To get this going, the poll will be for which weekend you prefer. Please only vote if you would likely would attend on your chosen weekend. Feel free to make comments like "Any weekend except xxx is fine."
Thank you.
I booked my flight and hotel back in September. I arrive on 5/26 just hours before the #360VV8 festivities begin.
Had the dates for the Spring Fling already been set for 5/25-26 before I made plans to attend #360VV8, I would have made it a long trip to do both.
No offense, but the WoV group isn't pro-active enough for these sort of things.
Also gotta check on costs of helicopter service NY to Vegas

The small company that I work for has its own helicopter, I will see if they will let you charter it. If not, maybe we can send one of the company jets to pick you up.

No offense taken. It is no big secret numbers have been dwindling. I think it worth discussing if we should keep doing it.

You need easier questions on your trivia quiz

We had 20 people last year, that’s more than enough to organize a dinner for imo.
Darkoz, I will buy a used car and drive all the way to Vegas picking u up along the way. But make sure we can AP enough to cover the costs.Quote: darkozI might come if I am not gonna get driven out to the desert with a shovel by some of my fellow AP's

It’s obvious what kinda spark these meetups need.
So let’s just see if Nathan responds.

or Juicy Jennie. Could have them share a room. I will drive to Florida and pick up Nathan since nathan says she doesnt like to fly. Only caveat is she must get Kentry to come too.
Quote: GWAEor Juicy Jennie.
She can squeeze it into her schedule , just depends on how many chippies are in it for her.
My records indicate that this will be the ninth consecutive year for a springtime WoV gathering, with the event called "WoVCon" for the first few years and subsequently "Spring Fling." I have attended seven of the first eight such events, so I consider myself a bit of a regular. And (so far) I have nothing scheduled for any of the weekends listed in the poll. And I still don't know whether I will be able to attend, because these things seem to slip out of my control without any warning.
Two years ago I had all of my plans laid out and then missed the Spring Fling due to a death in the family. Last year, I attended, but I wasn't a pleasant guy to be around, because I was experiencing my first-ever bout of kidney stones, with no hint about that issue until after I had booked flights and a room. Right now I am dealing with a deteriorating hip, and it is quite possible that I could go under the knife for that before spring arrives, and I don't know what the recovery/physical therapy schedule for such things is like. And I have an appointment in April to follow up with my urologist about those kidney stones and what needs to be done about the ones that are still inside me. It's a bit like that saying: "It's hell getting old, but it's better than the alternative, maybe."
Assuming that I do make it for this next Spring Fling, my preferences would be for it to be scheduled in conjunction with bargain fares from the airlines and inexpensive rooms in Las Vegas. After all, I am an admitted cheapskate. I just haven't yet checked into what the offered room and/or flight prices are during this period.
I am curious about constraints/preferences others might have regarding day of the week. Our first WoVCon was held on a Wednesday evening, but since then the main event has always been held on Saturday evening, with auxiliary events extending over a three or four day period, maybe more. Is it important to folks for the main event to be on Saturday? Of course, part of this cheapskate's motivation in asking the question is that weekends are generally the expensive nights in Las Vegas. I do recognize that some WoV members have those annoying day jobs M-F, but I don't know to what extent that represents a constraint. Comments?
Quote: TumblingBonesHas there ever been a Spring Fling on the East Coast?
We don't believe in such foolishness.
AFATSFG, I'm good for whenever. Obviously if I gotta travel for work then I wouldn't be able to make it.

We did a couple in Pittsburgh area. Talked about doing one in AC but it never materialized. Last one we had was going to have a nice gathering but it decided to snow 6 inches or something so most cancelled. Still had a small get together.

Thought you were calling me a fat guy then I realized what it said. Would make it fun to only write like that.

Why not put it off 'till the Nov 9th weekend this year.
Quote: michael99000It’s obvious what kinda spark these meetups need.
Actually, there is a bonus this year: if I show up (and I plan to), Wiz promised to buy a round for the group to pay off the 134,459 or so beers he owes me.
Any weekend is fine by me, although I prefer it not be April 6-7 as I currently have a doctor's appointment scheduled for the morning of April 8. Besides, I expect Vegas to be more packed than usual as that's Final Four weekend.

What’s Nov 9th?Quote: GialmereWhy not put it off 'till the Nov 9th weekend this year.
Hint:
Yeah as PG said, we had like 20 ppl last time, so I thought it was a pretty fair turnout.
OK. I give up. What’s 11/9? And/or what’s 11/2?Quote: GialmereEh? You'd certainly know better than me.
Hint:In your special case DJ, the Nov 2nd weekend would technically be more appropriate.
Just FYI - that is EDC weekend in Vegas and hotels will be extremely expensive.
I could be in error, but I'm assuming the first sentence in the first paragraph of the WoV main page is accurate. (One statement in said paragraph is obviously outdated.) Meanwhile, a glance at your own profile page reveals the "week early" dilemma.Quote: DJTeddyBearOK. I give up. What’s 11/9? And/or what’s 11/2?Quote: GialmereEh? You'd certainly know better than me.

So, by pushing the gathering back to November, two birds can be killed with one stone: fling and tinth ... er tenth (with a hefty turnout).

Im guessing 11/2 is when the Republicans are voting
And the dems are 11/9
Its part of the voter suppression plans for the gop

11/2 is DJ's join date. I still can't figure out what 11/9 is. For the few races that vote on the November election date this year, that's 11/5.

11/9 is probably the day of the wtc disasters for those people who are dyslexic

Wow, good catch. The whole city will be sold out that weekend. The Holiday Inn Express is showing $274 per night that weekend.
Edit: embarrassing typo

Aka Europeans.
But yeah, avoiding EDC weekend is probably a good idea. Unless y’all wanna pay a bundle for a room.

Quote: rdw4potusI think we did this on EDC week last year, too. It was busy in town, but not bad. Do the daisies maybe camp or something so that they don't have to drive?

Yes it was EDC last year as well. I remember some discussion about rates/prices being "high" :):):) for the weekend.
Speaking generally, after scanning over a few hotel rate calendars and flight pricing sites it seems Mother's Day weekend (May 11-12) is the lowest of the options listed.
SooPoo, you need to show up. Gialmere and Minty, you'd be welcome, as would several new members I've noticed. I'd also like to see Glen and FCBLcommish mrsuit31 and other industry people made welcome this time.
We talked about an escape room some time ago. I don't think that got done, but maybe some did? Either way, I'd really like to do one this time with you guys if people are interested.
Can we maybe go to Mob Pizza? I've heard it's really good but I haven't been there.
Didn't he say he worked for the darkside?Quote: beachbumbabsFCBLcommish
I thought I asked him in what capacity. I don't seem to recall getting an answer, or perhaps I just missed it?
I can think of many members who would normally like to attend but not until they knew whats up with that situation.

A little while back I had a thread about reactions to being barred or backed off. He made me an offer about giving me tips to avoid detection and generally be a better AP as long as I didn't play any of his properties.
For what it's worth, he seems really trustworthy and I know he offered advice on an AP comp maneuver for anyone who would PM him. I COMPLETELY understand your concern though.
I'm personally trying to weigh out the risk of meeting darksiders vs gaining a few allies, learning new plays and potentially setting up the workings of teams with people there.
What properties? Maybe I'm already 86'ed there so it won't matter (-;Quote: MintyA little while back I had a thread about reactions to being barred or backed off. He made me an offer about giving me tips to avoid detection and generally be a better AP as long as I didn't play any of his properties.

I'm not making him out to be a bad guy or anything like that, I have nothing against him. He has been a fine poster on the forum from what I have seen. I wouldn't mind bending his ear and getting some tips. However, I would like to know more about what he does before I expose myself to any potential situation that could cause me problems. Not to mention, people move to other casinos and positions and sometimes even branch out on their own. Surveillance guy today, Griffin employee the next day. That reminds me, a few low level employees I used to work with years ago are now slot managers at various casinos. One chick came to verify a jackpot I hit a few months ago.
Link to that thread please.
