Quote: teddysYep, thanks for that. And for anybody in the Midwest, Four Winds about 30 miles east of Chicago is offering a $400 loss rebate. That's real losses, not net losses, and they will do it for less than $400. Great promo, bring your friends.
I think we are going to try and check this out next week. I plan on posting
how it goes for us.
Quote: EvenBobIts for new players only.
Never been there, so wish us luck !

Nicest Indian casino I've been in, on a par with anything in Vegas. Best hotel room I ever stayed in, and that includes Vegas.
how we do during part 2, after we get the rebate details and get back there.
Impressions:
- New and Very Nice.
- Every staff person we met was very friendly and helpful. So I think that attitude
is probably (hopefully) instilled by the management and part of a customer
service philosophy.
- Easy and plentiful self-parking.
- It was in a nice wooded setting, just off of I94.
Video Poker:
- There was a 9/6 JoB Triple Play in the High Limit Slots area, it was a $1 denomination.
- I think most of the 25 cent JoB VP was 8/5.
- The $ level was 9/5.
- I did see one 9/5 JoB with a progressive, also at the $ level.
Other:
- The buffet was $ 16 and we didn't try it.

When they opened in 2007, it was great. Now it consists of about 15 different dishes made from beans. I kid you not.
which was enough to get us into the player's lounge there and we had
some appetizers. Very cozy, gas fireplace, leather couches... Other-
wise, we probably would have tried the buffet.
but the score is Four Winds 3, Gamblers ( me, Mrs Q,
and my brother ) 0, so far.
We played with the goal of getting a Royal Flush,
or at least 4 dueces in Dueces Wild, and we didn't
hit.
So when we return, I think we'll play the money
through once, and decide whether to continue on
or cash out.
I am pretty amazed by this particular rebate offer.
The highest I had seen before in LV was at the
Stratosphere years ago, and more recently at
Arizona Charlie's for $ 100. I think Arizona
Charlie's changed the rules a bit since then.
I guess there is something at Terrible's now,
but I won't bother sorting out the details until
I have another trip planned to LV.
We decided to use the highest variance strategy we could find. I did two $200 pulls, lost. My friend made 5 $100 pulls (he had a small win.) We will be back to recoup our losses once we get the rebate. Even though we lost, I feel like it is the highest EV play we have ever made in a casino.
I have to disagree with the comment about the buffet being bad. I was initially upset that it cost $25 but everything I had was AWESOME. It was worth it.
I didn't know the exact details on the way the loss was calculated,
but it also may have changed over time.
My "strategy" was to play Jacks or Better VP and try to hit a Royal
and then NOT need the Loss Rebate. That didn't happen. So
we'll be going back sometime. I went from 25 cents to the $1
level of play. It seemed like I would have had to play "forever"
to lose $ 400 on a 25 cent machine ( $ 1.25 per VP hand ).
about 2 weeks after our first visit, and
you have about 5 weeks to use it before
it expires. I played and lost the entire
$ 400 on my first visit.
Details of the Mailing:
$ 400 Rebate in Free Play
$ 125 Additional Free Play good on a single Wedn in Feb
====
$ 525 ! ! !
+ a Free Hotel Room, good even on weekends.
So my brother and I went back this past Sunday,
since we were sortof in the area anyway for our
Mom's 90th birthday.
We each played the $ 400 thru once on the 8/5
Jacks or Better, because we wanted enough
hands to get close to the Expected Return.
After playing exactly $ 400 thru ( the machine
has a count-down meter that shows you
exactly where you are ), I cashed out with
$ 398.75, which I was quite pleased with.
My brother did even better, ending up
about $ 35 ahead, having gotten off to
a good start with a couple of Full Houses
pretty quickly.
The promo worked exactly as I had hoped
it would, you just have to play it through
once, and then you can cash out.
We continued to play after the promo
was done, and I ended up losing about
$ 50 doing that, which still left me with
the $ 350.
The hotel room was also very nice,
the place is relatively new and they
are doing a nice job keeping it in
good condition.
This is the best promo I have ever
seen ! THANKS to TEDDYS, I think,
for mentioning it on this site.

So you spent $400 to get back $398? Congratulations? Think I'll stay home instead..

You're ignoring the fact that they could have won with the first $400 they lost. I think the rebate worked very well. I'm hoping to use it for myself soon. Trying to figure out what the best strategy is.

But then they wouldn't have gotten the rebate.
Quote: EvenBobBut then they wouldn't have gotten the rebate.
This is emblematic of the basic misunderstanding you see every time someone talks about a loss rebate.
OBVIOUSLY (duhhhhhhh.....) the best outcome would have been that the player won, and didn't need the rebate at all. Having to get the rebate was not the optimal result; in fact, it was the worst one. The value of the rebate was that the worst possible outcome was, instead of losing, that the player got his money back in the form of the rebate. It's better to lose $0 than $400.
You're welcome! You did well. You are ahead from the hotel room (did you get the suite?) and the extra $125. Plus you were able to hold onto most of the cash, unlike me :0 Keep a lookout for more cash offers in the future.Quote: JohnnyQ

By the way, I was there this weekend (playing All-in Hold 'Em), and when I asked for a meal comp, they said I was "in the negative." Translation: I am not a money maker for them.

You should have run the $125 thru the Bally Roulette machine, they have them at 4 Winds. You could have gotten $125 in cash plus the free room.
Quote: FinsRuleIs the roulette machine 0, or 00?
It doesn't matter. Say you have $100 in free play on your card. Bet $50 on red and $50 on black and $6 on the zero split or if its a single zero machine, $3 on the zero. You need to put $110 cash in first for it to work. When you print out the ticket, you will have won $100 plus getting your 110 back, minus the zero bet.

Not sure if you were just kidding. But To clarify:
1st Visit: Lost $ 400 playing VP
2nd Visit: The loss rebate of $ 400 was put on my card as Free Play.
I played "their" money thru once, and cashed out with $398.75
They also gave me a free hotel room for Sunday night.
3rd Visit: Haven't done this yet, but the Mrs needs to play through
her loss rebate still, and if we can schedule the trip for
the right day, we will EACH also get $ 125 more in free play.
To Summarize:
This is a GREAT deal.
It happens.
>2nd Visit: The loss rebate of $ 400 was put on my card as Free Play.
Thats nice. I assume you use the Free Play however you desire, but since you like VP, that is most likely how you would use it.
>I played "their" money
>To Summarize: This is a GREAT deal.
Yeah, I guess it is. I'd prefer the First Trip you win 400 and they give you an additional 400 but it ain't likely to happen .. not ever! So this is about as close as you can come to getting something really good. Now we each know the casino's motive was to get you back there on that second trip and get you back there real soon. They want you to dig deeper into your pockets and they want you to do that digging promptly. They want you to get into the habit of making those trips.
Well, casino motivations aside, you had fun and bottom line so far just ain't all that bad. Gasoline, an uncomped night, some meals. You had an excursion, some excitement and some potential for hitting a Royal Flush on the VP machine.
Be sure to let us know how that 3rd trip goes!

Well what I wonder is:
....Is this Casino being so generous because they are doing so well, or because they are not doing very well ?
Because it is an Indian Casino, I'm not sure we'll have access to that info.
Or is it because they want the Chicago business, but they are the farthest from Chicago ?
Regardless, I'd say check it out before they change their minds !

I vote that one

I think it is because they are doing well. Slot revenue is dependent on coin in, and keeping the volume of players up by introducing aggressive incentives to new players is one way to drive traffic. Hopefully, great word of mouth, like the positive reports here, will keep them coming back... with their friends and families.
Interesting article. Thanks for putting a link in to it !
rebate. The free hotel night is good on weekends
pending room availability. I will keep calling from
time to time, figuring someone is going to cancel
at the last minute.
Otherwise, there are plenty of new hotels within
a few miles. We have a free certificate from
Hilton for going to a Timeshare pres'n in LV
this past summer.
We went back, drove through a snow storm, and ended
up there with the sun shining in the afternoon.
Mrs Q didn't hit a bid DW jackpot either, so I guess that
makes it Fourwinds 3, gamblers 0. Mrs Q lost a little more
than I had suggested as a loss limit, so I guess I'll
try to get a firmer agreement on that before our
next trip anywhere.
I enjoy learning the game, looking for the best
paytable, getting a good deal on a hotel room,
and trying to get as many comps from the
casino as you can. ( I was able to use the free
hotel night coupon from their mailer on my
previous trip ).
This loss rebate promo is still the best casino
promo I have ever seen. I assume it will be
around for a while, but who knows what the
Marketing Dept will do.
