I have made up my mind that four and four equals ten. I realize some will disagree, and point out how so-called textbooks will say it is eight, but I have made up my mind. I have nothing against the number eight, it's just that ten contains fewer letters and it is more convenient.
I'm a grown-ass man and I don't need any over-educated lilliputians telling me how I must think.
As the great Merican folksinger R.Kelly once said- If I can dream it, I can be it.
Some people dream of living in a race-free, class-free society. I choose to live in a math-free society, where five plus three could be eight, or it could be ten. My mind is made up.
See you in the funny papers.
unfortunately the casinos are going to stick to the old math. When you are supposed to win 8 dollars you do not get 10.
Racists!

Which is it?
4 + 4 = 10?
Or
5 + 3 = 10?
Im so confused. 😵💫
There's probably a Christmas = Halloween joke in there.
Quote: odiousgambitwell the good news is we now have the New Math, and that is how it is taught, so you'll be fine

Exactly. Everyone knows there is only one best way to jump to a conclusion, but lets examine the so-called number 8 compared to a number like 7. The number 7 reminds us of greatness- The Seven Wonders of the World, Mickey Mantle, Seven brides for seven brothers, seventh game of the world series.
What does the number 8 remind us of? When I hear 8, I think of the time I ate a jar of pickles and my tummy hurt for days, or I think of what zeta did to theta. Put two zeros side by side and you have nothing. Put them on top of each other and suddenly you have an integer we are supposed to value?
I have spoken my piece and counted to three.

I love 4th grade arithmetic. It is so real, so logical, so correct, and so NON-confusing. Live it, love, and embrace it.

The eighth wonder of the world (King Kong for those that still haven't seen the movie)
I seem to recall an old song that one plus one makes three although the implication was two parents doing the hanky panky and out pokeyed a baby for three.

I have made up my mind that four and four equals ten. I realize some will disagree, and point out how so-called textbooks will say it is eight, but I have made up my mind. I have nothing against the number eight, it's just that ten contains fewer letters and it is more convenient.

There are precedents where members in good standing start parody posts designed to embarrass other members.
It seldom ends well.

What is curious is that Bill has stated he finds MDawg claims to be more believable than mine.
The real comedy here may come from understanding just who it is Bill is actually parodying.
He hasn't specified.
If he is parodying myself then we can all have a good chuckle at Bill.
Keep up, Darkoz. He is clearly parodying Alan Mendelson.Quote: darkozQuote: OnceDear

You can name names if you want (although I probably can't without suspension), but there is a growing group that more and more makes posts and starts discussions that just defy the mathematics of gambling for which this forum was based. One of those people Wizard recently "labeled" a math defier. Others nothing is said about and are even inexplicitly protected. It apparently is fine to constantly repeat that the earth is flat. :(
why bother with casinos
I'm waiting for someone here to come up with a sure thing way to beat the Powerball lottery with a minimum investment and post it up here
it's just about guarandamteed that I'll learn that here pretty soon
in the meantime no need for me to do any work
as you can see - I'm determined - nothing can stop me now

And people haven't. 6-7 years ago 300+ members were listed as visiting WoV daily (maybe 280 on weekends). Yesterday was 108!! And most days now are in the 120's. That just happens to coincide with the forum moving away from math based discussions to all the "voodoo" nonsense of long disproven losing betting systems, and discussion like "quitting while ahead", along with long running fantasy adventure discussions of nothing but winning with no explanation of how.
I understand the current owner of this forum probably embrace these discussions. these are the kind of players they WANT to attract. But for those of us that were drawn to WoV, because of the math based discussions and the gambling math expert that started and ran the forum, These are dark days at WoV.
Quote: kewljI took Bill's comments as just a general repudiation of the direction of the forum, away from the math-based forum that it once was, and toward math defying claims, comments and discussions.

Thanks KJ. I value your perspective. Bill is probably considering the general health of the direction of the forum and parodying more than just Alan.... But I'm crediting Alan with triggering this parody.
Thank you MDawg, for the personal attack on KewlJ.Quote: MDawgAnd of course no thread in which KewlJ participates would be complete without his spouting the same thoughts that fill his head nightly that he's been unable to clear every morning. Gotta wonder about how or why anyone could clear his mind at the tables when he's unable to let go of the same ol' obsessive lamenting complaining thoughts regurgitated the same way day in day out at forums.
