Apparently I have left a bit of it with my tribe, one of my tribes.
I like them, that should be obvious.
Now if you come over here and question my Gamblin practices, and you are not part of one of my 'close tribes', we might quit gambling amongst ourselves. We might start looking for your scalps.
When you leave, we'll go back to Gamblin with each other.

Blame Boston, Revere, Somerville and Mohegan Sun. Their lawsuits are what slowed down the contruction process. Thank goodness they were thrown out. https://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2015/12/03/judge-dismisses-city-boston-lawsuit-aimed-stopping-wynn-resorts/fKP1tGo7j2dcLq5rl4ZZRO/story.html
Also this dragged on for a good couple of months. http://patch.com/massachusetts/charlestown/wynn-resorts-gets-vital-environmental-permit-everett-casino-0
Good news. Now Wynn and MA can move forward and built this awesome casino.
Now that is out of the way there are still lawsuits from Somerville and Mohegan Sun that need to be thrown out too. Bunch of sour grape sore losers.

Oh boy. Not good. Doesn't look like his MA casino is going to be built.
Maybe throw in the towel and look at other states in the Northeast that would welcome you with open arms Steve.
Honestly, I don't care that much. It would be kind of cool to have a big casino right here, but Wynn sucks. Almost all 6:5 blackjack.
As for baccarat it is the BEST place. Oh no! Baccarat!!!!!!! Only betting joint to allow me to stop the shoe and begin a new one when I want to. Good or bad. Supervisor and the dealer gave me weird looks once when the shoe gave me +16 units in a roll. Oh no!!!! I won money!!! Nooooo!!!! How can that be????? Anyways, that hilarious WTF kind of look by everyone around was very memorable.
I don't know if this would happen in Everett but in Vegas I was given this privilege. Doesn't happen all the time but during the early wee mornings when I am the only one playing.
From the looks of things Wynn Everett would be a pretty awesome place to visit outside of Vegas. The North East casino scene is not very welcoming and friendly in my opinion. Especially AC and CT. PA is nice but the quality of the patrons are very questionable.
Quote: DMSCRBlackjack and craps (from what I have heard with those who partake) are not at all favorable at the Wynncore.

I played craps at Wynncore once and it was fine. There are fewer rules to tweak at craps to make it bad (as opposed to BJ). Obviously they can limit the odds, charge commission up front on the 4/10, and pay double on BOTH the 2/12 field. But the only one of those that impacts my playing style is the odds.
The one time I played, odds were standard strip 3/4/5. It very well could have changed since then. If the Everett location (if it's ever built) offers 3/4/5 odds or better I will probably play occasionally. Although honestly it would probably be better if I stayed away. I had to make a rule for myself in WA that I couldn't play craps in my home state, lest I become a problem gambler.
Quote: WizardofnothingDid I see a thread somewhere that said there was not tiles at both Wynn and encore , and was only at Wynn now?
There was one that said that. It was a trip report from someone who stayed at Encore and didn't like having to go to Wynn for his tiles. Maybe 3 months ago? Less?
Quote: DMSCRThe mayors of Somerville, Boston and Revere are a bunch of low hanging fruit sour grapes.
I was a Somerville resident when the mayor was raising hell about the additional traffic through Somerville because of the new casino. I understand his position but traffic SUCKS in this entire metro area. I don't think the casino is really going to make it much worse. So thankful that his objections were thrown out.
Quote: AcesAndEightsSo, I live about 6 miles from the proposed Wynn site.
I have moved since this post, but currently my commute to work on the train takes me directly by the construction site! Despite knowing about this casino in the past, I literally didn't realize until yesterday that the construction I had been idly glancing at for the past 8ish months was the new casino. I'll try to snap a picture and post it up sometime this week to show the progress. Sadly the train that departs near my home is across the water from the site, so while I *can* get there on public transit, it will require a transfer to a local bus route.
Quote: AcesAndEightsHonestly, I don't care that much. It would be kind of cool to have a big casino right here, but Wynn sucks. Almost all 6:5 blackjack.
I am waiting with bated breath to see what the BJ odds will be at the new casino. I would bet on 6:5 since they have no competition and based on their Vegas properties. I would be willing to wager on it...I would take "100% 6:5" at even odds I think. Conceivably I could see a high-limit area at 3:2.
If possible, please change the title of the thread to "Wynn Boston Harbor."

Quote: NokTangHow are they going to get rid of all those smoke stacks? I really doesn't resemble a Wynn project view wise IMHO..
Doubtful, that is just the spot they chose. I think it's great they got property near the urban core and not out in the burbs. But part of that is there is some industrial stuff surrounding the location (the smoke stacks are not on the Wynn property as far as I can tell).
Quote: FleaStiffDoes Boston Transit still have "Dime Time".... ten cent fares once the morning rush hour ends? If so, can you imagine trekking to a casino for a dime? Sure beats a flight to Vegas and a hotel room (even if comped). Ten cents and twenty minutes. Not even a trek to an outer suburb or something.
Ha, no. Fares are the same regardless of time of day. A ride on the T (subway) is $2.25 if you have a CharlieCard (the MBTA RFID card) which is free itself, or $2.75 if you just have a paper ticket. Local bus fares are lower, commuter rail higher, etc. and so on.
Quote: FleaStiffDoes Boston Transit still have "Dime Time".... ten cent fares once the morning rush hour ends?
"The MBTA's only experiment with peak/off-peak pricing began in 1973. Dubbed "Dime Time", the program reduced rapid transit fares to $.10 on weekdays between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. (later extended to 2:00 p.m. and extended to Green Line stations). Dime Time was not considered successful and was discontinued in 1975. A 1974 study by Decision Research, Inc. (DRI), was unable to quantify any gain in ridership."
How long has it been since you've been in Boston?

Lots of agitation here in the Boston metro area about changing the name, given Steve Wynn's various alleged sexual crimes. The corporation doesn't seem to care, saying the name "Wynn" is now more about the brand than the person. We'll see.
Given the Wynn casino's huge amount of 6-5 games in Vegas, honestly as a gamble I would be happy to see a different operator. MGM would be welcome by me, and maybe they would even have some S17 games.

In other news, they are considering using the Encore name for this building. Seems like a good PR move that would fit in to their branding:

A two hour drive on the Mass Pike will get you to MGM Springfield, scheduled to open in September. You might find real Blackjack there.Quote: AcesAndEights... I expect I will continue to visit the Connecticut casinos.

With a family and a 9-5, even a two hour drive (or more to CT) is off the table except for a special occasion. I could hypothetically hit up the new Wynn location on the way home from work, if they put in that pedestrian bridge from Assembly Square.
Eventually I will probably make a trip to Mohegan or Foxwoods. Should have married a fellow gambler :(

Sorry for the poor image quality on the first one. I have learned I should take these in the afternoon, with the sun behind me and not just out of frame ahead. Surely a real photographer would know these things, but I'm just a rube with a smart phone.
The adjacent clean up was funded by the casino company but is not on casino property. Apparently the casino found out what they mean in Boston by the term 'pretty penny' on those ever escalating cleanup costs.
"Charlie card"... Undoubtedly a reference to that guy who is still riding the MTA in that song of yesteryear.

Quote: NokTangThanks for the photo and effort. What is the anticipated opening date? Also if you happen to know, what is the status of sports wagering in that liberal state and has Wynn mentioned a sports book if same is allowed etc? Cheers mate.
Projected opening is summer 2019.
I haven't been following the sports wagering rules here. Based on a quick google looks like it could be ready to go next year:

Hopefully some new, unexploited angle.
They're a clever bunch: if anyone can figure it out, they can.
All that ripe fruit dangling in their back yard should prove to be irresistible.

Indeed. I wish I were a good AP. Maybe if I dedicated myself to it, I would be the type of mind to find a new angle on new or existing games. But I'm more of a "follow the instructions" type, hence why I haven't gotten much past card counting in my nascent, mostly over, AP career.
If the BJ games are anything like the Wynncore in Vegas, there won't be much for traditional card counters to attack...I'm sure other opportunities will abound though, as they often do at new casino openings.
(as always, click for full size).
I missed my chance to snap a pic with just the "En" of "Encore" up there. What's fascinating to me is that they are apparently still considering offers to buy the property due to the Wynn scandal while putting the name up there:

Lastly, saw these ads at one of my T stops:
No way that's entry level.... right??
Also, anybody know what that sign in Chinese says? Does that have anything to do with the casino?
