(From the Wizard's review of Fitzgeralds.) According to the Spanish 21 web site, there are only two casinos on earth that let the player re-double in Spanish 21, and Fitzgeralds is one of them (the other being the Horizon in Lake Tahoe).

Actually Fitzgeralds must now be the only casino on earth where you can re-double in Spanish 21, as the Horizon no longer offers any table games.

I was at Lake Tahoe this February and went to the Horizon in search of another mythical beast, Sigma Derby, based on a tip from Cheapo Reno. Alas, it was also nowhere to be found. I took two laps around the casino but could only find a telltale non-faded spot on the carpet where I'm guessing Sigma Derby used to stand.

The Horizon gave me the creeps. The casino is good sized but feels empty because of the lack of table games, small number of machines for the space, and even smaller number of players. I expected a tumbleweed to roll through at any second. I didn't want to stick around long enough to ask someone what became of Sigma Derby, and hightailed it down the street to the much more lively Lakeside Inn.

Sigma Derby will have to wait a couple more weeks until my next Las Vegas visit.

Columbia Sussex that owns Montbleu owns Horizon casino. It is my understanding that they are seriously considering shutting down Horizon since revenue at Lake Tahoe has been reduced so badly because of competition with Sacramento Indian casinos.

It would not be surprising that they moved the game to Montbleau.

Bill's Lake Tahoe has been sold and will now become a strip club.

Judging by the report on the NGCB site, Horizon looks like a mini-slot club.

The Wizard misspoke here. He meant it is the only casino in Nevada where you can redouble in Spanish 21. Casinos in California and Washington, to name two places, also allow it. (Nevada=the whole earth? I guess I can see the mistake...).
