What does Prince William or Prince Harry do at a strip club? I am sure they can afford a banknote, but how would you like to be stuffing pictures of your grandmother into the G-string of a stripper?
Here though the girls are usually naked and not wearing G-strings.....
Quote: pacomartinWhat do people do in European strip clubs? The smallest banknote is worth about $7-$8. Is there another tradition besides slipping a dollar bill into a G-string, or do people just spend a lot of money.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but it seems to me that even in this country the tradition of tipping one dollar at a time in strip clubs in this country has become outdated. There is less of an emphasis on the floor show and it is now all about lap dances and the VIP rooms. Personally, I liked it better the old way.

Not that I have been to one in years, but you are somewhat correct. One tidbit it the clubs like to give you $2s in change. That way the girls get a bigger tip. If you think about it, strip clubs have the same problem churches do--people still think $1 is worth what it was in the 1970s and tip/throw that in the collection plate.
The dirty little secret in strip clubs is the girls pay the owner for use of the "private room." For my going-to-AZ sendoff they set me up with one. The girl asked me to hold the cash AFTER we left the room then slip it to her. I guess they pay a % not a flat amount at that establishment. Does anyone know if the owner even pays the girls, or is it all tips?
As far as Europe, I've never been, but was told by some English blokes in Thailand that their strip clubs were all clip joints, like a lot of Vegas clubs, taking all your money and leaving you with nothing but blue balls to show for it. Other friends have told me that in some European countries like Spain, The Netherlands and parts of Germany, what you think is a strip club is actually a brothel, so at least that's a step in the right direction for customer satisfaction.
Speaking of Thailand, most of the tips to girls were done in the form of buying 'Lady drinks' which have a small mark up that the girl gets to keep a portion of. These are still way cheaper than drinks in any American club, running 100-180 Thai baht, or 3-6 dollars. There is also direct tipping, but because of the King being represented on all Thai currency, you don't go around stuffing 20 baht notes into g-strings because that is disrespectful. Instead you buy ping pong balls at 20 baht a pop and either hand or toss them to the girls who later turn them in for cash. Most gogos I went to said the girls get the whole 20 baht per ball but who knows. Japanese tourists were known to create quite a scene by throwing buckets of balls at a time onto a crowded stage. Some think it is demeaning and others think it's all in fun. I would normally buy 5-10 at a time and either toss one directly to a girl or just hand it to her.
In Costa Rica there wasn't much direct tipping, but once again 'lady drinks' were bought for around 8 bucks (4000 colones) and that would usually get you about three songs worth of company which may or may not include lapdances but were always hands on experiences. You have to be careful about clip joints in San Jose as well. If you're one of a few non-Ticos in the audience then you are probably at a good place.
This is actually a fascinating topic that I would love to research and write a paper/book on, but no one has given me any grant money yet...
OK. I gotta ask. What's a "Stripper Handshake" ?Quote: progrocker. . . a 'stripper handshake'.
Step to the back of the line, buddy.Quote: progrockerThis is actually a fascinating topic that I would love to research and write a paper/book on, but no one has given me any grant money yet...

That is how it is on the "Block" in Baltimore, at least when I was there. There was a city law against paying for strippers to touch the customers. So the customers could voluntarily buy the girls $20 special drinks in shrimp cocktail glasses and coincidentally this would be followed by her choosing the touch the customer free of charge.
