I believe I heard about a very successful addiction program in the UK that was - essentially - the government giving out hard drugs, in certain cases.
I googled that and found zip
if it's true - they've successfully managed to hide the program from google - not an easy task
.

Here's an abtract of a 1988 paper on how the British had dealt with their heroin problem.
Until the 1970s, British doctors prescribed heroin to addicts.
link to original post
okay - it looks like Dieter was correct - my apologies for questioning the validity of his post
but I read the abstract - and it indicates that the program was abolished probably (my opinion) because it was a failure
from the article:
"The present era, commencing in the 1970s saw a shift to a treatment-oriented approach in which doctors began prescribing oral methadone rather than injectable heroin and treatment emphasized a short, rapid reduction in drug use rather than maintenance.
Increasing drug use in the 1980s prompted additional policy changes that placed much less emphasis on the medical profession as a source of official control, focusing instead on increased drug law enforcement, detoxification services, and voluntary self-help and rehabilitation programs."

No offense (offence?) taken. I'm sure that there are a range of treatment goals, from "use less dangerously" (like needle exchanges), to "use less dangerous things" (like methadone clinics), to getting off the junk.
One size likely does not fit all. Case by case evaluation and customized treatment seems like it would offer better outcomes.
Limited experience, but "they" were probably right not to give me a big jar of opiates to get over my surgery this time around.
The cocaine was included so that users could experience more pleasure, and typically the ones who got both drugs were terminally ill. A very small number got the cocaine, more got just the heroin.
People who don't know anything about pharmaceuticals shudder when they hear the word "heroin" but heroin is nothing more than diacetyl morphine, and it turns into morphine anyway after injected with one pass through the blood brain barrier. Morphine was invented because they thought it was an answer to opium addiction, just as heroin was supposed to cure morphine addiction. All opiates are more or less the same - habit forming, leading to physical dependence. They all have the same or similar side effect of constipation. Calling one "more bad" over another is just plain ignorance. All opiates should be avoided entirely unless absolutely needed for short term use, or in the terminally ill.

Actually I use a shop vac if it gets bad. Put some water down and suck it up with the vacuum it does an amazing job and it's really fast. I have no carpet in my house, I got rid of every square foot of carpeting in the 90s after I had a terrible flea infestation. Haven't had a one since.

Doe drank the water bottle and realized she may have ingested semen, prompting her and her husband to contact hotel management and local police.
Ritz-Carlton sent the bottle allegedly containing the bodily fluid to a laboratory for testing. Results confirmed the water bottled contained semen, the lawsuit said.

today - I saw something I had never seen before
a woman begging with a sign had her 8 year old daughter with her

It is where the USA is today. The average person cannot afford the American lifestyle.
The difference is there are three judges, each taking turns asking questions. It's interesting how each goes in different directions, but the fascinating part is listening in on their deliberations. They often listen to the same testimony and reach very different conclusions.
Quote: billryanI've been watching this new show called Tribunal Justice. It is similar to the People's Court or Judge Judy.

It's all fake, just like all reality shows. It's scripted, it wouldn't survive if it wasn't. Judge Judy was totally scripted, they all are. Read some of the stories of the people that have been on these so-called reality shows. They are told what to say, they rehearse what they have to say, they are just unprofessional actors doing their lines.

The problem is that the American lifestyle has gotten ridiculous. Peoples wants far exceed their needs.

I totally understand it that's why I don't watch reality TV. Even the cooking shows are fake. The chef at one of my Indian casinos told me years ago that he was on one of the Food Networks cooking contest shows and it was rigged from top to bottom. I don't mind fiction if it's well done, the fiction in reality TV is pitiful. That's why they do it because it costs a fraction to produce compared to a regular fiction TV show.

I saw a video of a 22-year-old girl who just graduated from college last spring and was moaning and groaning about how she had to start at the bottom of the pile in the workforce at a crummy job with a 90 minute commute and she's $90,000 in debt from college loans and how much better she could have done if she'd spent the $90,000 on the sport utility truck she wanted. The priorities of these young people is stunning.

It's best not to ask questions.
I was watching an interview with a guy who just got a big promotion. He was read three direct quotes of his and asked for explanations.
He insisted that he didn't recall making any of them and then switched to complaining about the president's obvious mental decline.
Pure, unscripted comedy gold.
I had about given up on my back pain - have tried all kinds of expensive creams
happened to see one at the Dollar Store - called NaturePlex - and I figured what the hell - it's only $1.25 - the Dollar Store is no longer actually a Dollar Store
I was shocked - it actually helps - nothing else did - it's not Nirvana - but it's something

Better buy all of it they have because you can almost guarantee next time you go there they won't have it. That's what I've learned to do if I like something buy all of it cuz they won't have it for six more months.

That is great. I had very bad back pain for over 9 years. Finally I got to the right doctor, 30 seconds after looking at the MRI he asked "When did you break your back?". A month later I had surgery and have been good since.
lots of happenings during Halloween every year in Salem, Mass - much entertainment and fun
this is because of the Salem Witch Trials - which were no joke - around 1692 and 1693
more than 200 people were accused of Witchcraft - 30 were found guilty and 19 were executed by hanging
a great many more were executed in Europe for Witchcraft
the trials started in Salem after accusations made by teenage girls
Dorothy Good was 4 or 5 years old when she was accused of Witchcraft - see link

Watching a few interviews with him, he clearly is NOT skilled at Blackjack basic strategy or counting, and he spouts shallow BS about how to play. E.G. he says NEVER buy insurance at BJ, which is plain wrong and should always be conditional on the count. He also advocates doubling some hard 9s and splitting nines, again without explaining when to.
Analysis of his poker play, by poker experts, concludes that he's not a great player.
Also, of course, he makes a big deal of playing Baccarat and Roulette, where he CLAIMS a mysterious ability to win.
Almost everything we know about Mikki Mase's prowess, we get FROM Mikki Mase.
Personally, I reckon he's a degenerate gambler with a high trust fund initial bankroll. He very clearly bamboozled Spencer Cornelius ( It was pitifully obvious how ) and is almost certainly milking the Youtube Affiliate marketing engine to pay him the millions needed to fund his 'show'. It's academic how much he wagers or loses, or who is supplying his bankroll.
Members here need to realise that of all the characters in his Youtube vids, all the 'celebrities' that endorse him, none are themselves, reliable witnesses. That and social media monetisation can be extremely lucrative.
Of all the youtube vids where Mikki reveals his secret, he reveals........ NOTHING at all.
Maybe one day the Mikki Mase analysis will get revisited.
