Is the need to feel happy and sheltered the reason you avoid reading longform articles about nineteenth century Brazilian architecture?

Most of us want to avoid a topic that often ends up dominating everything with nothing but silliness and worthless repetition

To actually add something, here's the best news story I've seen all year: https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/16/opinion/sunday/chess-champion-8-year-old-homeless-refugee-.html

"We defeated a very corrupt establishment and we kept our promise to the American people and it is driving them crazy. Today, our movement and our country are thriving. Their fraud has been exposed and the credibility of those who pushed this hoax is forever broken. And they have now got big problems" - Your President Trump

They offer five free articles per month. It's heartwarming to everyone that you read the New York Times that much on all your devices.

Lifetip: New York Times doesn't want to stop people from sharing, so lots of social media links will work (unfortunately not wizardofvegas), so try clicking on the picture here: https://twitter.com/christinawilkie/status/1107625337851138050

Wouldn’t want a confused jacka****who doesn’t know if they have a c@@k or a Vijay to feel left out when booking a flight.

Assuming this has already happened in Islamic countries where they give “confused” individuals a lesson in gravity at 30,000 feet.

Note the kids had no issue with the contest because they live in a world where eating watermelon is a good thing. But the parents had to complain. I am somewhat near this underperforming school district and here are the reasons they should be upset.

Only 5.9% of Steel High's students scored proficient or advanced in Mathematics/Algebra on the 2018 PSSA? Or that only 22.1% scored proficient or advanced in English Language Arts/Literature on the 2018 PSSA? Or only 12.5% scored proficient or advanced in Science/Biology?

The Disney-Fox deal finalized the other day.

Now they own The Simpsons and like every Marvel character except Spider-Man.

I think now they also own the complete rights to the original Star Wars?? Or distribution rights, or something... I just know there was something weird about Fox owning certain rights on A New Hope but none of the other movies.

I’ve heard concerns about what this could mean for the fate of Deadpool 3, because Disney in no way shape or form wants to be associated with that franchise.

But with both Deadpool movies pulling in around $780 million EACH at the box office, there’s no way they are leaving that money on the table.

LOL. Who is the idiot that thought it was a good Idea to allow black kids to engage in a watermelon eating contest? Even if there is nothing wrong with it. Someone had to know there would be outraged. They took back the N word. Why not take back watermelon? I hope not, because then I wouldn't be able to eat watermelon without it being offensive to some crazy white chick.

Man arrested for keeping an 86-inch flat-screen TV that was mailed to his home by mistake....
The shipping company claims that Memmo signed for the incorrect delivery, which Memmo disputes. He also said that he never informed them he was someone he is not. According to Freetown Police Department, they were informed by the delivery service that two televisions had been delivered and one was delivered by mistake. “The delivery service contacted police after several unsuccessful attempts to recover the television. Police then visited the residence where they spoke with the male in an effort to recover the television. Unfortunately, he refused to cooperate,” the FPD said.

Memmo is now facing jail time. He says if he knew he would be arrested, he would have paid for the larger TV or returned it.

Interesting article. It would be interesting to see how it ends up.

This is the FTC page on unordered merchandise:
https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0181-unordered-merchandise

Which says:
Q. Am I obligated to return or pay for merchandise I never ordered?

A. No. If you receive merchandise that you didn’t order, you have a legal right to keep it as a free gift.

I seem to recall this was done because unscrupulous vendors would send people things they didn't order and then hound them for payment.

If they just left it on his doorstep it would seem he was in the clear. The fact that he signed for it may have changed things.

I don't believe that applies to a misdirected package.
