I would be very interested in seeing a score sheet for your various bets/wins. I hope this would lead you to the conclusion that there is no luck, only variance.

Head to your least favorite Nevada casino and put a blindfold on, spin around 10 times, take the blindfold off, then go pee in the 3rd Urinal from the left. Wash your hands if you prefer, throw the towel in the can on the right. Note this does not work with those damn air dryers. Then go to the keno desk (do they still have those?) and bet the number closest to the size of what you saw when you pee’d, 1 number above it and the number you actually wished it is. So you have 3 numbers, bet the next keno game pic 3.
Win or lose, you had double the better odds of winning than Nathan does playing the Florida Lottery and a helluva lot more fun.

I would be dizzy from spinning around ten times and likely pee all over the floor.
I doubt anyone here would be that stupidQuote: NathanMy God! If you do a 2 week roll at $1 for each of my 42 numbers I chose in that one particular post you will spend a whopping $588! O.O Do NOT do a two week roll of my 42 numbers unless you can afford to spend $588. ;)

Quote: NathanIf you live in Florida, play 85 front pair for Pick 4 tonight! :D You know what? Play it for 2 weeks straight for both Evening and Midday Drawings. I have a glaring red alert that 85 is coming up soon. ;) You know what? Play 40-49 and 80-89 front pair for both Evening tonight and Midday tomorrow. :D So, $80/$40 for both Drawings. :)
Well, 85 front pair showed up! :D For Pick 5. Drats. :/ ;)

Primm Valley Lottery store is only about 30 minutes away. Of course you would need to figure out a formula to convert Florida Lottery numbers to California Lotto numbers.
Quote: NathanAnd 85 showed up in Pick 4. :) As a back pair. Drats. :/ I saw the number 931 multiple times while at work, and thought,"Hmm. 931 just may be coming up soon." It came up as Midday Pick 3. Drats. :/
In Florida currently and you actually have me paying attention when the news shows them.

Each day, list the numbers you ACTUALLY bought and how much you paid to do so. Then, after the drawing, tally up your winnings or losses.
Then we can have something to cheer on, or p155 ourselves laughing at.
Not much joy in cheering on or laughing at numbers that 'nearly did stuff if only they had been different numbers. or the same numbers in a different universe, or whatever.
Forecast something. Show you invested $$$ in it, then report back the thousands or millions that you actually won. Everything else about these meaningless, random collection of numbers is just too pointless even for this thread.
Now. Stick it to me. Show me the sportscar or yacht... or whatever that you win. Or maybe show our newbies the stupidity of buying lottery tickets.

Google the whole phrase. It's an allusion to an obscure poem by an equally obscure poet.

I thought you were refering to this:
or perhaps this:
Quote: billryanWhat book of poems does Pony Boy read to Soda?
The one where he says, work hard, make the hard choices in life, help those who help themselves and never ever end up a bitter miserable old man jealous of those who did?
I must have forgotten how Crispin Glover was replaced and cloned in BTTF sequels. By cloned, I mean another actor wore Crispin's face over his. Age doesn't matter as long as it works, they have makeup and things to age. Of course it's easier to make someone older and heavier, than to make them younger and skinnier, the parents as teens would have looked really stupid if they were in their forties and showing it.Quote: NathanSome casting decisions for TV shows and movies are just weird. For example, Lea Thompson portrayed Lorraine Baines Mcfly who was the mother of Marty Mcfly, who was portrayed by Michael J Fox. Lea is only two months older than Michael. :/ Lea also portrayed 47 year old Lorraine when she was 24. :/ Also, the actor portraying Lorraine's son, Marc McClure is actually older than Lea in real life by 4 years. :/ And older than the actor portraying his father, Crispin Glover by 7 years. :/ Michael is also older than Crispin by 2 years. :/
Quote: billryanDidn't his parents get much more screen time as teenagers than as their older selves?
Yeah, but the casting was still really weird when you take into account their real life ages. ;)

“It was as if that great rush of anger had washed me clean, emptied me of hope, and, gazing up at the dark sky spangled with its signs and stars, for the first time, the first, I laid my heart open to the benign indifference of the universe.”

Olivia Newton-John was 30 when she played a 17 year old high schooler in Grease. And one of her girlfriends in the movie was 34 in real life at the time.
This is true, back then the producers thought one project at a time, but not so much now, and look down the road. They know age hits everyone eventually and catches up, they worry about sequels not even planned at the moment. If today, they might have passed on her for a 26 year old, just to squeeze more youthful good looks out of them, let alone reducing a small chance of increased mortality.Quote: michael99000Olivia Newton-John was 30 when she played a 17 year old high schooler in Grease. What makes this worse is that Stockard Channing who played Rizzo looked about 45 when she was 34. At least Olivia looked her age or younger. ;)

Once Dear, you have a good point. In fact, your point is as good as gold. :)
I bought 85 front pair Pick 4 advance for 3 days starting yesterday, ;) (I already have 85 front pair from my week advance, so I'll have $75 if 85 pops up today, :) I also did 8513 advance for yesterday and today, hopefully lighting strikes three times, and 827 for yesterday and today :) I spent $7 for the advance tickets. :) I think I'll play $5 or $10 more for today. :)
Did someone fill your hobo bag with cash when you left it in the bushes outside the casino?
Youngest girl asked me if I'd ever seen the real Elton. I said yes, at Yankee Stadium with Billy Joel. She tells me she loves Elton and hopes they play Tony Danza. I've no idea what she is talking about, and she sings, fairly on key, Hold me closer, Tony Danza. Watch the headlice on the by way.
I have no idea if she was putting us on or not.

I had an inkling someone would bring something like that up. ;) Big name Lotto tickets are only $1 or $2 a pop . And Pick 2, 3, 4, and 5 are only .50 cents to a $1 a pop. So a week of say 728 Pick 3 and 8513 Pick 4 is $14. If 728 shows up or 8513 shows up, you get $140 and you can save some money, buy splurge on nice things, splurge the rest on more Lottery tickets and slot machines. :)
16 front pair, 1241, 1621 1627, 8620.Pick 4. 123, 591, 590, 863, 790. Pick 3. :)

Meanwhile, here is OnceDears's forecast for the UK national lottery to be drawn tonight at 10.05pm UK time.
09, 17, 18, 29, 48, 54 and bonus number 12.
I won't be buying a ticket as I'm not a complete fool.
I can hardly wait for tonight's lottery draw. If my numbers come up, I will win exactly £0millions.
I'm rather smug that since the UK lottery started in 1994, I have not bought a single entry. So at two draws a week, I could be as much as £1,800 better off as if I'd just bought 1 ticket a week.
* I was asked by my office syndicate if I'd mind nipping to the shop and buying £5 of 'lucky dips' I handed over the £5 and was disheartened to just receive a glorified till receipt. SUCKERS!
Are you really this adjective .... Hmmm trying to think of a word that describes what I mean to say that would not be a personal insult...?Quote: NathanAw man, I lost. 495, 5235. Andrew Karen,
Are you really chucking money at this dumb-ass lottery with it's 50% house edge? Do you really think that any number that is a 100% losing number is in some way 'close' to a winning number? What recreational drugs are you taking, and where can I get some?
$;o)
