About 30% of the water we consume here in Santa Barbara comes from a desalination plant that opened about 2 years ago. We are one of the very lucky locations on the Southern California coast that has a stable minimum water supply. Montecito, where some of the really wealthy Hollywood folks live, is right next door and they didn't want any part of this water when it was being built, now they are begging for it.

There is a process called 'desalinization' which does take the salt out of ocean water, making it safe for human consumption. I believe there are countries (Israel?) that are actually doing this for the general public. But it is expensive to do, and uses a decent amount of energy.

People will buy lots of things if Science and Health Experts says it's good for your health, Celebrities are shilling for it, people are trying it /Praising it on Social Media, people are doing it in real life. Charcoal USED to be mainly only for grilling delicious food on the Grill during barbeques, cookouts, etc, but in recent and current times, people are DRINKING Charcoal now and putting it in their hair and on their SKIN! You have a certain condition that can affect one's speech. You have a better understanding of language than the ability to speak, which could result in social anxiety, which is probably why you can't go to the event.

Not Doxxing per se, but clearly describing a personal trait that only certain folk could be confident of. I reckon it does a disservice or discourtesy to Nathan. But she knows how to contact him if she sees fit to comment.

I'm not a sock of a banned poster. The odds would be high that I am, something like 10 to 1, if the admins or moderators adhere to the truth. I'm not trying to draw attention. 7 posts before this one, most deal with the long history of the forum nobody in their right mind would bother investigating. Someone lurking long enough would have this knowledge, or someone that was told this history by someone that was a member. I don't know how you could prove or they could prove you were a previously banned member in the first place. If you had the same address or email address or used the same device, they might be able to do that. If you knew you were in another city with another email and another way of accessing the site, then you would know, you could not lose the bet, if you were a banned member. Sometimes people screw this stuff up anyways by linking the real and the fake by accident.

Long story short, I would not take a bet against you, I do not believe you are a banned member. I don't think you are a certain banned poster either.

On that subject, how in the pre-computer age did they measure a circle exactly enough to be able to figure Pi? Seems to me if you are off by even a .0001 place then all of your calculations would be useless?

On that subject and assuming you like geek math questions, in a math class we saw a presentation of some guy way back that spent 20 years of something calculating Pi to I forget how many hundred places, only to be wrong about 2/3 of the way thru. Is this something a guy like this did in his spare time? Or maybe he was a professor somewhere and put in a few hours a day.
