If none of my "New" numbers show up,(814, 192, 411, 811,894, 824, 104, 1298,1954,21,98) I promise to pay a $25 to this year's WOV Spring Fling and a $25 to a top 10 WOV Poster of my choosing unless something really bad happens to me. So, at worst I pay $100 again. At best I win and owe nothing, and at not too bad, I pay $50. Unless something really bad happens to me. ;) :/

Disclaimer. Remember that this is a four week bet. I refuse to say only two weeks only to have my picks show up in the third week like what happened last year. So four weeks is a lot of leeway. There is almost next to impossible chance that not at least ONE of my picks doesn't show up within four weeks. ;)

219(192) showed up today, so I probably only owe $50 so far! :D. Woo-hoo! My prediction showed up! :D

Nathan already apologized for that numerous times. Too bad some people here have to defy the Wizard's request for an apology. Just pretend she's Boz. That guy always gets the benefit of the doubt

What do we owe an apology for? Nathan owes the forum one, in my opinion, although it would be as valid as the rest of his post.

Nathan has apologized

Wizard has spoken on his belief she is who she claims through video proof and questions correctly answered

The point of an apology is for one person to ask forgiveness. Generally you accept it unless one can validly claim its hollow(Doubtful since she facetimed the Wizard) or there is intent to repeat the transgression neither of which I see here

Once I bumped into someone and apologized. They kept screaming I had bumped into them until I finally had to scream that I already apologized and if that wasnt accepted THEN the situation was going to escalate. Was that what they wanted?

My point is we are all the ones escalating the issue at this point. I hope we arent posting in 2031 how egregious Nathan was for catfishing back in 2016.

Best to move on. Its forum members now keeping the issue alive.

Accept Nathans apology or stay out of her corner. Simple!

Notably a few new, but well informed members stirring the pot (almost exclusively). Funny that.

I would estimate about 3/4 of this forum believed Nathan to be a hoax, probably a banned member playing a prank, who paid somebody for the "Nathan on a bus" picture and the video. I wish I had $1 for all the people who told me privately that Nathan was making a fool of me as an obvious joke. Those people, I think, owe her an apology. Not necessarily a public one, but at least a private one. I'll admit that Nathan has things to apologize for too, which she has.

I think I am one of those who told you that Nathan was making a fool of at least WoV, if not you personally. I stand by that comment.

So I speed read the first 50 pages of of this thread. My thoughts on this.
Nathan started off on the wrong foot by pretending to be a guy, something that's minor and in context not truly the same as "catfishing"--more on that in a moment. She apologized repeatedly, making amend by posting 2 videos of herself. For some reason that's not good enough and numerous members call her out and those videos for being fake, a catfish.

One member called her a man pretending to be a woman--which would really be catfishing-- because her original mistake had been acting as a man, that her confession was disingenuous, that she was still using deception. Numerous suspected that she was a man until her recent facetime with Wiz ( Bill Ryan still refers to her as "his"). The suspicion dragged on, which is partly why she was badly treated. The other reason could be racism, as Gordon pointed out.

My take is that her initial mistake was petty--Wiz thought so and had final say--and people still didn't want to give her a second chance, even after her apology. In a forum dominated my men, a female pretending to be male is not true catfishing, at least not as much as the other way around. Catfishing is when you use a fake persona to lure and target someone or to allure them using deceit of sexuality. Wiz just pointed out that many told him that he was being punked or catfished by a guy pretending to be a girl. Kudos to him for being unwavering and believing in her.

In literature, art and book publishing many female authors wrote under male pseudonyms, never the opposite. Jane Austen, Emily Bronte or Anne Rice to name a few, because female authors weren't equally accepted or aren't as marketable. Taylor Swift wrote one of her hits under a male alias because many critics thought a female artist couldn't write a hit by herself.

So why did Nathan initially act as a guy in a male-dominated forum? Maybe she wanted to fit in or be accepted. Maybe she was role playing. Maybe it was from self-esteem thing or out of loneliness. She did hit on another female member, who however turned out to be a guy catfishing her male persona and the board. While it was misguided she wasn't being malicious or alluring to anyone, her male persona just blending in as another guy in an almost all male message board. If you hate her for using a male identity, it's not because she was using deception to fool you, but because you're sexist. Note that Wiz observed that most of the board thought she was a man masquerading as a woman. This is because they couldn't accept that it was the other way around.

Totally agree.

Everyone reading should remember that Nathan had to put up with abuse from numerous members for 2+ years. Unlike Boz who lost his cool 14 times without getting nuked, Nathan didn't lose her cool a single time. She even offered multiple apologies.

Then one day her critics were proven WRONG. But instead of doing the right thing and honoring the Wizard's request above in bold, they want to pick up their toys and go home. lol

To answer our new members, DarrenG, and qudriga, who only seemed to join to discuss the importance of analyzing the site's reaction to Nathan, I was always aware Nathan was an actual human poster. I just believe that the continuous drivel of guessing lottery numbers on a daily basis, and ridiculous gambling "advice" she has given (and been suspended for after multiple warnings) are a negative stain on the credibility of this site. I mean think about it, there are two new posters who are not mentioning their VP techniques, or comp usage, or baccarat streaks, but rather, who needs to apologize to our resident lottery number guesser.

A lot of AP's take pride in being a forum member here including myself

But aside from seeking advice from the Wizard himself and perhaps some of articles by the mods new members seeking advice will only find AP's mum and infuriated at any advice leaked

So if anyone is coming here for advice it really shouldn't be from our forum members who are either AP's unwilling to share or non-AP's with bad advice

So I dont see Nathan as a "negative stain" for the forum. Aside from seeking advice from the mods most new members will need to look elsewhere for good advice out of necessity

I disagree. I would wager that the majority of active posters are rec gamblers, and there are many here who have a breadth of knowledge and are more than willing to share. I personally have gotten good advice about hotels, hosts, comps, cruises, etc. I have even given a bit of good advice here and there, if I do say so myself.

If you are saying that an aspiring AP won't get any good advice, I refer you to ZK, who received good advice publicly on this board. Also, as I understand, AP's from this board met him in person and were willing to share things with him they did not feel appropriate to post publicly. I think a genuine AP newb who shows a passion to put in the work would get a warm reception here.

Now, if someone came in here and posted something like, "Hay Guise, I wanna make boatloads of ca$h in the casino, tell me how!" then yes, I doubt he would get very much help.

As to SOOPOO's point, I kinda have to agree. People who are new here might not be able to tell which posters give good advice, and which give uninformed advice. You know, the WOO site says (or at least it used to) that if you have an "Ask the Wizard" type question, to post it here. If I had no prior knowledge of the WOV forum, and I posted a question like that here, I would be very disappointed if the replies were guesses and/or uninformed advice.

In addition, though it seems apparent you're just trolling the forum on a divisive topic, I reject your characterization of the forum abusing Nathan. Nathan has been the source of about 2 dozen suspensions over the time she's been here, to people calling out her nonsense posts .

She has also flooded, hijacked, and trolled this forum at various times, has been a constant thumbtacker, has spun elaborate "stories" several times, and has pretended to be a gaming expert while giving terrible advice to numerous newer members. This history can all be found in her posts, except for several threads too ridiculous to sustain that were deleted on inception.

But of course, the two of you are "new" members who just happen to think you should have an opinion on all of this. I hope you have more to contribute than these "sympathy" posts.

His magic. Doesn't he need magic to make the wand work? What if a Muggle got his hands on a wand, what would happen?

On the other hand, it’s the country’s largest nude beach.

Aha! Those crafty people knew what they were doing when they named it a generic name like Haulover Park! It's a nude beach, let's give it one of the most nondescript names of all time! It will take years before people find out it's naked secret! Muhahahaha! :D

The southern most of the many bridges that separates NYC from the mainland is called the OuterBridge Crossing. It's the only bridge or tunnel that is referred to as a crossing. I always thought it was a great name, it being the outermost way to leave the city.
Then I discovered it was named after a Major Outerbridge of Civil War.fame.
For a year or so, I lived in Flushing.
My cousins lived in Hicksville.

Anyone else have a much lower tax return this year? My tax return is only about $800 this year when it is usually about $1,000, so I'm out about $200 this year. My tax preparer claimed that Donald Trump took out many tax incentives which is why my refund is so crappy this year. Was my Tax Preparer giving me BS or did anyone else get a lower tax return this year?

You probably had less money taken out for taxes last year. I earned $1515 more last year than in 2017, but I paid $292 less in taxes. My health insurance trippled so my paychecks were about the same.

What you get back as a refund is not what you pay in paid in taxes. One of the reasons your refund is lower this year is that less was withheld each week. Most lower income workers are getting smaller refunds because the withholding amounts were lowered each week.
They will pay less in taxes but get smaller refunds.
From my addiction to court tv, I have learned that many lower income people borrow money from friends and neighbors, promising to pay them back when they get their tax return. This year, many of them will overall pay less in taxes , but get less of a refund.

Your explanation makes a lot of sense. :) I wonder why my Tax Preparer didn't give me an explanation similar to what you said rather th as claiming that Donald Trump took out a lot of tax incentives this year. Seriously? -.-

Celebrities who look alike? :) Who are not related as of public knowledge? ;)

I think John Cena and Mark Whalberg look alike especially when Mark was a Rapper named Marky Mark.

I think that Zoe Saldana and Thandie Newton look alike.

I think that Darrin Norris and Butch Hartman look alike.

I think Penelope Cruz and Paz look alike.

I think Erykah Badu and Lil Mama look alike.

That is fantastic. As you get older you will learn that keeping a good credit history will be very beneficial.

Work to get your credit score up to at least 720.

Wow, I had a weird dream that I impulsively chucked my working phone that I have in real life into an ocean just for fun. I remember in the dream thinking,"You idiot!" I then remember thinking" I'll tell my family that I dropped it and then threw it away because it no longer worked when they asked about it." And later on in the dream I had the phone in my house but it really wasn't working all that well. I remember thinking, "You really shouldn't have a phone at all! Your phone is in the Ocean! I soon woke up and saw my working real phone and thought," God, I'd never throw this phone into an Ocean! What a weird dream! "

Time for me to make a big confession. *Takes a deep breath.* Remember when I claimed that He Who Shall Not Be Named gave me a gift card that was already been used by the time that I sent it? Well I waited two months before I attempted to going shopping with the gift card. TWO MONTHS! On a side note, Wizard gave me permission to post this granted I didn't say the name. ;)

But if someone hands you a gift card there usually is no caveat like "use it fast before I do"

If you are suggesting it was your fault because your delay gave the scammer a chance to go collect the value himself that is still considered a scam in most everyones book

You shouldn't blame yourself in any way for that
