Damn....that really sucks for her. I don't want to say anything good about the person who snatched the bar code and stole her winnings....but damn -- brilliant!
The problem we have here is there may be a responsibility not to be stupid and to protect yourself and the casino.Quote: KentryI have heard in an actual casino, you can have the ticket voided if a slot "Fisher" steals your ticket. There should be some protocol if a Facebook poster steals your barcode.
2 People could be in cahoots with each other and use this to scam the casino. Someone makes a big bet and let's their partner counterfeit the ticket and cash it. Then the other person has proof they have the original and made the bet and demands payment.

If a voucher is voided, it won't get paid. I've seen people bring in photocopies of vouchers, home made ones, vouchers from other casinos, vouchers long since paid / expired.
The code is used once. If the ticket is compromised or damaged, it can be paid out without the actual ticket. Having the information handy from the slot machine or the ticket redemption kiosks, it can still be paid out... Once.
Say for instance the power goes out while you're playing a machine, with ~$1,000 in it. When the power comes back on, the ticket is stolen, but not cashed out. The ticket can be voided from the system, and if the credits are verified, the patron will be paid.
Whomever has the physical ticket at this point is just holding a piece of paper with some ink on it.

Since you brought it up, I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. Too soon? :-)
YES! :)Quote: 1BBSince you brought it up, I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. Too soon? :-)
Actually 1BB, you may wish me a Merry Christmas whenever you want, and I will appreciate it. But personally, I really don't want to see decorations or hear the music until at least after Thanksgiving. Heck, I went into Lowes two weeks ago, and they were all decked out for Christmas -- a week before Halloween!
I have also banned Mrs. Joeman from singing/humming Christmas carols, which she will occasionally do throughout the year, until then as well! :) We have compromised on the "non-Christmas" Christmas songs, however (Jingle Bells, Winter Wonderland, Sleighride, etc. -- the ones that reference the season, but don't specifically mention anything about Christmas). She can sing those as long as it is snowing somewhere in the world.
Kind of a special number I thought.
It will take a while to get to page 2222, though page 1234 isn't that far away....

I found a package in a cave with an old friend. I haven't seen this person in nearly 10 years. No idea why we were in a cave but the package was $250k cash. It turns out that it was a drop place for the Russian mob. They spend the entire night chasing me. I woke up 2 times during the chase and when I fall asleep it starts right where it left off. At the end I rat on my buddy and say he has the cash and they go after him. I open the package and it is counterfeit money that is so poorly done that I could never even pass it off at a lemonade stand. Then I wake up. Wtf is going on? If I have the same dream tonight I am not going back to sleep when I wake up.
Yeah, money is no object. Go for it. Move ahead. Try to detect it.

Quote: TwoFeathersATLI am haunted most nights by my dreams, there's people after me or something else not good. It is often disturbing, and often wakes me up. I too frequently find myself back in the same dream again. The one bright spot I can find is that deceased members of my family are part of the story in my dreams, especially my father and mother and sister. To again interact with them, at varying stages in their lives, even though the timeframes are all mixed up, is a wonder to me. Also scares the hell out me. It's all so clear, and then I wake up in a cold sweat. Why can't I have the kind of realistic dreams that I want to have? You know the ones ;-)
Sigh, here it is 3 am and I am awake again. This is getting crazy. At least it was a different dream but it still centered around being chased by the mafia.

Flying without wings, plane, or jetpack? That's general audiences approved.
He's now an Italian restaurant and business owner(Great authentic Italian food). He closed down his place and invited us to stay and even broke some rules (He comped everything without us even asking ).
He had some great old school stories about some well known Vegas Icons. He actually knew some people I knew with accurate details, therefore adding credibility. He didn't say anything over the top or unbelievable. I actually think he held back and under-exaggerated.
What a treat and fun experience.
I'm hoping next time he will agree to allow me to mention his name and business. He had no shortage of business as the place was full.

I had an old-time casino host at the Las Vegas Hilton in the late 90's-early 00's who used to tell the stories of being mobbed up. Don't know if anybody else on here ever met him, but he was either the Real Deal or so good at it I was completely fooled. Old gravel-voiced Italian in his late '70s named Jim Barbera, he retired soon after I got him, and I have to think he's gone, but maybe not.
Anyways, he said among the places they liked were (downtown) whatever was in the Plaza 40+ years ago (not sure what the place was called), and before and during that (strip) the place in the Flamingo . There may well have been others, but I didn't know enough about Las Vegas at the time to retain the names.

DJ's just feeling lucky I guess.......
<edit> Now I have to watch the game and not just the commercials.......
Interesting. I would have thought safeties in the Superbowl to be very rare. However, there appears to be 9 safeties in the 49 Superbowls to date, or once every 5.4 games. At 8:1, I think DJTB has the edge if history is any indication, but I'm guessing that Wizard uses more than just a Wikipedia page to plan his bets!Quote: WizardLet the record show that I bet $800 on "no safety" in the 2016 Super Bowl to win $100 with DJTeddyBear.

What if you look at every game ( OK, just every Pro game ) that has ever been played? Now where is the money?
<edit> I noticed 7:1 became 8:1.

Not just that. Four out of the last seven Super Bowls have had a safety. However, I think that is just a coincidence. The overall average for all NFL games is about 1 game in 20, which I think is the more useful statistic. I'm sure this will debated again as the Super Bowl draws near.

Quote: GWAEI just booked 4 tickets to Tampa for 3 days in Jan. Is there anything to do there. I only did it because it was $73 for 4 round trips on spirit. Rental car will be 48 and hotEl will be under $50. I uses some points to get those prices. Now I just have to figure out what to do for fun there.
Terapined would be your best source for that, but the Hard Rock Tampa is the largest casino in Florida and probably larger than most in Vegas. You don't say whether the kids are coming along, but I'm guessing with 4 tickets...
Busch Gardens is a great amusement park, very affordable for you with young kids (pricing) and lots of animals and rides.
Weekie Watchee Springs is glass-bottom boat rides and mermaids.
St. Petersburg is an interesting downtown, a mix of Old Florida, antiques and boutiques, funky restaurants, a beautiful park on the pier nearby.
Lots of deep-sea fishing opportunities. Also catamaran sailboats for 1/2 day trips.
Many beautiful white sand beaches on the nearby Gulf of Mexico.
Tarpon Springs is about 1/2 hour north; a traditional Greek fishing village with many festivals.

Thanks for that info BBB.
We will be arriving at 830 am Saturday and leaving at 750 monday. We are thinking about taking the kids to a Disney park on the Sunday. Looks like it is under 2 hours away. I have a friend that can get us a room in Disney for $40 a night but would only have time for 1 park.
Just like our quickie Vegas trip last month we will be trying to do this trip for under $500. Not even sure I could do a Disney park for 1 day for that.

GWAE,
IMHO, your kids are too young for Disney. It's a huge slog, and they'll be tired in 3-4 hours and cranky all day. When the youngest is at least 4, preferably older, that's when you'll get your money's worth. Add the hour or so (depends on where you're staying, but the parks are on the Tampa side of Orlando) each way and they'll be exhausted. And it will cost you a minimum of $500 for one day in a Disney park, not including very expensive food.
check out the offers here, especially the CityPass. You get the best 5 attractions in Tampa including Busch Gardens for 99/89. And the baby may be free (I don't know, sorry). EDIT: I checked all the CitiPass attractions; the baby goes free. So you're under 300 for all of you to all 5 things.
