News item about ten grand asset seizure last june in West Virginia. Pregnant woman forced to stand at side of road for two hours, husband handcuffed but arrested or charged, wife threatened with arrest if she made phone call from side of road about cops counting money out of their view, gambling winnings and player cards seized.

Usual pretext of 'wavered in lane' immediate inquiry as to how much money do you have on you?

Don't know why this item was posted in a new Orleans site on September first.

Wow. McDonalds has a promo today for any size brewed coffee such as iced cappuccino for $1.00. And their coffee is very good IMHO - better than Starbucks. I'm saying this and I don't think much on MickeyDees menu is good. Coffee is the exception since they upgraded it. MickeyDees has a lot of financial power to offer something like this.

they never tell you how long their promos run.

I think the issue is not so much your leaving with your money but your arriving at your destination without having been waylaid by Bandits in Blue who focus primarily on Asset Forfeiture via highly selective traffic enforcement dealing with out of state vehicles on known drug trafficking routes or other routes known to have vehicles likely to contain currency.

Any idea why this somewhat stale dated incident is suddenly in the news?

Starbuck's coffee beverages sold in super markets make a great deal of money and McDonald's has recently launched its own line of caffeinated and sugared milk products in similar packages.

The promo may be more tied to supermarket sales than to location sales.

I think because the couple finally got their money back recently. They were able to "win". That just happened recently.

Ate just a small portion of a ghost pepper, thank god it was only a sliver. What I didn't like was how hot it was of course, but also how bad it tasted. Shame something really hot can't taste good too. So bitter and disgusting. Yup forgot to take out my contacts, couldn't wash my hands good enough, touched both eyes, and wound up ruining the contacts from the exposure. I could not rinse off the pepper residue, so had to throw them out. Have to admit, it was kind of weirdly enjoyable to not be able to keep my eyes open more than a second. The hot pepper contact with my eyes forced my eye lids to spasm shut, now only if they had a drug for that, could make sleep easier possibly.

Last year we talked about magicians on AGT. Last episode there was a hypnotist that made Howie shake hands.

I do not believe that someone can be hypnotised. There were people in the audience that appeared to be also. They also wouldn't show the actual being hypnotised on TV.

What is your thoughts on this act. I call BS but that's just my opinion

Here I go again with these damn magicians on AGT. I love love love magic. I now strongly believe that magic is either real or AGT is full of crap and camera tricks are being used.

these are incredible. So much so that there is no possible way that it is happening.

The vest definitely had invisible pockets and some other things. I didn’t think any of the tricks required a deck that was tricked.

There are times when he basically makes cards disappear and reappear somewhere else. I made my DVR move as slowly as possible and it just appears to do exactly that. Cards just vanished. If I ever see evidence that some of this magic is just camera tricks it will make me sad. It will be the same as when I found out that Millie Vanilli didnt actually sing.

Nope and probably wouldn't. I don't like these hot things, they're only hot and have no taste I enjoy. IF they were hot and had some good flavor, it would be different. It's probably true, there can never be anything so hot that tastes good.

very interesting true crime documentary, especially to me because I used to hang out a lot in Atlantic City.
a serial killer murdered 4 street girls in Atlantic City in 2006 and probably a few elsewhere and has never been caught.
they call him the Eastbound Strangler because he always leaves his victims with their heads facing east.

What's your favorite site for cheap flights?

Why isn't there a thread for being a life nit?

free tips:

go to Home Depot and take the sample tiles home, one tile at a time until you have enough to decorate a kitchen

have a friend pay for food at a restaurant and offer to tip. don't leave a tip

eat only during graveyard specials (20% tip is like $0.50)

don't use turn signals, wastes time

cut past old people at the cashout kiosks since they slow AF (walk with the ticket out in front of you and shove it in the machine so they can't do nothin)

claim a place is racist when they won't let you in

replace computer parts and return them. Walmart or somehwhere not a computer store since they actually check

slow roll people in poker so they go on tilt so you make more money in hourly

bring doggy bags to buffets (a vegas classic)

get a service dog that likes to fart a lot so you never have to sit next to anyone on a plane

stiff people on AP deals, but come up with some story that makes it seem like they are ripping you off first

get a credit line with a bookie and stiff them obvi

bark out in game bets while standing right next to the ticket writer at the sportsbook, and bail if the line moves against you

buy Steam games and finish them in under 3 hours (or was it 2?) to get a full refund.

become a UX creator. stimulates the local economy, by local I mean yours

find a craps table with dealers that dont do math goodly and throw out complicating bet combos, if you lose, say it was something else

buy the same thing twice at a food place, and dispute the charge on the credit card so you get a refund

make change at church during collection, but instead of 5 $1's for a $5, grab $6 (this adds up over time)

for the tipping stuff above, pretend your Canadian or European so you can get away with not tipping

find out which donut shops throw out old donuts in a clean bag, and pick it up when they throw it out

vote for politicians that will cut services you aren't using, damn snowflakes

bring the cheapest beer you can to a party and eat/drink as much as you can to maximize cost/reward

quarter rolls for tipping cocktail waitresses and stripppers

start a gofundme for some random illness and use the money to try and spike something on UX $5

rob drug dealers, what are they gonna do, go to the cops?

I think that only applies if you book 7 days ahead on most airlines. I don't know RS's situation. but I have showed up for flights not realizing that I had booked it the wrong direction.

BTW, I don't believe that American Airlines does that. Once booked it is booked but they do allow you to reserve the flight for 24 hours without booking it.

Apparently that is correct. I knew it had to be booked at least 7 days in advance but there are 2 options that airlines have.

Under the DOT’s regulations, as long as a customer books a non-refundable ticket at least seven days ahead of the scheduled departure, an airline is required to offer one of two options: allow that customer to change or cancel the trip within 24 hours without penalty, or hold that reservation at the current price for 24 hours without payment.
While the regulations seem fairly straightforward, it should be noted that airlines are not required to offer both of the options, just one of them. That’s where things can get tricky, especially in the case of American Airlines – B.’s airline of choice for his flight.
Unlike nearly all the other domestic airlines which subscribe to the policy of allowing a passenger to purchase a flight and make changes within 24 hours at no charge, American only allows customers to hold their seat and fare for 24 hours without payment.

glad to know that. As long as RS was outside of 7 days on spirit he could have at minimum changed his flight.

All the media hype about hurricane Florence seems to have been way overdone, given it made landfall as only a category 1 storm.

Oh sure things will get soggy and some will suffer but it does not appear to be the armagedon / storm of a lifetime which the nattering nabobs had proclaimed was about to befall us all.

Some will suffer and die, and lives will be ruined, but it’s not as many as we thought it would be.

The issue is that the less it’s “hyped”, the more people will not evacuate and more will die.

It’s a bad hurricane and people are going to die and lose their homes. I think the coverage was fine.

Flooding becomes a disaster when people are not there to take care of their homes.

Coastal communities have boats yet few communities use flat beds to bring kayaks inland to high ground and have plenty of boats available for rescue duty.

One humane shelter was sensible.... they waived all adoption fees as the storm approached.

Almost like crying "Wolf!"

No, not really. It's a slow motion storm. It's only started. First the storm surge, which as flooded some coastal communities. Huge rainfall over days while the storm sits due to upper-level steering currents, crawling southwest for several days.

Then the still saturated air curls around against the east side of the Appalachians and runs northeast, which puts all that water on the lee side, and all runs back down into those same NC communities via streams and terrain.

The flood crest will be several feet higher in those communities than ever previously recorded, and they won't be truly at peak stress until next Tuesday or Wednesday.

Very different from a strong-wind fast-moving tearing up storm, but could be deadlier due to flooding and drowning. The wind downgrade could actually kill more people than a fast-moving storm as people return to their evacuation points thinking it's over and get trapped by rising water.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

It's dinner time at the convent, and all the nuns are sitting at the table.

The mother superior stands and says "I just learned that we have a case of gonorrhea at the convent."

A voice responds "Good, I was getting tired of the chardonnay."
"What, me worry?"

Two women sue Rivers Casino for Invasion of Privacy and related wiretap violations in the Ohio court of Common Pleas (trial court of general jurisdiction).

Husband (and cop) served what plaintiff's deem an obviously invalid subpoena on casino and security staff promptly disgorge massive player card data, ATM data, screen captures of her phone numbers and messages being blown up, images of persons in close proximity to her all to aid Husband in his custody dispute with wife.

Scientific study of GAMBLING MONKEYS - the monkeys prefer longshots. just like human monkeys.

from the article:

"This study involved two monkeys that learned to play a computer game that gave them drops of juice when they won. The monkeys played voluntarily because they liked to gamble, Stuphorn says.
The game offered two options. The first was a juice reward that was guaranteed, but usually small. The second was a gamble: It might bring a lot of juice, or none.
The monkeys moved their eyes to indicate their choice in each round.
"They're always tempted to go for it," Stuphorn says. "They're going for the big win every single time," even when safe bets would have won them more juice overall.
Stuphorn's team suspected that this preference for long shots was linked to activity in a small area of brain in the prefrontal cortex that's involved in eye movements. When a monkey won big, brain cells in this area got really active.
But that jump alone didn't prove that these cells were affecting the monkey's behavior. So the researchers did another experiment that temporarily inactivated the brain area by cooling it.
And once the area was inactivated, the gambling monkeys played it safe. The monkeys were more likely to choose the guaranteed juice option, Stuphorn says"

I have been waiting for more info to come out about it. Local news ran a few stories when it happened but never gave the details. I assumed it was something like you just posted. I dont think the casino should be liable. If he is a cop probably had docs that were real or looked spot on so how is the casino supposed to know? Only way I think they are in the wrong is if they didnt follow procedure, like make there is a rule that if there is a subpoena they are supposed to get lawyers involved first.
Expect the worst and you will never be disappointed. I AM NOT PART OF GWAE RADIO SHOW
