It's so easy to let a sleep cycle get totally disrupted. I've been pretty much cooped up at home for the greater part of the last couple weeks and it makes it feel like time doesn't matter. I watched something like 17 continuous episodes of The Good Place last night and went to bed as it was getting light out. I don't like the concept of regularity and the 9-5 Monday to Friday, so it suits me fine.

I have been retired for 9 years yet I still go by a sleep schedule as most older people do. I go to bed at 12:00 am (usually) and get up 7-8 am. The difference is if I wake up during the night and can't get back to sleep I get up and watch tv or go on the computer until I get tired. I also don't sleep during the day unless I had a bad night.

When I worked I always thought I would sleep whenever once I retired but I still sleep about the same as before retirement.

So no naps? If I was retired, half my free time would be napping. Hahaha.

I used to be a big practitioner of power naps, but have gotten away from them entirely the last few years. A few weeks ago, I lay down for what was intended to be a fifteen minute nap and woke up five hours later.

I envy people who are even able to take naps or donít have trouble sleeping. I have little chance of being able to sleep during daytime unless running a pretty bad sleep deficit. Zero chance of sleeping in a plane or any sort of moving vehicle unless completely skipped a night.

I try to plan as many as my trips as possible to be Red-eye flights. I pop an Ambien and will sleep the whole way accross country. As long as I get four hoursof sleep I function fine after that.

I am another person who does not sleep in a plane. We took a red eye from Vegas and I still did not sleep a wink and that is after being up from 8 am the morning of the flight. I remember getting up to use the washroom at 4am and did not see another person awake. I watched ed two movies to kill time until the plane landed. I then had a 90 minute drive home.

I certainly have the time to nap but it does interfere with my night time sleep if I do. Really don't seem to get tired much. I used to watch my dad go to bet at 9pm when he was old and then would wake up at 5am. He would complain he always woke up too early. I said stay up later but of course he was too tired at night. That might be the reason I stay up until midnight most nights.

I used to be exactly like you on both aspects. At some point, that all changed.
