Each segment is relatively short, but incredibly rich.
No.Quote: strictlyAPis there a way to block threads from one person?
Good question.Quote: strictlyAPwhat in the world does this have to do with gambling and why would you feel the need to post this on here
I submit that posting this here, rather than on the DT board, combined with Nareed's "boo hoo, nobody visits DT" thread yesterday should be enough to qualify her for a suspension of a day or two...
i might be wrong..but it's posted in off-topic, so if you are only looking for gambling stuff....don't go to OFF-TOPIC
Now that you mention it, maybe the Off-Topic section should be closed.
1) Why didn't anyone denounce this post: https://wizardofvegas.com/forum/off-topic/off-topic/12267-meteor-shower-tonight/

Nonsense. But 2) does.
Happy?
Perhaps because we're aware of the Wizard's fascination with eclipses, that a meteor shower kinda falls under the same category.Quote: Nareed1) Why didn't anyone denounce this post: https://wizardofvegas.com/forum/off-topic/off-topic/12267-meteor-shower-tonight/
There are methods of ignoring a user's posts, as well as specific threads, but not the general "any thread created by a specific user" which was the question I responded to.Quote: Nareed2)
Yes, there is, you nitiwit ;)
Yeah, but I'm sure that most of us ARE aware, which is why we didn't object to your post about the meteor showers.Quote: MoscaI was completely unaware of Wiz's fascination with eclipses.
Al least, that's my own reason for not objecting.
And if I wasn't dealing for my poker league, I'd have been out looking for shooting stars, thanks to you.
1) Mandated a hard rule that no non-gambling posts happen here at all, nor
2) closed the Off-Topic section
Based on the above, I don't believe this post qualifies as "spam" any more than any other off-topic post. But clearly Nareed was trying to get suspended with the "nitwit" comment, as she noted.

This is ridiculous. Her other post was just trying to rustle up some traffic. Especially with new people joining WoV all the time, I don't see any problem with a little cross-promotion.

This is true. It is just a suggestion that topics that have absolutely nothing to do with Vegas and gambling, and especially topics about politics and religion, be posted on DT. Since there are a lot of scientific types here at WoV, posting about a meteor shower here is perfectly fine. I wish I could have seen it.
I know DT does not have the audience of this site, but a post there will remain in the "recent posts" list a lot longer, and I think may get more thoughtful replies, as it is a tighter group over there.

I am not sure what you mean by tighter.... The top 5 posters have made around 1/2 the total posts on DT. The top poster exceeds 15%! Its a small group of people talking to a small group of people!
Yeah, you're right.Quote: AcesAndEightsThis is ridiculous. Her other post was just trying to rustle up some traffic. But I think you might have missed my point.
If Nareed wants more traffic over there, as evidenced by that thread I mentioned, perhaps she should have put this thread over there.
After all, the more content that site has, the more appeal it will have.
If the podcasts are not about Vegas... please: the other site.Quote: NareedIt's a series telling the History of Rome
Quote: 1BBWould it help if a thousand or so members from here joined DT in a show of support for the Wizard? What if they never post? Would the site be better off with a few members who post or a lot who don't? I don't see the Wizard twisting anyone's arm to join.
I joined; I posted, but I have another forum for my "regular" conversations and come here for gambling-related stuff and to banter with Buzz.
And DT is visually unpleasant.
“Sir,"she said,"you are no gentleman!"
An apt observation,"he answered airily."And, you, Miss, are no lady.”

Quote: MoscaFrankly, I posted that here instead of at DT solely so that more of my forum friends would see it, and possibly enjoy the meteor shower.
And that's what I was doing, too. But apparently the rule is anyone can post off topic from time to time, except Nareed. You weren't told to go away, nor did anyone suggest you be suspended for daring to waste precious seconds from banal arguments on the fine points of BJ strategies.
Quote:IMO if you don't want off topic subjects, remove the off-topic option. Or, move DT here as a sub-group. Or give it some other unifying purpose, because right now it doesn't have one.
Oh, but that would actually work! Who wants that?

Maybe it has something to do with signal to noise ratio? It's sort of like how, if you get caught speeding once, you pay a fine and move on (or maybe even get off with a warning), but if you get caught 20 times they take your license away.
