We know they randy young 'ums been doing da nasty.
I say preggers....
Quote: WizardI voted for "not pregnant," but I'm biased because I'm the one who has the other side of the bet. Miley is my good little girl and wouldn't let me down like that.
Riiiiiight. The female body has a way of, you know, shutting that down.
But the lack of confirmation seems to point to "not."

That's nice. I know that these teenage stupidstars shouldn't be the only role models for young people, but why can't they put the horse in front of the cart when they make their choices? Teenage birth out of wedlock is generally the recipe for a quick trip to Poverty Lane for many "regular" people and it often ends up in decades of government assistance. I'm tired of it being glorified when people like this end up pregnant because it is a horrid example for young fans.
If they are "engaged" and indeed planning on getting married, why not get married and then get pregnant?
This wager covered a time span of more than 4 years in duration. It was made when Miley was 16. The actual wager was "Miley Cyrus will either get pregnant or be in drug rehab by her 21st birthday." The bet was even money. Two years later additional money was wagered at 3:2. Right now, I'd say a fair line is about 4:1.
Quote: IbeatyouracesWhat does marriage have to do with it? I'm not married, never was and have kids. They are well taken care of and never had any government assistance. And she is worth millions anyway.
I'm sure you've done a great job as a parent. I am also sure she can afford to be a parent single or married.
The point is that she is a role model to young girls and the example she would set by getting pregnant out of wedlock is not a good one. The point I am trying to make is that it would be so much better to set a good example and get married and then get pregnant. Glorifying teenage and/or single parenthood is not a great thing. It isn't that single parents or teen mother should be treated as outcasts; it is just that the percentages seem to be against them.
"Approximately seventy percent of single-parent mothers live in poverty, earning less than $13,000 annually."

It makes sense--one parent having to do everything is a lot harder than having two to share the load. It happens, but it shouldn't be the norm.
In this case, I'm hoping that her engagement works out and she has a long happy marriage. I'm not against her and I don't hate people who end up pregnant out of wedlock...I just think it is a poor example to glorify.
Quote: FinsRuleMiley Cyrus is a role model to young girls???? It's like what Charles Barkley said. She should not be a role model, parents should be role models.
I understand that they shouldn't be the only role model but it is also kind of a cop out on Barkley's part. Sure, all of you can pay me millions of bucks to do what I do best but I have no obligation to be any kind of a role model. Watch me but don't look up to me.
Do you think the publicity that celebrities get doesn't influence people? If it doesn't, why would people want Air Jordans?
something?

I guess my point is that the people that will be influences by celebrities are people that are going to do stupid stuff no matter what.

I fully agree...let's just give them any extra ideas for stupid things to do!!
Quote: PokeraddictEvery time I wonder if I am a degenerate I see people making bets on things like whether someone is pregnant or not and it makes me feel better about my level of gambling.
General gambling is a step above wagering on Roman gladiators killing each other and uh, teen pregnancy wagers. I can go with that.
I doubt that any teenage girl cares that she is a role model for her tween and teen fans.
This is the same girl who turned an ice cream cart into a stripper stage complete with pole. (party in the USA)
If anything she may be a role model for the sexual liberation of teenagers, not marriage and traditional family values.
Even Sarah Palin junior had a kid by the age of 17.
Let's not pick on this kid,
She' just bein Miley...

She'll be 20 in a couple months. She'll disappear
completely soon enough. Too old.
Annette Funicello is going to grow up someday too.

Nope.
