Flamingo also arguably has the most hookers per capita trolling around, so they got that going for them.

I wonder why not the high end casinos, like the Wynn or Venetian.

What's the weather like around this time of year? Only ever been to Vegas once myself, and it was in the middle of December.
This feeling is heavy, makes my body ache and I'm ready; To fall into the sky and I see now, the reason why. My heart is heavy, takes me to a place I can't breathe. Only then I know why I see the warning sign.

It's something she would like more than him, but it is something that should be done as a couple. They will try to sell you a souvenir photo package. If you are going perhaps scope out the route and try to get a picture of them with your phone or something over one of the bridges if that is something they want instead. It's a little overpriced IMO, but what else do you expect in a tourist trap like the strip?

By the way, I was the oldest of 4 growing up and my father took us each to Las Vegas for our 21st birthday although my trip was a couple months after my 21st (stupid college not accommodating my schedule) but it is something all four of us have remembered ever since, and talking to my father, all four of the trips were different in their own way that was to the specific person's liking. Mine, we spent more time gambling, and going around town finding those $6.99 steak dinners where we would play a little video poker at the bar afterwards, my sister's was more about hanging out at the pool and my two younger brothers was more about the golf. What I would advise is that since it is for her, let her set the itinerary, if you even do that sort of thing. Also, since it is for her 21st birthday, let any restaurants know that you are there celebrating her birthday, many times they will give you a dessert or something like that on the house.

This date is coming up soon, and I just bought a GoPro Hero4 Black series to document some fun activities. Planning to head out to race a Lamborghini around the track at the speedway for $300 for 5 laps, and take the Sky Jump off the Stratosphere for $120 wearing the camera. Anyone think of anything else fun to film?

Pretty dumb and totally expected that they won't let you film yourself. Were I you I'd skip the Strat jump and put that money plus the track cash on a rental. Think you can get a 458 for about $100 an hour, or a McLaren for a bit more. 4-6 hours is plenty of time to get out of the city and find a fun road, and then you can film yourself doing whatever you want.

Just remember what "GoPro" translates to on the street - "Evidence". Don't f@$! up =)

My wife and I have asked her and her boyfriend what they'd like to do and usually I get a shrug and, "I don't know". I've seen a few things mentioned in the Forum, like the "Countdown Escape", but she hasn't given an indication if she is interested. I know we're getting her a birthday cake from Jean Philippe's at the Aria and plan on sneaking it back into the Cosmo since "outside food" isn't allowed. I appreciate the tip about letting the restaurants know it's her birthday. I kind of think she's going to ditch my wife and I and go do stuff with her boyfriend which is fine by me. I'm trying to convince her that a pizza from the "Hidden Pizzeria" at the Cosmo along with the cake would be the best birthday dinner ever, but she's not buying it. I won't encourage gambling, but if she wants to try any, I'll be on hand to give her some advice. I appreciate your advice, take it easy.

It depends a lot on what kind of folks the 4 of you are, but if it's her first trip to Vegas, and the kids are half-mature, half-adults or better, I'd plan a couple hours wandering on Fremont Street (downtown), taking in the roof shows, the sidewalk acts, the whole carnival of it. Get deep fried oreos at Mermaids. Go upstairs in The D and play the horses for quarters. Go see the big hunk of gold at Golden Nugget. Hit the Heart Attack Grill and split a burger 4 ways. Have a drink at the Plaza and meet the DeNiro greeter. Do all the silly stuff. It's cheap, everything's close by, you can watch out for each other, and there's no place like it on earth.

We took her last summer and she road "Slotzilla", we saw a few bands playing and the light show at the Fremont. Tried to get her to pose with "Gene Simmons" but she wouldn't. The experience may be better once she's 21. I like it up at the Fremont, it definitely is fun.

Scratch this one. I think BBB may have had a brain freeze on this one. While Sigma Derby seems like a game suitable for kids and seems like something you might find in an arcade, it's a gambling games. Not only can kids not play, but I am not sure they can even get upstairs to watch. I guess maybe if you were on the way to the D grille, they can be upstairs, but thy aren't going to be allowed to even stand there and watch.

Maybe I misunderstood, but I thought this was a 21st birthday trip for the daughter (assumed, perhaps wrongly, that the boyfriend was of age as well). I was talking about 21 year olds (legal).

No biggie kewlj, I may not have typed something clearly in the earlier posts. The boyfriend is 25 turning 26 and my daughter is turning 21 on the day we arrive. They'll both be "legal" for most activities in Vegas so they should be able to find something to do. She'll just be showing her ID a lot, she doesn't look 21. I figure we'll hit a bunch of the tourist trap stuff like the neon sign graveyard, might even look into a helicopter tour for them. Then again, I had a lot of bad experiences in helicopters, that might not be a good idea.

More suggestions:

I like going up to Red Rock Canyon, but of course depending on when you go, it can be craaaazy hot outside. Since it is on the West side of the city, you would need a car to get there. That could be combined with a breakfast or lunch at the Red Rock casino, which although it is a "locals" place, it has a very nice luxurious feel to it.

I have also always enjoyed the Mac King afternoon comedy/magic show at Harrah's.

I had thought about Red Rock, but it's the end of July and the heat will be pretty bad until 2200 or later at night. She likes hiking, but she's not a morning person so by the time we head out it will be too warm in the morning. The idea of a lunch or breakfast though at the Red Rock casino sounds like a nice break from the hectic strip. Just wish the Sugar Factory on the Strip hadn't shutdown. The wife and I used to like the dry ice goblets they used to make even though they were pricey, I thought they were worth it on a hot day. My daughter wanted to try one, but that option is gone.

When I came to Vegas for my 21st, I looked too young to be there. I think I weighed about 130 dripping wet at my 21st birthday, which is almost sickingly skinny for a 21 year old male. We stayed off strip, due to my wanting to gamble. The pit boss suggested I go to the cage, and they would give me a wristband showing I was 21, so I wouldn't be asked everywhere I went, or by multiple people while sitting at the same blackjack table.

I used to get a sinking feeling when a security guard would stop and look at me and my GF playing. Nowadays when I'm with her at the casino. I can sense by just looking at the security guard if he's going to card her. They just have a certain look and body language. I say to her, "Get your ID out, your about to get carded in 10 seconds"

In AC at the GN, they did actually freak me out last year. My GF hit a hand-pay, so I went to secure the money. She was playing solo for about 20 minutes, as I was walking back up to her. I hear security talking on the radio. saying, "Is that her". Suddenly as he approached her, I hear "OK WE NEED TO SEE SOME ID." It was not the typical age check situation, especially with 2 of them. But, It was just an ID check.

I asked the security if the guys watching the cameras are actually looking for under age gamblers? He said, yes when the club is busy.

We need somebody to update the first post of this thread with everybody's info.

Anyway, I am going to be in town very, very close to now until a time not so close to now.

Would you suggest that the dates must be firm in order to post dates in this thread? I know I am coming in December, and I have a four day spread for both my Arrival Date and my Departure date.

I don't think so, maybe put tentative next to the date
I always take the last 2 weeks off from work every year and plan a Vegas trip.

Tentative dates may help a member plan a trip such as a member see's Mission will be in Vegas and wants to meet him.
On the flip side, a suspended or nuked member may want to stalk you.

I may or may not be in Vegas now. I might be in AC, Tunica, Reno, Oklahoma or somewhere else. I'm certainly not in the Detroit area. 8-)
