Hey All

Well I am from South Africa and gamble at Monte Casino, probably the biggest and my favourite casino in SA. I have been a serious gambling for about 5 years but the last 2 years has been more social and entertaining gambling rather than profit orientated.

I generally play blackjack and in my years I have seen and experienced a wrong payout by the dealer a few times. When I just started I had 18 and the dealer 19 yet he paid me out and I stopped him and corrected him. As became more aware about the casino and some of their unethical/questionable behaviour (no clocks, taking very long with drinks etc) I realized I was playing a system and I was wondering if you had a loosing hand and the dealer paid you out and shuffled the cards and started dealing again would you stop him or let it slide ????

Final question I was playing and the guy next to me had 19 and I had 18 the dealer got 20 so I lost but he thought the guy next to me was a push so he left his money, then some random lady just standing said no wait dealer take his money to? Would you do the same or let it slide?

Do you view this as unethical or wrong, I mean you are playing a system designed to win so if you get a lucky break why not take it ?

Thanks

Mind your own business is the rule of the day.
I've seen fights and some serious threats to
people who pointed out a mistake the dealer
made that cost a player money. Do you really
want to be looking over your shoulder in the
parking garage? If the players getting screwed,
point it out. If the casinos getting screwed, who
cares.

Don't point out an error in someone else's favour.

You should point out a dealer error that hurts anyone, including you.

It's up to you to decide whether to point out an error that favours you. A lot of people stay quiet.

If you catch a dealer error in your favor, you should point it out. You wouldn't want the dealer to lose their job, and you be branded as a cheating confederate, would you?

Oh please. I played BJ for 30 years and saw
tons of errors and nobody lost their jobs or
accused anybody of cheating. In fact, the
dealer gets in more trouble when his mistake
is pointed out, because he has to call the pit
over and explain what happened. If you keep
quiet, chances are it will never be noticed.

Perhaps things are different in South Africa.

Not really when the dealer makes a mistake and it is not pointed out the game usually goes on and no-body really notices, bear in mind I am playing at a normal table and not in the high roller section. I just wonder if it is ethically wrong cause technically you are stealing from a system that is designed to have an edge so you are actually just beating the system not stealing from a person.
