How often has this happened? You've been playing for awhile with a player's card in a VP or slot, and you look down and it is not registering play?

Are you pretty sure it's your mistake, or do you think it's possible some malfunction disconnected you?

It is almost for sure that when you initially put your player’s card in the reader it did not register. This is very common. Sometimes you need to put it in quickly, sometimes you need to put it in slow. But once it acknowledges you you’re good to go.

It didn't register initially I would say almost all the time. Some readers are very sticky. But once it registers it stays registered unless you "time out". For CET that's about 10 minutes of not playing, iirc

As you said, ALMOST all the time. But I've seen enough faulty readers to say there has been a significant amount of times when it registered correctly at first and then later went out of whack.

And I've never played CET so I didn't know they time out. True story, never played Harrah's. I just refuse.

I've noticed it a time or two, but imagine it was something I did wrong. Either that or casinos are engaged in a long term conspiracy to rip off their clients, a nickel at a time.

At the Borgata, I get the “please reinsert card” message about 9 out of 10 times when I first start playing and put it in.

I have seen where a time-out was triggered by a bonus round.

If the time-out is short, say 3 minutes of inactivity I know at least one casino where a long bonus round with lots of spins will trigger an inactivity time-out.

The Borgata requires an angular push down as you insert the card. Next time try depressing with your finger the center if the card as you insert it.

Probably their magnetic readers aren't connecting with the magnetic strips

(On that tenth try you probably are so angry you depressed the center of the card in anger

It is not unusual for a player tracking system to have a communication error to the server and to automatically log out the player.
At my age, a "Life In Prison" sentence is not much of a deterrent.

Agreed on long bonuses, short error periods for abandoned cards which are not abandoned at all. Most people know, but have not mentioned using a cord is a recipe for having your card pulled out just by bumping the cord by turning your chair or merely glancing it. I have noticed cards go from accepted to not accepted with no reasonable explanation. Once at a casino, I put my card in and it immediately said error, see player's club for a new card. I just kept the card in while I played. As it turns out, although the card said error, it was accepted and was reading the play the entire time. ADT manipulation, was shot in 2.

Sometimes a frustrated shove is the best way to get that card working and to stay working!

All the time, usually when its point multiplier days, LOL. But ultimately its the players responsibility to ensure the card is read and remains read. I make it a habit to glance at the reader periodically to make sure it hasnt kicked me out. Same goes for table games, I usually follow up on my next visit, in my case the next day and see that it posted correctly. And since your reward points technically do not belong to you and the casino can take them away or change the rules, at anytime in my opinion, its best to use them vs letting it build up.

I know someone who received an incorrect amount that was automatically posted to their account by $10k points, equivalent to $10k in promo chips or free play. It was a nice ride for him until it mysteriously vanished one day
