Um, didn't he die in 2023, over 2 years ago? Am I missing a joke here, or am I the only one who actually reads the date and byline of a death notice or obituary?

If I am not mistaken, this isn't the first time a poster posted the death notice of a years long dead celebrity here.

Yep, they got me again,

And I was just about to report Val Kilmer too and then I checked the date cause of this post. Something is wrong with feeds of recently deceased people popping up.

I think I will have to simply do a google search every time I see a death notice.

Thanks.

Most weeks it only takes about 5,000sales to make the list. A celebrity like Frehley can do a couple of high-profile book signings and make the list.
The NY Times list used to be easy to manipulate, but it has become harder to do so. Authors would front-load by buying 5-10,000 copies of their book and either return them later or have the publisher sell them as needed.

I had a neighbor that took up guitar because of KISS back when they first hit the airwaves. KISS was not a band I followed very much but it was hard to ignore them as they bombarded the airwaves time and time again. I do think their pinball machines are cool though. I hit 2.443 million on the original KISS pinball machine in a free ball state back in the summer of 1979 on my 4th game ever on the machine (5 balls to start)! Take that to a replay state and the score is much lower at 1.274 million almost two years later.

This little trip vid down Fame and Fortune Lane is boom and bust of the worst sort.

How much Ace Frehley and Peter Criss earned in KISS

One commenter wrote: There is an error in this video. Peter and Ace did not start with a clean slate by filing bankruptcy. If you file bankruptcy you still have to pay the taxes you owe to the government. You cannot avoid taxes by filing bankruptcy. Other debts will be wiped away but not your debt to Uncle Sam. The same is true with student loan debt. If you owe the government money they force you to pay it. You might be able to negotiate with the IRS to reduce your interest and penalties.

Ace Frehley's biggest hit wasn't a Kiss song. His signature song "Back in the New York Groove" was a cover and his version was inspired by firsthand experiences with prostitutes in Times Square, he claimed.

He died after suffering a head injury from a nasty fall. I guess you could say he died the way he lived, getting a blow-head.

A major cause of injury and death among senior citizens every year is falling. Falling is not something I want to do so I'm very careful and I watch the falling videos that are meant for comedy on YouTube. They are very instructive on what not to do when you're walking especially on stairs. You have to keep your center of gravity slightly in front of you all the time so you can recover if you trip. Watch for the falling down stairs examples in this video and most of the people have their center of gravity behind them and not in front of them. They are not paying attention to what they're doing and that always comes with a price.\

If you can manage, three points of contact when ascending or descending. (That's two feet and a hand, or two hands and a foot touching... something solid.)

Use a handrail, go as slow as you need to for stability.

Even with as young and spry as I am, I managed to slip on some ice a year and change ago, and I still need to wear a brace on the afflicted knee on bad days.

And yes, falling is absolutely serious. Ashly's aunt slipped and fell on some wet concrete a few months ago, and died from her injuries a few weeks later. I believe she was in her sixties.
May the cards fall in your favor.

At least as far as I can tell, there's no other major artists doing KISS covers. I kind of feel like it's for when you're young, more rebellious and like music loud, plus it annoys the parents, and their appearance made your parents think you were headed for no good. (which you possibly were)

But most styles of music were outrageous at some point, except for possibly Muzak. Plenty of old symphonic works were audience shockers at one time,

If you fall, tuck your arms in towards your chest and do not try to break your fall with your hands. Unless you work out a lot, your wrists and elbows can not support your falling weight. Tuck your head in as much as possible, relax your body, try to land on your side and don't panic.

Just falling and hitting your head to death in your own studio sounds like a heart attack or stroke or a fainting spell occurred first. Maybe there was an electrocution.

I remember a radio contest where they played clips from 15 different songs. The very last clip was a guitar riff. A friend said it sounded like 100,000 years from kiss. I don't think I have heard that song to this day. The answer was it was the very end of led Zeppelin song rock and roll. Of course they had to make it challenging but some got all 15 songs correct. Good mix of songs called the classic collage

A new station (WAPP?) around the FM94 frequency ran a contest that had about 15 songs over 94 seconds. Some were easy, but some proved almost impossible. It was a fun contest. I believe I managed 11 which was better than average.

That was a bit they did on "WKRP in Cincinnati"! Make a contest so difficult they wouldn't have to award the prize—and someone got it!

As a disclaimer, I do not fall down. But I am 76 and on Elon musk's birthday I will be 77. When I'm walking outside I always use a cane. Not for support, for balance. That's why people have always used and still use walking sticks when they hike, it's for balance. Balance is everything. I constantly reassess my center of gravity, so much so that it's now a part of who I am. If you have the right center of gravity at all times your chances of falling are greatly diminished and if you do fall, serious injury is also diminished. The list of famous people and celebrities throughout history that injured themselves gravely or died as a result of falling is almost endless. People do not take it seriously enough. To enter my house I have to go up six steps to the top of the deck. On both sides of the steps I have a total of 15 nickel plated grab bars installed and they are continuously handy. If you are still relatively young and by that I mean in your 50s and even your 60s get ready Freddy. Once you hit 70 your life is about to change and you better change with it.

If you have ever had a child who is trying to walk as a baby, he has the muscles to do it. What you see in front of you is his brain trying to figure out how to keep his center of gravity correct so he can walk and not fall down. It's an amazing thing. And as you get older you start to lose that thing you learned when you were a year old, how to automatically keep that center of gravity.

Yes, a troubling number of older people are injured or killed in falls. I've advised a few to do some housekeeping: clutter on the floor (it's easier than you think to slip on a mere piece of paper on a carpet, especially glossy paper), furniture jutting out, drawers left open, damaged carpets or floors, electrical cords stretching across the floor all should be eliminated.

A fall took my dad out. At my age I already can tell it might be my undoing, I trip a lot just walking on the sidewalk or even hallways.

I met her back around 1985. Spent a morning playing croquet with her (long weird story for another time). She was a really warm and easy going person but the thing that stands out in my memory is that she would swear like a trooper every time she blew a shot. I kept thing "Wow, I can't believe Lassie's mom just said THAT! She also had lots of funny stories about the stuff that went on off-camera with the dogs.

First and always, Lassies mom. Every Sunday in the late 50's a grilled cheese and a bowl of Campbell's tomato soup in front of the TV. Only show we were allowed to eat in front of was Lassie. TV trays and everything.

Grateful Dead, sang back-up on several classic Sixties hits, and fronted her own bands, has died. She was 78.

Godchaux died Sunday, Nov. 2, at a hospice facility in Nashville after a “lengthy struggle with cancer,” according to a statement shared with Rolling Stone by her representative, Dennis McNally. “She was a sweet and warmly beautiful spirit, and all those who knew her are united in loss. The family requests privacy at this time of grieving,” the statement continued. “In the words of Dead lyricist Robert Hunter, ‘May the four winds blow her safely home.’”

I don't know much about him besides the fact that he was a major player in the steroid scandals and never disclosed all the athletes he supplied. RIP Dick Cheney. Hope this thread doesn't descend in to his politics

One thing you have to give him is he had an amazing career. But count me among those who thought he was 20 years older than what he was. Both because of how he looked and how many positions he held.

A skilled hunter, didn't he shoot somebody in the face when he was vice president? Duck hunting or something.

Started his political career young and just kept going.

If by "amazing: you mean ascended in power and influence to become a 2 term vice president who also had tremendous direct influence during his terms in office, you'd be correct. If by "amazing" you mean he did amazing things that are worthy of commemoration or were of lasting positive influence on future generations, let's just say there might be legit disagreement.

That being said, it was good that he got his transplant and had more years because of it.

I forgot about that. Like on "Mad Men."

I thought I remembered there were suspicions there was alcohol involved, but I seem to also remember there wasn't an investigation beyond the most minimal.

He lived thirteen years after his heart transplant. Longest surviving heart transplant patient is still alive 41 years after her heart transplant.

Dick Cheney cheated death by surviving five heart attacks. He also sustained from his defibrillator's wireless function being turned off at his request out of fear that terrorists might remotely transmit a deadly jolt to his heart.

Despite being a Republican at heart, Cheney stated that he was voting Democrat in the 2024 election. I guess you could say he died the way he lived, with a cheating heart.

When I was a kid any heart transplant made the newspaper, now is is a daily thing. I'd never go thru taking a transplant, but hopefully someone gets my good parts when I go.

I also think that donating organs is the right thing to do since you won't need your organs after death and you can save lives after you are dead. 💡😀

I did sign up as a donor at my last ID renewal, although I'm not sure what salvage value my components might offer.

As a few friends used to joke in school, we were going to donate our lungs to the cancer society, so they could repave their parking lot. (I think I'm one of the last of that group still living.)
May the cards fall in your favor.
