Yep. Specifically the “get a job” speech. As in, find something to do beyond dumping on the forum.
Quote: MDawgI also never heard of a gaggle of supposed casino players who lack the connections to verify that some of the Montreal Canadiens were in fact in Vegas gambling and partying this weekend. I could be even a small time player and still be able to verify that.
It’s not a fact. It’s a story. It may be a fact or may not….but based on the “fact” that the team is in strict lockdown protocols and travel restrictions and is in the middle of a Stanley Cup in Tampa, my guess is your source identified players not from the Montreal Canadians.
Love the “some of the Montreal Canadians” quote. If they were identified as Montreal Canadians…then who?
But...isn't your screen name "Vegas" and if so, why do you lack the ability to check my facts. I mean, seriously, that's weak. I could verify any story any of you presented about most any Vegas casino in about ten minutes.
But what is weak is not the inability to check what is true, which again, I am telling you, it is true, but that anyone would go on and on inveighing against anything where it is so clear that the naysayer has no real expertise or personal knowledge on the subject. The subject being...VEGAS!
Again, it all comes back to the same thing...people pounding their fists on the table and saying, "It can't bayyyy!" without any personal knowledge or experience in the matter.

You can pound your gavel until it breaks…you are stating a story, not a fact. The circumstances I stated about breaking restrictions, inability to travel and the fact that team members would have broken protocol and subjected themselves to missing the Stanley Cup altogether tells me you got bad info. There might have been players in Vegas. They weren’t Montreal Canadians, IMO. In the day and age of social media…no chance they would risk having their name and picture associated with such a reckless decision that would have gotten them banned from playing Game 1 in Tampa.
I live in Vegas. Summerlin, specifically. Just off Town Center Drive. Where do you live here?
Who knows why the Canadiens were here. Maybe they already had the trip planned for Game 7. Maybe they just wanted to celebrate winning the series so far and what better place to celebrate than Vegas! Those types of thoughts are in the realm of speculation, which I'll leave to others.
I am not speculating.

Quote: MDawgYou're the one pounding the gavel saying it's not true!
Correct, I don’t believe your story. Specifically, you haven’t provided the evidence needed to confirm the story.
“Some Montreal Canadians”…..
After Thursday nights win, the team had Friday mandatory meetings to view video on Tampa. On Saturday they had a light skate practice. On Sunday they left for Tampa.
Your source may have something right in that hockey players were in Vegas. They weren’t Montreal Canadians.

Those trips are chartered…as in team charter. There is no previous plan. If they lose game 6, the charter plane is contracted and they ALL fly to Vegas.

Can I observe.... As a Brit who has zero access to Vegas:-
Mdawg has thrown out a challenge to prove him right or wrong. His challenge is somewhat blowing a raspberry at Vegas based members who should have connections around town. Does he have a point?
I see news items about low travel restriction compliance by Canadians. I can conceive of all or part of a team breaking the rules. Should someone get proof that Mdawg is mistaken, then Mdawg could be invited to take Drich's suspension plus any time served. Should someone prove MDawg's report completely correct, then he can receive some apologies.

I don't understand why this is even a line of discussion, but here we are:

That is the Vegas Golden Knights' 6/25 (Friday) return flight from Montreal. If you go to this Twitter page:
https://twitter.com/SportsAviation
You will see that the Montreal Canadiens:
https://twitter.com/SportsAviation/status/1409242823845724165
Would next travel by air on Sunday, June 27th, on a direct flight from Montreal to Tampa.
The Canadiens also had a practice on Sunday morning, prior to traveling to Tampa:
https://www.bostonglobe.com/2021/06/27/sports/canadiens-joel-armia-covid-19-protocol-day-before-stanley-cup-final-vs-lightning/
The only weekend dates that the Montreal Canadiens even would have been in Vegas are June 12 (Saturday) and June 13 (Sunday) in advance of Game 1 of the series, played Monday June 14th, 2021.
The Canadiens were also restricted to certain areas of their hotel while in Las Vegas and had to travel to and from the arena by bus.
The only thing that is possible and would result in the Canadiens gambling in Las Vegas on a weekend would be if a private room was set up for them on either June 12th or June 13th, which is possible, but MDawg seems to have said (unless I misunderstood) that it was this weekend.
Which means that some number of Canadiens players would have to have flown to Las Vegas Friday AFTER winning the game that advanced them to the Stanley Cup Finals Thursday night, did the same isolation procedures AND have a private room for them to gamble set up for them in the allowed areas of the hotel.
More than that, they would be flying there Friday to do whatever just to have to fly back to Montreal at some point Saturday to make morning practice on Sunday and then fly down to Tampa after morning practice.
Of course, the problem with that is that there haven't been any direct flights from any airport in Las Vegas to Montreal since last week Wednesday.
However, if the Canadiens did indeed stay at Wynn, I could believe that a room was set up for them that first weekend in the area of the hotel to which they had access.
That's what I've got. To be clear, I don't care...I'm just trying to contribute, in whatever way I can, to ending this stupid line of conversation faster.

Quote: Mission146Oh, like 87 people are suspended. I guess that also ends the stupid line of discussion pretty quickly.
Well, I read on this thread MDawg's claim that there are only 12 regulars on this forum. So, the large number of suspensions should slow this forum down, right?
Of course, take a look at the regulars on the Easy Math Puzzles thread. Very few of us ever get suspended. And even if we did, ThatDonGuy is perfectly capable of carrying that thread by arguing with himself about the math puzzles.
And BillRyan and DarkOZ are not suspended - they are very entertaining when they argue with each other about Leronlimnab. And Zcore13 argues with anyone who posts that they are suspicious about casino cheating, even if it is a casino in Australia.
And everyone argues with EvenBob -who isn't suspended.
So, I don't think that this forum is dead - and wasn't that the topic of this thread?

I am simply saying hey, this is what happened. YOU are calling me a liar and will not let up.
MDawg, I spent 100 days a year in Las Vegas each year for 30 years. Now I'm not sure what having "SOMETHING to do with Vegas" means, but I've spent a fair amount of time there gambling professionally. And while Budget Suites, Warren Apartments, the old Convention Center Lodge (across from the Stardust) and the occasional months rotating through the El Cortez, Binion's, Fitzgerald's, and the California may not be rarified, it's most certainly Las Vegas at its core. The Convention Center Lodge, for example, was populated by folks from New York and Chicago with things to do for people. Binion's, at one point, was second only to the Mirage in sports betting volume.
Having said that, why you feel it necessary to push the Canadiens story has little to do with KNOWING Las Vegas. You don't have to know anything about hockey (I don't) or Las Vegas to grasp the absurdity of what you were arguing.
The whole "MDawg knows Vegas" schtick is ridiculous. You think you know LV more than Axelwolf or myself? How do you even come up with this stuff?

Quote: OnceDearHe was, in my words, blowing a raspberry at the forum and its vegas members. For which wizard comped for 3 days in the best suite in the slammer. He might reply upon his return.
Evidently, I missed most of the action in this thread.
I get things wrong all the time. I'm wrong 43% of the time regarding things I really care about because I have money on them. I disagreed with my girlfriend about masks versus gloves early on in the pandemic when I flew to LV. I went with CDC and wore gloves; she listened to international experts and argued masks. I was wrong (so was Fauci). She was right.
So either Mission's summary of the Montreal schedule was right or MDawg may have been right. Either way, no big deal. But MDawg decides who's right or wrong about Canadiens in a back room is somehow about "who knows Vegas." It's just silly.
I think he's perturbed because he stepped marginally outside his comfort zone by discussing sports and came up wrong. I'll wait until he's back to argue the point, but how would you like to be on a hoops team with MDawg as point guard or on a football team with MDawg as QB? LOL. Now that would take some intestinal fortitude.
