My father passed away in January after about a 5 year bout with Alzheimer's. It was difficult to see the strong man who raised me (my parents split when I was 2 and he got custody of me) turn into a shell. That said, I have one daughter who is my world. My dad never got a chance to really know me as a father. I spent a fair amount of time today measuring myself against him and hoping that I can raise my daughter in a way that would make him proud.

I have two friends that have gotten "that knock on the door" that many men wonder about. It turned out great for both of them, but they didn't know they were fathers until the kids were into their thirty's.Quote: AxelWolfThe poll should have said...

Had brunch with father and father in law.
Now at amusement park with 2 kids.
Let me tell you dry heat people. Come spend a day at an amusement park when it is 91 and 67% humidity. Wholly hell it is terrible.

We live 2 1/2 hours from Disney, and we never go in the summer for that very reason. It's bearable by late September, but any time after May, no thanks.

My awesome father passed away Oct. '17. He taught me a lot. I showed him to bet the 6 and the 8. Only got him to a casino twice, but he enjoyed himself.
I was fortunate to spend the morning at a "Me and My Guy" Girl Scout camp with my 6 year old daughter, and the rest of the afternoon with her, and my 9 year old son. It is always a great time on this day, just as it is every day.
