assuming for a second that there is a way to predict when a streak will end - disprove or preclude the existence of God?

Who said either one, not me. Who plays
streaks, nobody I know. Just when you
realize it's a streak, it's over.

Just trying to figure out who believes in what. It should seem that system players see a different sort of God than advantage players, but that both see a God in the sense that they want to teach the "evil" casinos a lesson. Not that long ago, a woman told me of a man from Las Vegas whom she was dating. He's a psychiatrist who specializes in gambling addiction. Apparently, gamblers have this internal dialogue about triumphing over evil. It makes sense, given the way the advantage players go on about system players on the one hand, and the casinos on the other. But, there must be also system and advantage players of the type who don't believe in God. More hardened people from the more established and recognized professions?

Every system has to do with trying to connect independent events. But each event occurs with the same probability. Systems are fun to play around with, though, at a distance. I wonder how many atheists believe in stuff like that, along with reincarnation, which can't be proved, either. And at the reason some of them would call themselves agnostic atheists. Does this mean the religious should call themselves agnostic believers? I guess then that an atheist or believer doesn't care about proof of God.

Chinese cites are possible to live in also, on a day to day basis, without being rounded up, imprisoned or beaten by their government.

Perhaps. But only as long as they remain quiet?

Quote:

The Chinese authorities show little tolerance for those who speak out over scandals the government would rather keep hidden. Ordinary people who have tried to help the victims of the country's flawed justice, health and development policies have found themselves beaten, jailed and worse.

The Government Controls Everything. No, Seriously: Everything. "You've probably heard tales about the Orwellian Chinese government arresting journalists, or hiring 2 million people to police the Internet (as though mere humans could ever stuff that particular monster back in the box). Then there's the whole birth control issue."

White People Are Fashion Accessories. "Some large Chinese companies hire white guys to stand around the office and look successful when a prospective client visits, because nothing shows hedonistic excess like being able to afford a pet white dude."

Inefficiency Permeates Every Aspect of Daily Life. "I have never spent less than an hour in a Chinese bank. One time, just changing a 20-pound note took nearly two hours and involved scans of my passport, six forms, a dispensation from my childhood priest, and three different people with stamps to make it proper."

The Counterfeit Problem Runs Way Deeper Than You Think. "What you're not prepared for is the counterfeit meat. Take this highly publicized case from last year involving rat, fox, and mink being passed off as mutton. It wasn't exactly a freak occurrence. The whole Chinese fake-steak situation has gotten so bad that I now refuse to eat meat unless it's from a place that hangs the animal's carcass outside for me to thoroughly inspect and deem worthy of being devoured."

Does it? Or are you just fishing..

I think that this is a question for you about your own system. Fishing would be a good term, given how little you speak of it in definitive terms except for waiting for a streak to end.

You'll have to present and prove it out yourself to others, like anyone else with a claim in public. Proofs in isolation tend to be incomplete, error-ridden and fanciful when relatively few others make the same claim, and none with proof.

Let's suppose such a system exists. Many players would have discovered it inadvertently, a long time ago. Specifically, if you haven't lost or won a lot of money with it because you hate going to casinos, then it can not be proved out that way, either. In practice, you could still win with a bad system, and lose with a good one, especially when you don't play a lot. You might be even ejected from your casino before you could win enough to statistically prove it out.

It can't be very satisfying when one has his or her own tailored gambling or other belief system that can't be vigorously proved out. In the end, you might have to settle for the same as the rest of us, but then it's too late.

Never stole a hood ornament, but I did find an nameplate from a Toyota Corona in a parking lot in the mid 80's.

It was the script "Corona" you can see on the right side of the trunk.

Anyways, I took the chain off a cheap medallion I had (interestingly enough, the medallion was swag from Caesars Tahoe!) and looped one end through the "C" and the other through the last "o." And voila -- I had my own nameplate necklace!

I was in junior high at the time and, for laughs, decided to wear it to school one day. A few kids thought it was cool, some thought it was ridiculous. Most asked, "What's a Corona?"

Alas, that was the last time I would wear it... when I got home, my big sister, who was not at all into the hip-hop culture, snatched it off my neck and snapped it in two! I'm not sure if I will ever forgive her! ;)

As of 9:42 PM PST, July 1, EB is at 24,998. He has been the #1 poster for as long as I can remember. He also has 23048 posts at Diversity Tomorrow.

I have said this before, but I openly welcome all forum members to dispense of the usual debate and banter for any post number evenly divisible by 5000 and instead talk about yourself. Don't be shy. This is your moment to shine. Let us know something about the real EB. I know you like to make your point in the first few sentences, but don't be shy about making a long-winded post for once. In case you don't make it to 30,000 -- tell us something you'd like to be remembered for.

I've read a lot of his posts and especially loved the countless one liners, they really excel.

Just wondering why 46% of the people in the poll say he is done and to go away? Isn't that strange for a number member with so many posts?
