So to walk away with 875,000 francs what are some possible values of the original cheque and of her toke?

I say her original chip was 20 francs which turns into 720 after the first hit.

Letting this ride turns into 25,200 francs and supervisor tokes 200 francs.

Letting this last 25,000 ride wins 875,000 for a total ending BR of 900,000.

I presume the writers merely made an error when they said 875,000 as they were referring to her win on that spin rather than her total take home. :-p

Of course was this the old franc or the new one, not sure when it was revalued. I think it was 100 old francs to 1 new franc.

In 1956 money, $875,000 francs was
$2500 USD. That's $22,000 in today's
money.

So $2500 was a windfall in 1956.

It would have been a lot of money to
an average person. To Ricky Ricardo,
who owned a successful nightclub
in NYC, $2500 would not be a huge
amount. They lived way beneath their
means on the show. It go more
believable when they moved to a
country estate in the last few years
of the show.
