First of all, please let me know if there's somewhere else I should be asking this question - I know this is a long thread and that you don't want new members contributing to the flame wars. PLEASE don't anyone reply to this post with attacks or stories about criminal records or blatant promotion - I just have a simple question about using the card for a hotel discount...

I'm thinking of signing up for a basic level Rover card primarily to take advantage of the Tuscany hotel room deal ($35/weeknight $75/weekend night, no resort fee). Can anyone who has the card let me know what limitations there are on how many nights I can use the discount for? Also, I understand that there are some blackout dates but I don't know specifically what they are - if you have that info as well it would help. I'm going to be in Vegas for a month starting in mid-June - I don't expect to be able to use the Tuscany discount for that whole time, but if I could get 2 weeks that would be great!

Thank you for any info ... and again, please let me know if I should post this question somewhere else.

-huge

Why not EMAIL them directly? You obviously read that thread they seem to have good CS. I realize they need a little boost since card because the good offer(s) have lost 75% of its value.

Rover did everything properly IMO. Unfortunately you have to worry about the casino NOT honoring their deal. I got many reports of the TROPICANA NOT honoring free play as promised.

I wish them success but they are going to need better offers IMO.

Thanks for the reply Axel, and thanks for your straightforward contribution to this thread - the fact that you were supportive initially but are now expressing reservations after losing the benefit that was most important to you makes me inclined to believe what you are writing to be an honest reaction to the current situation and not an agenda-based campaign. I was disappointed too that the Trop benefit went away even though I'm not sure whether I ever could have got much benefit from it.

My main interest is to get the Tuscany room discount for a relatively long stay (I'm a poker player and will be in Vegas for the WSOP) but I am always happy to gain a few bucks in EV by using match plays or other promos if they're not *too* time-consuming.

If anyone has experience with the Tuscany room discount, let me know. I will indeed email Rover CS, but experience from impartial card users like yourself seems like a helpful measure.

I have the lowest level of the Rover Deals Card. I also got it because I liked the idea of having Tuscany as a back-up plan at $ 35 a night (Sun-Thurs) with no Resort Fee, in case I couldn't get comp rooms from CZR. I have stayed at Tuscany before and I think it is a pretty good property WITHOUT the Vegas Strip rates.

SO, if I recall correctly, I could get 3 nights at that $ 35 rate but only once every 30 days.

Thanks for the reply JohnnyQ! Is there any chance you (or anyone else with a basic or gold card) could log in and see what you could book at the Tuscany in late June? I have managed to get some info from CS - they said that the Tuscany deal is NOT subject to any time limit and that there have been people who have booked more than a week, but that there ARE blackout dates, and that June 19-21 weekend (EDC) is blacked out. They can't confirm immediately if the weekends on either side of that are possible though (they're requesting that info from the Tuscany but it might take a few days). I would be happy if I could get June 10-19 or possibly June 21-30.

Thanks again - even if you can't or don't check on availability, I still appreciate you taking the time to reply to my post. Happy I found this forum...

UPDATE ON VEGAS ROVER>>>>>from John Moura

Vegas Rover is Closing July 31, 2015

"A little over 1 year ago, we set out to change the Vegas travel experience forever. It has been a journey that will unfortunately end before fruition. On Friday, July 31st of 2015, Vegas Rover Ltd will cease all operations. As of today, July 1st, we are no longer accepting new member registrations.

I unfortunately took ill during late May and it has proved to be incredibility debilitating on the mind and body. Unfortunately, I am still waiting on a diagnosis from neurologists and my doctors... which has left me unable to perform my daily Vegas Rover duties or attend meetings. A task that would normally take me 15 minutes, can sometimes take upwards of 1 hour to accomplish; it is debilitating and it is frustrating. As a result of my illness I am shutting down Vegas Rover.

This decision was not made without great consideration and internal debate. It comes on-top of a large personal cash infusion I had put into the business to help it grow, market and develop. I know this decision will be upsetting for many, as many people have created close friendships with other Vegas Rover members and its staff, past and present.

Over the coming days, we will post a printable list of the deals that are still available and how to redeem them. Some deals, such as our deal with Hertz, do not have an expiration and may continue to work after we cease operations. Support will not be available after July 31st 2015 and support during the month of July will be limited.

I appreciate your understanding and wish you all the best,

— John Moura - CEO Vegas Rover Ltd"

It was a "get it while it lasted" kind of deal. I think most people here understood that. Ouch if you spent $500. Refunds?

It's terrible when somebody has an illness, especially something like this.

It's a shame anytime Las Vegas loses competition. I think even the competitors would agree the card system is a far better idea than a coupon book, it solved a few problems LVA has faced over the years.

I personally think the competitors have to pull with the casinos. It's probably very hard to complete with them. Hopefully someone will step up.

Ugh! I really wanted this to succeed. I always felt there was more drama behind the scenes that I didn't want to know about or be a part of. Though I miss the really great group of people when they decided to shut down their Facebook page. That was a bit of a petulant act and arm twist to try to get everyone to utilize their on-site forums. I never did get to use any of the deals that were offered in the short time they were afloat.

Just like I said all along. I don't believe the illness thing for 1 minute.
As for putting his own money into Rover, what happened to the 25 THOUSAND dollars they raised plus membership fees lol.

Be good to see their accounts since they have been running.
Im guessing most of it was spent on steaks and drinks. Lets face it they used to always post pics of what they were eating or how they were in the VIP area.

Will they be refunding any members, Hell no.

There was a big campaign against them because they threatened the income of people with blogs, Facebook, coupons etc etc. NONE of them care about the community only profits.

You seen all the sock puppets that rushed to the site after they posted attacking them. You could see the hate.

It was obvious there was bad blood and shenanigans going on. It was always use at your own risk. In the end many people profited using the VR card.

I felt It was over once they lost the Tropicana.

Au contraire, I did some very minor campaigning against them because I cared about the community. They didn't threaten any of my income, because there's no way in hell I would fork over any money to Brad Baker or anything he's associated with. I have no profits or anything along those lines that were threatened by Vegas Rover, and the only reason I had any ill-will against the company was because of its co-owner, Brad Baker.

I applaud the idea of a company trying to add more competition to the Vegas coupon market, since the ultimate winners would be us players. However, when the co-owner of the company is an angry little person who repeatedly censored anyone asking simple questions about the offers they supposedly had, it's not a company I can support.

No idea if the illness thing is legitimate or not, but I had no ill-will towards the company after Brad left.

Well said.
I also was against Brad being involved with a money making scheme. I knew his past and his intentions as I spoke to him several times a day.
He only started Rover as he realised he could use numbers (members) to make him money from pay per click adverts.

Sadly he made people feel like friends of his and they spent their hard earned cash to launch the rover brand.
Rovers site says they raised over $30,000 in donations plus all the membership cards they have sold. Some people bought the $400 membership so we are talking a lot of $$$$

Deals were promised and never fulfilled and the truth was certainly hidden.
Remember when Ellis Island pulled out? It certainly was not because they were swamped with calls and emails trashing rover as they told everyone.

These 2 guys have made easily 20k a piece from this. All the meals, VIP areas, and extreme rides were paid for by their customers.

One more thing, Brad left Rover a few months back as he had a wonderful job offer. Must be around that time John got ill.

I guess if it was me and the money dried up I would be sick to.

There are plenty of companies that go out of business. Take circuit city for instance what if you needed to use a gift card after they went out of business or even better yet what if you bought a gift card to use for an apple computer and then they stopped carrying Apple. It's no different this happens every single day in business. How bought it you bought a house and then the development was never completed. This is life, these people started a business and I actually feel bad that it did. It work out for them. What is the need for all the bashing.

It looked to be a slightly worse deal than a typical coupon book.

Coupon books tend to have more clear terms and conditions, and expiration dates, printed on each one, and because of that tend to get honored even if the company that printed the books went out of business. Coupons can still get cancelled or not honored before their expiration date, but I still think they are more clear.

All the personal BS I could care a less about. Personally i didn't like when either camp sent over BS sock-puppets. Sham on you both.

I find it hard to believe that VR wasn't legitimately trying to make this work.. I cant believe they were just trying to scam people. There is obviously money in this if done right. Why wouldn't they want it to succeed?

Everyone I know had a great experience with Rover. If there was a problem and you sent them an email, they got back to you immediately. They contacted the casino and did everything they could to solve the problem. I know one occasion the casino tried to back out with a solid NO. After an email to VR, they got positive results.

If the casino didn't honor the deal, Rover send you back your money( I have no clue about the $400 memberships, only an idiot would get that one anyways). A few casinos changed or stopped the offers, but that wasn't VRs fault.

I'm surprised they got as many deals as they did and it lasted as long as it did. There are plenty of very happy people. There is never a guarantee any business will succeed. There is a good chance anyone trying to do what they were doing will fail. So Predicting they would fail wasn't that hard hard.

I only discovered it in the last couple of months and bought it. After running numbers I bought the cheapest one and used it at the Tuscany and The D, even knowing that the deals said they expired there very soon. I got my money's worth out of it so I'm pleased, even if they shut down. I only wish I had known about it longer ago. Also I found that, strangely, both players clubs knew what it was and what the deals were as soon as I produced it. Sometimes I can bust out an ACG coupon at places and they look at me like I'm crazy or have to read the fine print several times.

Yep. I got an inexpensive membership to have low rates at the TUSCANY, as a BACK-UP plan. I never needed to use it, having found better deals elsewhere. So my inexpensive membership is kindof like an insurance policy.

One reason, I said all along they were after peoples money and was labelled a troll or stalker.
If the card and offers were as good as they said and the number of people buying the cards were as high as they said then why did it fail?

They spent all the money raised on a jolly up in Vegas for the 2 of them and when it ran out they just closed down and disappeared.
Unless of course you know differently.

Ya know, I think you've made your point and are now dancing on their graves. I met Brad, looked at what they were doing. Their intent was honest, and they didn't advertise anything they didn't deliver, though some of the properties let them down on some of the details. The value they promised was there if you used the offers, and yeah, it was a business that tried to make money and ultimately went down. Caca happens.

So enough already.

I'm certain some people benefited from the programme but I'm more certain that the majority got ripped off and ended up out of pocket.
Take a look back at the whole thread and see how defensive they were, how they blamed everyone else for whatever went wrong.

If it were true that they had 1000s of members where are all the good reviews (or bad)

Also lets not forget that I worked with BB before rover or MVFD existed and I fell out with him over the way he wanted to do things and his desire to make money from people looking to save a few bucks.

It just smacks of a pyramid type scheme where only the people at the top stand to benefit long term.

They started rover with zero of their own money, raised over 30k then spent it living the life of riley in vegas. Once that money ran out they just walked away from it.

.

There is no I told you so moment on this forum regarding VR. We knew some of the background and history about them. I don't think anyone notable here invested in the company or vouched for the people running the company. Most people realized eventually they would fail. While they thought a 90's card idea was a great breakthrough idea, I think they missed the mark and should have went for a phone app.

Members were skeptical from the beginning but everything worked on their side. They actually responded all questions via email and contacted casinos on your behalf if there was a problem. Trop became a hassles near the end however it was worth the extra time. And that wasn't even on VR.

Most of us VR members got FREE cards and successfully used them. A few people paid like $10 and were offered a refund even after using many of the offers.

If people were dumb enough to invest in the company they need to rethink their investment strategy.

30K is all? That's a ccheap lesson for each individual, they should count their blessings and lesson learned.

Thank you bbb but I don't think baza is going to stop/ not sure but would love it if this thread was just locked since there is zero new info that could ever be added / personally gained value of well over 300 per card and I'm sure others did as well

My spouse and I paid $10 each and got good value out of the card. It certainly met our expectations for what was promised. We never posted any types of reviews anywhere. I have no idea how you can compare their business model to a pyramid scheme. They were essentially ACG and LVA without a printed book.

They tried working with LVA but AC saw through them and needless to say BB fell out with him.
I spoke with AC and he confirmed this straight from the horses mouth.
Rover then accused him of scuppering their deals and then went on to blame others for flooding Ellis Island with hundreds of calls.

Its funny though, when I went to Vegas in September last year there were no FBI waiting to arrest me at the airport nor was I detained by any of the casino security while out there.

I'm not sure why you think Anthony Curtis' desire to not work with them somehow casts a negative light on their business. The same Anthony Curtis who has said that people who buy his coupon book only for the gambling coupons aren't the kind of customers he wants.
