What's the biggest chip you've ever been paid or colored up to?

My last trip to Las Vegas, I hit a royal flush on Pai Gow at the Rio. I won $1500 on my $10 fortune, and $500 on my $1 progressive. Four purples. After playing a while longer, I pushed forward my chips to color up. She handed me back my purples, and I told her that I wanted yellows for them. She, along with the floor person, warned me against coloring up to yellow because I might face trouble trying to cash them out due to a recent robbery. I said as long as the floor person knew I won the chips, I'd take my chances, and was given two yellows. After taking a snapshot, I took them directly to the cage to cash out, and got no grief whatsoever (though the cashier did ask to see my rewards card).

It was the only time I've held anything bigger than a purple. My goal for my next trip is to make it to a flag.

So what's your record? Brag away.

I've had multiple (well, two) of the brown $5k chips. I didn't have to ask for them; it's just what they gave me when I colored up. If you are cashing out $10k+ they are not going to color you up to a handful of yellows.

Unfortunately I've never cashed out for more than $15k from a table game so I've not had any reason to be given larger chips (I almost always play on credit, so I'm only ever taking my profit, if any, from the table)

Several chocolates ($5,000) is the largest I've ever colored up or taken to a cage. Largest amount ever paid on a single bet was $2,550 (blackjack).

Yellow ($1,000 denom chips), although, I generally ask for purples when coloring up. Less of a hassle if I cash 'em out or break 'em down when I enter a game.

Dealer tried to give me a chocolate ($5K) one time. Boss was like "trust me you don't want that you won't be a..." and I'm like "Yeah I know, I want purples."

Just pumpkins for me($1000). Mostly I play pai gow poker at Borgata, they dont even keep anything bigger than a pumpkin at any of the pai gow poker tables unless someone comes in with a buy in for about 40k or so and plays several thousand a hand, then they bring in some $5000s.

Bananas. It's a reasonable enough amount buying in for several hundred to be up to $1000 cashing out. Although $5000 is where it starts to get into high roller territory.....

I've seen dark orange chips for $25K in play at Caesars', 20 years ago. 4 guys on a maxi-bacc/full bacc/whatever it's called, betting 10 each, every hand. They had their own buffet and bar behind them and a guard in front of the alcove, which was roped off but in full view of the walking area. He let us watch for about 5 minutes (and was the one who told us what the chips were worth) before he invited us to move along.

The only things I've seen larger than that were square plaques, white, for 100K, but did not see them in play.

Purple. Personally I would rather walk away black because I would hate losing a single chip worth so much money. I have to think the casino thinks they can get people to bet it all having just a few chips. I don't know how smart it is even if it worked because casinos win by having people grind then gamble on one shot.

$5000+ isn't very standardized color-wise. Brown, grey and white are probably most popular.

Nope. Best I've done was a RF at PaiGow, Mirage, this April, for 1500. The month before that, first RF, for 750, Hard Rock. After 22 years of playing the game. I've dealt RF's to other players 8 times while banking, though.

I would LOVE (of course) to see a 5 figure payoff; from your lips to the card god's ears.

I gave them a total of 3 hours on that game, betting correct strategy at $5 ante, just to give the game a chance. I'm down $1800 lifetime, and the dealer at Margaritaville said he'd never seen such a crap run in his life. I've never had more than 3OAK on the game. Guess I don't have the tolerance for extreme volatility I thought I did.

About 13 years ago, my wife hit a straight flush on Let It Ride. She won close to $14K. They gave her a couple browns ($5K), some orange ($1K), some purple ($500), etc.

Although she could easily handle it, I helped her walk it to the cage.

We got a check for $12K, and the rest in cash - and then hit the floor. Woo hoo!

playing in AC - most from a single table session - 20 gray.
same trip - ended up leaving after 4 days with the equivalent of 39 gray.

and yes - I was shaking like an epileptic when I was heading back to the room after the single best session of my life. prior historical trip max hauls were around 6 gray.

Same with me - in fact, it happened on my last trip about three months ago. I'll bet a green on occasion (usually 5x odds in Craps on a $5 pass, or $30 a hand if I can't find a blackjack table under $25), but never anything higher.

Unfortunately I didn't hold it for too long, didn't even try to take a picture of it.
At that time all I wanted was running to the cage and cash it.

I've been the queen of the boat twice, but never hit one big hit like you've talked about. They overcomped me outrageously on the Epic crossing last year because I was bringing so much business to the table, it was like I worked for them. I vaguely remember the story. I think you said that you had just gotten divorced, and you were in the mood to gamble significantly bigger than you usually do. And you just couldn't lose. Also I think that you were tipping really well, or giving the dealers gifts, or something.

I have tons of photos of chips from cashing out. But I've brought over $20,000 to the table at a time without betting it. So showing chips means nothing (at least for me).

But here's proof that I gambled at least one time.

The biggest chip I've held is a $5,000 chip at the Wynn. But the most chips I've carried in a rack was over $20,000 worth of purple at the Silverton.

This is the wad of cash I got from the cage at the Wynn after cashing out a $5,000 chip. I didn't take a photo because I was too busy talking to Chad in the pit.

And here's some chips from cashing out at Mandalay Bay.

To be perfectly honest, it's pretty darn rare that I have more than $1,000 on the felt at a time. But I've got it up there many times. It's just that I play a lot, so it's more often that I don't and just come in and out with a couple hundred.

Interesting photo. It looks as if Wynn stuck with the Paulson chips up through the $500 denomination but might have changed to another vendor for the $1,000 chip. The shape of the black edge inserts on the yellow chip looks just like the edge inserts that Gemaco uses on their chips, but the rest of the chip doesn't look like a Gemaco chip. I don't think I have ever seen a Gemaco chip with text molded into the perimeter, but I've also never seen edge inserts of that shape from another manufacturer. I'd like to see one of those up close enough to examine it.

Held I don't know maybe a purple but for sure a stack of black. But this post reminded me of the first time in Vegas for me. I was in the Flamingo in 1994 and there was an Asian guy playing roulette with white plaques surrounded by purples and he hit his #, I saw a stack of black plaques go his way not sure what is was worth.

At that time my high limit was a red. I almost asked to get into his game. AHHH to be 21 again.

I have seen plaques played many times at Crown Casino in Melbourne. Smallest is $25k with $100k, $500k and $1m being the highest I've seen. They most likely have higher than $1m but I haven't see one. They sit in an extra compartment off to the side of the main rack. Kind of like a bucket with a plastic lid over it.

The most I've ever actually seen bet was a guy on baccarrat betting up to $500k per hand. Normal bet was probably $200k but he went up to $500k a few times while I was watching. The last time I was there I saw someone betting up to $300k with an additional up to $50k on each of a player and banker perfect pairs side bet. So up to $400k total.

A few days ago at the Wynn, I saw a guy at the Baccarat table (super old dude) with a half million dollars in $25,000 chips just stroking that stack while he played $10,000 to $40,000 per hand in white chips ($5,000 each).

I believe that $1,000 and up are still Paulson but with RFID. I know that's the case across the street at the Venetian/Palazzo. Generally you know when they do that because they require a player card in order to obtain one of those chips. Both the Wynn and Palazzo require a card to give out the yellow.

RFID Paulson's are more expensive, but they seem identical to the player (at least to this player who hasn't picked over them too much).

When I had the $5,000 chip at Wynn, it was white and DIRTY!! LOL.

A few years ago, I was sitting at a dead poker table waiting for a game to start, and something hit me in the arm. I look and see it's a $5,000 chip. Someone was trying to toss it to his friend at the table next to me. Unbelievable. I picked up the chip and handed it back to him.
