So depending on who is really coming I'll make suggestions for meet up, activities, restaurants, etc.....
On the other hand, if you can make Varmenti show up I am in.

I'm sure it wasn't intentional. If not for the NHL pool, I'd not have known you were local, either.
I didn't want to start off demanding things only to not be able to make it anyways =p Carry on, put me as maybe, and we'll see what we see =)

lol I know. I am a relative newbie on this site. At least posting wise, I was on here for years but I have a max of 2 active forums so when 2+2 dropped you all were lucky enough to get me.
Although I wasn't kidding about Varmenti.

So sorry! I did not know you were local! Your first drink is on me! Where do you live?

sweet, I will order a Mongolian mother f&*$er. My favorite drink, it is always a chore to actually get a bartender to make it.

That drink is trouble! Doesn't even taste like alcohol - like a long island but with punch and not coke/sour. My favorite pizza place in Saint Paul used to make them for anyone who let it be bartenders choice (same ingredients, different name - that's a Jonestown Koolaid in MN).

The drink contains ten different liquors with only a dash of each. A dash is described as 1/32 of an ounce. That would probably send a teetotaler like me for a loop. Are the bartenders always accurate with a drink like that?
There is an older guy at one of my rotations who orders Sex on the Beach. He's a real perv and I swear he just likes saying it to the waitresses. They hate it because of the creepy way that he does it.

in my experience, bartenders don't know what a dash is. Generally they need their largest glass and you get way more than a dash. I would say closer to an ounce of each is generally what I get. Whenever I see a bartender make it in a small glass or actually only give a dash I won't order it again.
Quick story about this drink. When I had my small bachelor party we went to a local dive bar. I went up to the bartender and asked her to look up the drink in her book and make it for the 6 of us. This was a busy Friday night around midnight so she said she couldn't. About 10 minutes later the bar manager came up to our table and apologized that she wouldn't make the drink. I guess they were talking after I walked away. We were already there for about 3 hours and were drinking a lot. Our tab at this point was well over $250. The bar manager said that she would like to attempt to make the drink for us and mine was free. As she was pouring the drinks I went up to the bar and threw a $20 down as a tip and asked her to pour a little heavy. Well she brought the 6 drinks over but 1 person was a DD and another person declined because they were already too hammered. Well lets just say I didn't let any of the drinks go to waste. If I can find the picture of our receipt I will put it up, it was ridiculous. The best part was by 3 am we had the bartenders sitting with us and it was a great night. Our bill was almost $500 but they gave us a 50% discount since we were the life of the party. We ended up tipping nearly $200 to the 3 girls and manager working that night.
sigh. I go from a great night that I posted above to married, 1 newborn, and 1 infant. Growing up sucks.
Quote: Mission146Is this going to be on a Sunday? Any other day during the Summer months and, unfortunately, my presence is highly doubtful, but please don't allow that to affect scheduling if a different day is better for most others.
It matters not to me, and Doc and Mrs. Doc said they are very flexible, and BBB I think is flexible too. (She is self suspended for a few days, so we will hear soon). Sunday should be fine. I will be off all weekend, and available to meet anyone who wants either or both of those days.

If you can convince your wife that this is a crucial meeting chock full of business opportunities, I will buy you a Monglian mother f&*$er. I've made the drive from Buffalo to Pittsburgh a dozen times (Son of SOOPOO went to Carnegie Mellon). Its an easy 3.5 hours......Tell her you are going out for milk and just show up a little late....

haha but that is the excuse I was going to use tonight to run to the casino. We have a 2 week old right now so everything is a little hectic. As the end of May rolls around it may change. It really isn't that I am not allowed to go but she wants to go and would be mad if I went without her. The newborn will be about 6 weeks old by then so maybe we can get away for a weekend but only time will tell.
Quote: boymimboSeneca Niagara or Fallsview is okay with me. I'll likely walk over the border to get to Seneca. My dates are pretty flexible on most weekends. i'd think Face is a essential member, so I'd like to see his restrictions.
I 'think' BBB and the Doc's are flexible, as am I, so as it gets closer I'll see what face has to say.
Well, Saturdays are race days, so any Saturday will be no good for me. Also, while Seneca Niagara is all revamped and new, I can't game there on account of my employment. If 1nickel is right and not everyone has a passport, I'd not want to force things over the border on account of me, especially when I can't even confirm at this point.
Just make your plans based on the needs of the group, and I'll do what I can to make it.
Quote: onenickelmiracleLets assume more Canadians have passports than Americans and it would be smarter to stay in New York.
My guesses:
(1) More Americans than Canadians have passports. (Just a guess, but influenced by the total numbers of Americans and Canadians.)
(2) More American members (of this forum) than Canadian members have passports. (Similar influencing factor on the guess.)
What's really relevant is the passport status of forum members who would otherwise attend a get-together in the Niagara Falls area. My wife and I will definitely cross the border some even number of times ≥2. (No, we will not be taking the Wallenda route.)

No one who has shown an interest has mentioned not having a passport. I am now leaning towards Sunday at noon on the Canadian side. As stated earlier, I will be happy to meet up with any attendees on Saturday as well.

Me. You need a passport to go to Canada now?
Quote: Mission146Me. You need a passport to go to Canada now?
Only if you want to come back.
Off topic question regarding passports:
My current passport was issued in 2005 and expires in 2015. I'm fairly sure I got my first passport in 1980. I have never let a passport expire, and I highly doubt that I have renewed one more than a year in advance. Apparently, one of my passports was either good only for 5 years or was good for 15 years. (This was all well after that cut-off age of 16.) Does anyone know when the life of a U.S. passport was changed and in which direction?

It's a seriously easy swim, 1/8th mile maybe? Worst case, I can always grab my boat and smuggle you back. No minutemen on the Niagara River ;)

Someone above has mentioned that for Canada you can get a passport card. Someone also mentioned how good it is for ID. If you can't get one and are coming we can do meeting on US side, just Face wouldn't be able to partake in gaming. I can surely meet up with BBB, the Docs, and our locals, and any others, on the Canadian side on Saturday. I would recommend you getting the passport card, though. The Canadian side of the falls is really a great tourist attraction, much nicer views than from the American side.
I am getting my private pilot's license so more like fly!Quote: SOOPOOAnd teddy can limo it here with Mission... .
Quote: teddysI am getting my private pilot's license so more like fly!
well in that case Mission can not use the passport card. That is only for entering by vehicle and boat.
Not really my recommendation, though.

Crap! Now, I have to get one of those, too!?

I'll call the casino, ask them if they'll match that in Free Play for me coming over there.

Water is water, it's water, falling off something high, I've seen pictures. In any event, everyone seems to want to do it in Canada, so let me check into this whole Birth Certificate thing. Are the drinks free there?

Canada is basically like California except with way worse weather, less money, and easier access to hockey.
Quote: soxfanZeus willing, the evenbob-spike and that varmenti cat will both make the scene, hey hey.

Also Canada won't let you in if you have been convicted of some crimes. Don't know which but DUIs I think have to be over five years past. Like has been said, it's really not about what Canada wants but what we want so they mimic our policies.

I've never been, and don't want to be, to California. The California casino is okay, though.

The playoffs will still be going on... they are just starting the 2nd round now. The cup finals should happen the first couple of weeks of June.
I'm pretty sure that the right to watch hockey is somewhere in the Canadian constitution.

You really are trying to get kicked out of PA, aren't you? ;) Season runs deep into June, provided there's no Finals sweep
