Post counts do not tell all, but they indeed allude to not only dedication to this place, but also experience. Such experience is not something that can be bought, and it is to be respected.
Congrats, EvenBob!
This is meant in general, and not specifically about Bob.

Any specific plans for the content of #15,000 ?
Quote: BuzzardFACE has just confirmed what I suspected. Bob has 2 accounts. His other account name is Ahigh.
EB is doing slow-motion roulette videos?

Rumor has it that he will be releasing his comprehensive 10 point plan for ridding the gambling world of chumps.
Quote: kewljOk, EvenBob, what's the deal? In 3 days you have climbed from 14,996 to 14,999. That's not how you got to this point. lol Is this a little 'tease' on your part? Building the suspense? Or for the first time in forever, you are at a loss for words?
The last time he had an extended absence was after the second election of Obama. He never manned up and apologized to all those who he scoffed at for thinking Obama would win re-election. I think after the quote of his surfaced from earlier telling the Wiz to ban anyone he wishes, and Bob's recent posts saying how bad the forum is because the Wiz can ban anyone he wishes, well...... don't expect an apology anytime soon......I'm guessing he will be back with a flourish soon.... Unless he took the Wiz's advice and 'isn't letting the door hit him in the rear'.......
I'm enjoying the show and if I wasn't I wouldn't let the door hit me on the way out.

I'll take "never posts again" for 10, assuming he doesn't change to a different name or get someone to reset his post count. He's been on every day since his last post, but has chosen not to comment.

Those odds are awful.
Give me a max bet on the Over 7.5 characters.
I'll also join BBB and throw 50 bucks on he never posts again, although the odds should be more like +1750 not +175
I'll also bet that he goes from 15000 to 15010 way way faster than he went from 14990 to 15000. I think this current pause is just for dramatic effect

Well, I didn't think it was particularly insulting, just funny, so I left it - you're the one finding it insulting, I think. No, the old rules have not returned. In fact, posting the same thing for emphasis 3 times in a row is considered spamming. But I took pity on you and deleted the two duplicates instead. Have a nice day. :)

The quantity of your posts that are solely about rules, mods, insult clarification, etc far outnumbers those of every other forum member COMBINED (not counting mods of course, since it's their job). You lead the forum in that category as well as # of posts to which people responded by instantly nuking themselves.
And I bet 2nd place isn't close in either case.

I have never insulted EvenBob , or anyone for that matter, personally. We are told to keep the critique to the persons writings, not the person. And in this case I was critiquing what Bob says, and even that was in jest. I actually enjoy most of his posts.
I bet you were a great hall monitor in junior high
Quote: soxfanThe evenbob-spike is a seriously entertaining cat. Though I do wish he'd talk more about his 72% strike rate betting roulettes even chances like he did back on the gambling glen, hey hey.
He probably feels that the average member around here is not dumb enough to fall for 72%. He prefers to post stuff that, while obviously not true, is close enough to believable to rustle up a response. Trolling is a fine art; you can't just post any random nonsense and expect it to work. If you look far enough back in his posting history here, you will see that he tested the waters a bit first by claiming that he had a friend who always made money by playing roulette, and he was unsure whether he should believe it.

Its funny to put out a betting line on a valued members death?
BBB, I think your stance on issues such as these may be overtaking your common sense
someone once used that exact line on me, and when it was, I took pity on her and didnt take it as an insult.....I thought it was as funny as putting out a line on a mans death
if its "funny" to put out a line on a members death....it must be hilarious to put out that same line on their parents or children......since they arent members themselves
It can be. This is a gambling forum. Many folks resort to humor to deal with uncomfortable topics (like death). A death bet can be a funny topic (examples available upon request). One might say it isn't in this case, however without further info there is no reason to assume such a topic is taboo.Quote: LarrySIts funny to put out a betting line on a valued members death?

I disagree, the idea that gamblers are gruff, classless people who make fun of other peoples death....at least in their abscence is a steriotype
Just my opinion.
It may be someones opinion to think its ok to make a line on the death of your child or your mother. I cant stop them if they think its funny...and others agree.
If all they have to do is say....."hey I am gambler..its all cool",,,,,,,Then I have no comment....who can argue with that.
I don't think being gamblers is an excuse. it only explains the choice for betting instead of some other joke. Do you think death can't be funny? There are plenty of counter examples (see also Arrested Development, South Park, the Simpsons, Family Guy and Seinfeld). Or is the problem that only death bet jokes aren't funny? Cause I think that isn't true either.Quote: LarrySI disagree, the idea that gamblers are gruff, classless people who make fun of other peoples death....at least in their abscence is a steriotype

EB was very sick on friday. I spoke with him via pm and gave him some advice that he asked for. I posted here that he was ill. And in the light of that it seems people like you seems to think that mocking his death was a funny joke.
And for that reason one should never make fun of someones death, you may learn after the big joke that something may have gone terribly wrong in that persons life.
No one said.."hey i didnt realize" or "i hope he is ok"......instead the hits just kept coming.
very disrespectful
I stand by my opinion.
Its not universal I know...its funny....I know.

LarryS,
I'm trying to hang in there with you, I really am, but between the spamming I removed and the days of trolling this and other threads trying to make something out of nothing, and now putting personal information from a PM in public mode, yer killin' me, man. EB has been on this forum every day since he last posted; I've looked. He has chosen not to post, including his health concerns, if any. He has posted every day on Diversity Tomorrow, multiple times, in that time frame; he has not discussed his health there, either. He chose to share that with you privately; please respect that. Please, take it down a notch.
Quote: LarrySEB was very sick on friday. I spoke with him via pm and gave him some advice that he asked for. I posted here that he was ill. And in the light of that it seems people like you seems to think that mocking his death was a funny joke.
There is not nearly enough to go on to interpret your post as "he is on death's door and therefore jokes about it are in bad taste." You didn't give a time of your communication, what what pretty sick means, or his preferences about us discussing his 15000th post and his health heading into it. In addition, You were flippant about his death in your post! If you wanted your message to be understood, you should probably try to make it more clear what you mean. I can understand if you were trying to get your message across without violating PM rules, but there was nowhere near enough in your attempt to get that across.Quote: LarryS, the post you mentionhe was pretty sick the last time I communicated with him.....so yeah maybe he is dead and you can have a good laugh.
Furthermore, the first one post which mentioned his death was:
Which was then immediately followed by your vague message. How many times was death mentioned again before you mentioned it again: NONE. Seriously, there are 5 posts, none of them mention health or death. People joked about when he would post and the concept of a watched pot never boiling in terms of our desire for him to roll over the odometer, but his health was not mentioned again until you brought it up in this post:Quote: GWAEor he dies, or maybe he did already?
+3500 if he is already dead
If you had said "I believe him to be very sick and can't post due to health concerns," that would make things clear and we would have probably respected that (I know I would have). However, you didn't. Probably because his health is not what is slowing his posting here as evidence by his posting on DT. You can either quit this the failing charade or try a new tack.Quote: LarrySI guess the old rules have returned where we can mock others in their abscence and take a bet on their death.

On a different note, I hope members of this forum are in good health or get headed in the direction of good health soon.
Oh yeah I dodnt do a good enough job to talk about someones personal medical problems.
If someone told me here they are visting their sister because she is sick and leaves it vague.....itsok for me to make the hilarious joke when the poster is away for a few days that I will give odds on the sisters death
And then blame the psoter that the exact illness was not divuldged. Because after all making a line on a persons death is funny.
I said he was ill, and sarcastically mentioned that a death might be hilarious to someone. You took that as taking it lightly?
Thats enough info to get people to lay off. Question if he is alright today? Show some concern?
But people find it funny to make lines on the death of members. So where is the line where its not hilarious....you unborn child? your wife. your sister flying cross country....taking odds on a crash.....when is it not funny...or is it always fun and games
I am not saying someone should be banished for. Like you and BBB have shown...this can be viewed as very funny stuff
I just have a different opinion. Especially in the light of being told someone is sick
no one said ooops.....on second thought...it wasnt so funny.
Instead I get all this tap dancing how I didnt explain things better....as if my parents should have raised me better.
No its not ME..
I reject that its all in great fun to joke about someones death when they are not in the room, when they are not there to participate in the hysterical joke.
Its just a pure insult...minimizing the value of their life.,,,,enjoying the thought of someones death, joking about it,
You think its funny and I dont
we just dont agree.....its the way you are....I cant go back and forth and expect a resolution. You have your ideas of funny....and I have my ideas.

Yes, sarcasm is a form of humor. When someone spends about 1/2 of their post using sarcasm, then we can guess they find an issue to not be beyond comedy.Quote: LarrySI said he was ill, and sarcastically mentioned that a death might be hilarious to someone. You took that as taking it lightly?
Since your post find one person who joked about his health. You won't. All you will find are your posts about his health, some of the same old jokes about how Niagara Falls went dry and BBB pointing out your trolling posts. Then you will find this post from me:Quote: LarrySBut people find it funny to make lines on the death of members.
Where did I say that I wish ill on EB? Oh that's right, I didn't. I defended jokes which some might see as taboo. This is an opinion of mine. I fall on the side that once some things are off limits, too much goes off limits. You seem to disagree. No harm there, reasonable minds can differ on that. However, you then again resorted to thoughts which are clearly offensive to you with the hope that it would raise my ire or change my mind referencing death upon my child or mother.Quote: endermike, defending dark humorIt can be. I have no problem with people making jokes. I am not so fragile of mind that I can't tune out a bad thought if it offends me (which these do not). If I am ever in a situation where I find myself becoming unhinged due to some comment online I can always leave the conversation. Sick has many meanings. Your phrase was "pretty sick." That can mean any of a wide variety of maladies. To me the default meaning would be too sick for work but going to get better in a few days. I would use "pretty sick" for food poisoning or a bad cold. I would never use that phrase to mean gravely sick. On that we may disagree. On that point, no problem there, English is an imperfect language.Quote: LarrySI just have a different opinion. Especially in the light of being told someone is sick
I too doubt we can blame parents on this one. The lack of clarity in your posts is probably your own fault. (See the next quote, literally the next one in your post.)Quote: LarrySInstead I get all this tap dancing how I didnt explain things better....as if my parents should have raised me better.
