In my last three trips to Vegas, one just 6 weeks ago,
something has changed there. It's kind of depressing
now, and it never used to be. The unfinished construction
on the Strip, the homeless people on Fremont St now,
with their signs. I'm a tourist, I don't need to see that
crap. It's gives Vegas a seedy feel to me, like it's
going downhill or something.

Even the few Strip casinos I was in had a odd feeling
about them. Like their best days were behind them.
It's like something is missing there now, an excitement.
It used to be, It's Vegas, Baby! Now, It's Vegas Baby. Yawn..

Could it possibly be your own state of mind or perhaps the fact that you have been there too often or the fact that you are getting older?

I know that when I used to come to Vegas back in the day I was off my head with excitement but now that I live here, it is very ho-hum at times. The city has gotten better and the casinos have gotten bigger, brighter and more fantastic but I have changed......

Just a thought

good point. That happens alot in life. Even going somewhere the "second time" often seems lackluster.

Something can seem so new and freshthe first time you go there..and then seem average the next time.

Kind of like finding a new favorite resteraunt. At the beginning its all new and everything tastes special and different. By the 12th time you go...its just another nice place to eat.

As a kid you go to disneyworld and its all amazing and wonderful. Go back as an adult and you notice the paint peeling on the signs, and the repaired stitching on mickeys costume.

We do change, and the places we go change for the worse, or stay the same making them boring. Its usally a combo

there comes a time when as adults we are not impressed by any more laser lights, neon lights. fireworks. stage "spectaculars"......we have seen it

I remember many many years ago...the first cirque show I saw was so different and wonderful......now they all seem the same to me...they dont impress. but there is a new wide eyed generation who is going to see it for the first time....and say 'wow"

I don't want to liken it to the following example but it kinda holds true.....

As adults we have seen it all, even when watching porn (those who do that) we get bored with the images we constantly see. We want to see stuff we have never seen or experience things we have never experienced before.....

Then you get the so called "snuff" industry, that makes money of other peoples pain or ultimately death. People pay money for such things because they have never seen it before or it is considered very "risque". Soon, people will become sick of that too and move on to some other fad that they have never seen before.

It is a sad endictement on our society that we are able to degrade our morals or dampen our senses simply for a visceral delight?

Anyway, Bob, don't google "snuff films" please, i don't want you to. I want you to remain pure as the driven snow :)

Just pick different kinds of girls. Cheerleader one day, nurse the next lol.

the analogy doesnt hold. Going to disney land as a kid vs as an adult, or going to vegas for the 12th time......compared to watching porn and jumping to snuff films which are illegal and for the enjoyment of the mentally ill. Getting sexual thrills from the filmed death of someone is a sign of a mentally ill person....not a person who gets tired of a resteraunt or a theme park.
