I'm not a poker player. The craps game sounds great.

I have a brilliant craps system:
1) bet pass line
2) take odds
3) lose

What a lovely time. I was born at 11:35am pst on that date 35 years ago. I would love to go, but I only budget one leave the state vacation a year. Maybe if I happen to win big between now and then I'll sneek over.

Duly noted, so should I just change it to, "No vote," because Mountaineer and WI have no chance, anyway.

You can change mine to "no vote" as well.

I also might not be able to make it at this point because the pipe between my house and the water main decided to bust on Wednesda, and I'm not sure how much this is going to cost to repair. I'm at the end of my third day without running water now. Woohoo!

Here are the choices of casino to vote upon:

Rivers
Meadows
Mountaineer
Wheeling Island

The current vote, as I understand it:

Mission146-Meadows
OneNickelMiracle-Meadows
GWAE-Meadows
Teddys-Rivers
AZDuffman-Rivers
MWalz9-Rivers
KeyserSoze-Meadows
OdiousGambit-Meadows

The current vote is 5-3 in favor of Meadows. I'm going to leave voting open until January 15th to give everyone enough time to see this thread, of course, people don't necessarily have to announce they are coming by then, but I'd like us to have a solid casino plan by then so we can then work on eats.

I don't know that they'll care about that as much as bringing multiple people to the restaurant to eat, if we decide to eat there. After the vote on the casino goes final, we'll explore our options in terms of food, though eating there is most convenient, so it will get my vote. If anyone wants to research any restaurants within ten (or so) miles and make suggestions, they could.

I think most people going will already have a player's club card there, but they usually do a small amount of introductory free play and a lottery ticket, so it's worth getting.

Greetings!

To the best of my understanding, the current roster of attendees is as follows:

Mission146
Teddys
AZDuffman
Vendman1
DRussell0208
KeyserSoze
OneNickelMiracle
Wrongway
Mwalz9

With respect to a casino, the final vote has come in and is 5-3-0-0 in favor of Meadows over Rivers over Mountaineer/Wheeling Island.

Food

With respect to eating options, Meadows has the following:

http://www.meadowsgaming.com/dining

1.) Bistecca SteakHouse and Wine Bar

Here is a link to the menu:

http://www.meadowsgaming.com/images/newmenu/BisteccaSpring2013-MeadowsRacetrackandCasino.pdf

It's pretty G**D**n expensive, I don't think any food could actually be worth that, but it is a special occasion, so if that gets the vote, so be it.

It opens at 4:00p.m. on Sundays.

2.) The Terrace

http://www.meadowsgaming.com/dining/terrace-cafe

The Terrace apparently has a Prime Rib buffet from 5p.m-11p.m. and the regular menu is not available during that time.

The lunch and dinner menus are available through the website, although, I'm not quite sure what time dinner starts since dinner is apparently not available during the prime rib buffet.

It's about the price you'd expect of a somewhat good casual restaurant, and will probably be my vote.

3.) Delvin's Trackside

http://www.meadowsgaming.com/dining/delvins-cafe

Glorified concession stand.

4.) The Food Court

Pizza, dogs, fish & chips, dessert place.

http://www.meadowsgaming.com/dining/food-court

Voting

1.) From now until January 20th (four days) I would like to give everyone the opportunity to explore dining options in Washington, PA, and preferably within ten miles of the Meadows for those of you who wish to eat somewhere other than the Meadows. I'm not going to do that, because I prefer to remain at the Meadows, but if anyone has any good suggestions, definitely throw them out there and we will whittle down the list and vote.

2.) I would also like to vote on a time that we will have our main meal. I happen to think the food court will be a great place for an initial 1:00p.m. meet-up, so I suggest we meet there. If we are going to have dinner after 5:00p.m., then we might consider grabbing something from the Food Court for a quick lunch. If we decide to do an earlier dinner, then people can grab something from the food court if they want to or not grab something.

Meet-Up

I believe the Food Court shall be the best place to initially convene at 1:00p.m., if anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know. I will be wearing my Green Wizard of Odds polo, so looking for me will be a simple matter.

Roster of Attendees

It's not terribly important, but I would like to attempt to get us some kind of group discount on this whole thing, but in order to do that, it will be best for me to have a general idea of how many people should be going. If you have a good friend or significant other, definitely bring that individual along!!! I would say there is a 90% chance my wife will be coming. I would respectfully request that nobody bring more than one non-Forum Member, but it's a free world, and I'm only buying dinner for myself and my wife, so if anyone wants to bring sixty people, I can't stop you!!!

Is Mission going to eat one of those ten Pound hamburgers they have downstairs in the track betting area? Don't know if they still have those big sandwiches, but have to throw it out there.

I've only eaten in the expensive restaurants at casinos once long ago, but it was well worth the expense. I think they drug it it was so good but the mental barrier to pay so much is hard to cross.

Food I'm vote neutral for now.

I don't know, I'd have to see the burger. I've been to Meadows a number of times, but I've never eaten there. I've probably only eaten at Wheeling Island twice in the last decade and have never eaten at Rivers, Mountaineer, Scioto Downs or any casino within a couple hundred of here.

In fact, when I lived in Kansas City, I don't believe I ate at any of those casinos, either. I spent so much time at Harrah's NKC you would think my eating there, at some point, would have been almost inevitable, but I don't think I ever did.

My barrier is the, "People are starving, and I am paying XX.xx for this, and it's not enough to last three days!" I don't know, it makes me feel guilty.

I'm not completely opposed to the fancy steakhouse, I just think it will be a little weird for every single one of us to go to my house, enter my bedroom, and all listen to Boys II Men together, not to mention what happens after that, because that's what has happened with my company any other time in my life that I've dined at a place comparatively expensive.

In all seriousness, if it gets the vote, I won't gripe. I just find it silly. LOL

Regarding Bistecca, for us it wouldn't be the price as much as the duration. If the meal started at 6 it would be over at 8, and if we left immediately afterward we would get home after midnight, and I work the next morning. The Terrace would probably be similar to Pacer's at Mohegan Pocono, which is pretty decent.

Oh, and: two. Mrs Mosca is all in. Slots, but still.

La bon vie at Mountaineer once on comp, and why I never could split with the fifty plus to eat.

I know there's Primanti brothers off 79 exit 60??? but I think it's quite far. Would have been easy for the original in Pittsburgh.

I don't know much about the places nearby but am pretty sure meadows wouldn't give discounts. They won't even let you use food coupons for the local candy bars they sell for twice retail.

In response to Mosca:

I definitely don't think we need to spend that kind of time waiting for food, so I would strongly encourage a vote on something else for that reason. However, we would also be effectively having the same kind of wait on food to leave the property, so I don't know that I like that much, either.

We are eventually going to be putting the time of the meal to a vote, and I strongly recommend we pay special consideration to those with a long drive and something to do the following morning. In fact, I'd probably be voting in favor of us just having a nice lunch around 2:00p.m. to give any stragglers a chance to get there and then we can all play after.

I'll look forward to meeting Mrs. Mosca, Mrs. Mission seems to prefer Video Poker to slots, but she'd probably play a machine as long as she could have a total bet of less than $0.25...she'll just be pissed when that doesn't get her any free drinks...LOL Different world, Vegas.

In response to OneNickelMiracle:

I had a few comps to Mountaineer here and there and never used any, I also could have ate the buffet for free at Scioto Downs basically anytime I wanted, but I had been told that FREE would have been over-paying for that buffet!!!

I don't know anything about the location of most Primanti Brothers, but we can put it up to a vote if it is somewhat close, or even if it is not somewhat close. Meadows is Exit 41, so if the Primanti is Exit 60, then you're looking at about 20-25 minutes given that it is a straight shot down the highway.

They may or may not give discounts, but they definitely won't if I don't ask!

As far as eating I prefer the Terrace or the Steakhouse. I don't want to really spend $100 on dinner but for WOV-East II I could do it. We did it at Rivers for the first one and all enjoyed it. The only place I would suggest off-site to eat is the Sharp Edge, average food but if beer is your thing you will find almost everything but Coors Light. Otherwise most of what I know in Washington, PA typical franchise fare.

Let me add that I really prefer to stay on site and if any others in the group want to stay I will want to stay. IMHO staying on site the entire time is preferable as this is not like meeting on Freemont St. To go elsewhere is a hassle.

I will be alone, no guests.

I say dinner about 6, each grab their own bites in the food court before we meet. If not the food court I prefer we meet in the big bar in the middle of the casino, nice view and easy to find people.

I also suggest we have a small sign on the table so we know where it is. I will probably be among the first there but doubt people know what I look like.

Just curious how other meet ups have gone. After or Before eating does every one kinda stick together and play craps or whatever or does everyone meet at the beginning and say hi then go on their own? I am guessing it is kinda both but just curious what the other time was like.

My wife wants to go as it is a gambling trip but she thinks it would be weird since she doesn't know anyone. I lol'ed at her and said I don't know anyone either.

Pricey steakhouses take pride in the leisurely pace. Because we're going for the meet rather than the food, the more casual and less expensive venue will both fit our needs and be a better value. Win-win. And like AZD, we vote for on site. I'd go to the Sharp Edge for the beer, but with a long drive ahead of me I wouldn't even have one.

Hell, we don't know anyone either. But it's a casino. Mrs will look for machines with mermaids, I can put elbows next to people who can warn me against hitting that 15 vs the dealer's 6, so that will be a good thing. I can run a hundred through the $5 WoF. It will all be good.

At WOV-East I we met in the bar at Rivers and mingled for a few hours all over the place. Almost got to get first BJ hand at new e-tables, since ripped out. We then had dinner at Andrews Steak House. One member had some comps that reduced the bite of the bill a touch. Different people played together at different times. The conversation lasted quite a bit as we met in the bar. The news media had to leave early due to a prior engagement.

What else can I tell anyone?

I am pissed that I have lost (badly) every time I have met up with WoVMembers. I lost badly with AcesAndEights and HotBlonde; at the Rivers meetup; and others. Okay, I've had a few small wins with Nareed and OneAngryDwarf. But I'm due for a monster craps roll with the WoV folks. Where are the dice controllers?! Darkside or rightside, doesn't matter...

Well, we were both playing right side at Main Street Station when I won the $1000 on my roll. Unfortunately, a couple of my come out 7s really blistered you with your numerous come bets and odds working. If I am remembering correctly, IMO, that really was the difference in why I won and you lost. I was betting across, while you were CB, but I don't remember if that was working out better for me or not.

I just looked it up, and it is 476 miles for me (7.2 hours)...... Yuck.
As much as I would like to meet everyone, I think that is going to be past my tolerance level.

OR?

in the case of the former, just leave the date open and check the weather! I'd hate to think it was just going to be hairy-legged guys with bristly beards only!

Lol...it's 1000 miles each way. So, if I show up, I have to shave my legs? In winter? (kidding)

I've been to the Meadows hundreds of times and have a players card. The Steakhouse is good, but pricey. The food court is also good and rather cheap. I think The Terrace actually fits what we're trying to do better, so that gets my vote.

I'd be fine eating at 6pm as well. I, like Mosca, have to work the next day but fortunately my drive is only 1.5 hours, so I'd prefer to be gone by 8:30, home by 10.

Also, it will be my wife with me. She also is a slot player and sometimes will play blackjack for $5/hand. I play any and everything, but prefer craps, blackjack and the horses and try to avoid the slots unless she wants me to drop a $20.

My vote is for the terrace. Steakhouse is good but might take too long. I don't like the food court at all. I have found that if you play for several hours, it is not hard to get a comp to the Terrace. Also, my wife will be joining me. She plays craps and blackjack.

It'll be nice to have a lady at the Craps table should she like to join us.

Greetings!

To the best of my understanding, the current roster of attendees is as follows:

Mission146 w/Mrs. Mission146
Teddys
AZDuffman
Vendman1
DRussell0208
KeyserSoze
OneNickelMiracle
Wrongway w/Mrs. Wrongway
Mwalz9
Mosca w/Mrs. Mosca
OdiousGambit
GWAE w/Mrs. GWAE
Vendman1 (Maybe)
JohnnyQ (Probably)
Wudged (Maybe)
RDW4Potus (Maybe)

The Following Has been Decided

Casino: The Meadows
Date: Sunday, March 2nd, 2014
Initial Time: 1:00p.m.
Initial Meeting Place: The Food Court

Restaurant

We presently have two off-site suggestions, Primanti Brothers and the Sharp Edge, but neither of them have an actual vote. The last day for voting is tomorrow and the current vote is as follows:

MWalz9: The Terrace
Mosca: The Terrace
Mission146: The Terrace
AZDuffman: The Terrace
WrongWay: The Terrace
OneNickelMiracle: The Terrace

I believe we have had a suggestion for dinner at 6:00p.m., which I will also be putting to a vote after the restaurant vote goes official. I would remind everyone that the menu can be ignored (as of right now) after 5:00p.m. because it becomes a Prime Rib buffet at 5:00p.m..

I probably won't vote on a time to eat, I'm good either way.

It seems that we have as many as sixteen people definitely coming, so hopefully, that will get us some special consideration. It has also been suggested that a comp at The Terrace is not hard to get, so some of us might be comped. I'm still going to call about a group discount, though, and whoever gets comped gets comped.

add me to the terrace vote.

Also, anyone who has a card already could go to their website and do the webpass game. You may even be able to sign up for the card there and still do the game but I am not sure. With 43 days till the meeting you could get 40-50k points and redeem them for some things. If you play the games smartly you could get 100k. You get points everytime you beat your high score so if you play until you beat your last one and then end game you could earn a lot of points.

50k points gets you a $10 food voucher.

ETA: Has anyone done the prime rib buffet? I am curious as to what this is. I am guessing it is just a tiny buffet like a wedding would be.
Expect the worst and you will never be disappointed. I AM NOT PART OF GWAE RADIO SHOW
