Due to circumstances beyond my control, I will no longer be able to post on these message boards. My time on here has been extremely fun and educational. I have learned from people hereon and count some of you as friends in the real world.

However, someone on these boards has taken it upon themselves to not only forcibly insert themselves into my gaming life, but my personal and business life as well. This person has caused me to lose faith in how people treat one another. I do not know what this person has against me or why they did this. Rather than bringing any perceived inequity or slight to my attention, they chose to go behind my back and reach out to people in my personal, business and gaming life.

The Wizard is aware of this and will be on the lookout for any other complaints about this person (as I have their real name, just not their screen name). I hope you all stay untouched by this person's actions and that you all have positive variance in all aspects of your lives. I will stick around to comment on this thread but will no longer post any trip reports or any other threads.

Dude. That sucks. Ain't gonna be the same without the trip reports. That's how I spent New Years Eve- home with a beer (or ten) and MacBook, following Ace in A.C.

Hopefully something will change that will have you return. Otherwise, you will be missed.

Well, I will miss the trip reports and running commentary as well. It is a shame that someone decided to attempt to insert themselves into my life off of the boards in a negative way. I cannot comprehend what their motivation was. It is actually a bit scary that someone could and would do that.

That sounds as if some of that took place in Jersey. If so, that is especially crappy.

I wish I could reveal what they tried to do to me...but, the Wizard is the only one who knows. This is so if anyone complains of the same thing, it will be legitimate and not someone looking to just goof off.

Obviously I have no idea what happened, but it sure doesn't seem to make any sense to me to stop doing something you are enjoying. I'm sure you could change a thing or two (don't post where your going to be, stop posting trip reports real time and just post after, etc) and still get the benefits of participating in the forum.

I had a similar type of thing happen when I was umpiring Little League baseball. I almost let one person ruin it for me and for what I was giving to the kids of the community.

I understand you might have some initial fears about whatever happened, but take a step back and allow yourself to conquer the situation, not the other person to conquer you.

@zcore having had a similar experience, you know where I am coming from. In this case though, it is scary how this person is invading my real life. How did you resolve your issue?

@midwest I am humbled by your kind words. Having only been a BJ player for a few years, I have come to love the game and almost everyone I have met along the way. I gamble for fun and the social aspect. Posting here has helped broaden my enjoyment and I am sad to go.

@evenbob Thanks for all the support and I am jonesing for chauncey and soda to do their trip reports (especially since chauncey posts pics of cash then braves the boardwalk with said cash)

@ibeatyouraces Photos are somewhat incriminating and I only posted when there was a bizarre hand

While I'm new to these boards I have really enjoyed your post Ace!! I really really hate to see you leave. It won't be the same without the AC reports from you. I agree with what's allready been stated. Maybe you could post your reports after the fact instead of actual time. Know you will be greatly missed!!

@mikey Thanks for the support. The issue is not real time reports at all or that would be an option (to just post an "after"-trip report.)

Ace, I can understand how you feel. I had an incident, a robbery at gunpoint two years ago that was a result of my posting on a blackjack site at the time. I know this because of something the gunman said. Your immediate knee jerk reaction is to quit posting. But you know what, I still post on several sites, obviously this one included. I read the sites because it is beneficial to me to do so, being an AP. But I post because I enjoy participating. The life of a pro BJ player is sometimes pretty isolated. We are loners by nature. And often we don't have family/friends that really understand what we do or are going through. Forums like this can provide that chance to share experiences with like minded individuals. Now, I realize you are not a professional player, but I think the same holds true for many frequent serious players that play alot. You may not have people in your personal life to share these experiences with.

Now it sucks that you have encountered a situation, as I did, where your participation became a liability for you. And one option you have is to cease that participate as you are contemplating. But, you know what. I decided I was not going to let some A-hole take something away from me that I enjoy. I was not going to let someone else dictate my life. So, I made some changes as far as not posting as many details and vowed to learn from the experience and continued to do what I wanted to do. Now, I don't know the extent of your situation. You do what you need to do. But just consider learning and correcting previous mistakes rather than letting someone else dictate your actions.

Peace to you, sir.

@kewl I am sorry you were physically threatened with violence based upon your postings, that is horrific. So how was it that you did not go with your knee-jerk reaction? How did the violent situation resolve itself? As I am not a professional player and do not rely upon gaming to live my life, the fact that this person is attenpting to affect all areas of my life from some underground lair disturbs me.

Well I think our stories probably have some similarity, but I'm sure not at all the same. Mine was an anonymous note left on my car after a close game early in my umpiring career. I had a pretty good idea who it was, but I just kept doing an honest and fair job. I eventually earned the respect of others, going on to become League Supervisor, District Supervisor, getting State Championship plate assignments for every level from 10 years old to 18 years old and finally working Spring Training games for the SF Giants.

You have to believe in your heart what you are doing is ok. If it is, don't let others that are heartless or of poor morals change you.

Well, I did go with my knee jerk reaction. :( My incident took place 30 yards out front of my condo building, so this person was aware of where I lived. I figured just ceasing posting wouldn't be enough. I came up with a stupid idiotic plan of letting it be known that I had passed away, that backfired and hurt some of the members of the site that I was participating on at the time. After that plan backfired, I realized that I had let this incident and this creep, control me. So rather than stop posting or start posting under a different handle, as I still had the option at that time, I continued posting with the same handle and refused to let someone else have that glory of being in control of my actions. I just vowed to learn from the situation. But that is the way I feel about most negative experiences. Learn. Adjust. Move forward.

You're a high profile divorce attorney and it took someone from this board to cause you to lose faith in how people treat one another? Something's not right here. You make it sound like you've got a stalker or something. I hope you can get control of those circumstances soon. In the meantime your well being is the most important thing.

If you leave the forum, that will be a loss to the forum. I am a bit disappointed, though, that you have not made it clear who the perpetrator is. It is like saying.... "careful everyone, there is a man with a gun here in the theater...., I know who it is but I don't want to tell you..." It sounds like you are waiting for him to ruin another poster before you make it known who it is....

Dear Ace,

I think you have what it takes to step up your game... based on ur posts I have been able to pin point you to a person in a casino...I wasn't trying to look for you but it was easily identifiable.... YOu play perfect basiac strategy and use a terrible count (not taking a shot at you, I was just like you before I became an ap). you have a very carrying personality from what I can tell. I was able to tell who you were from the detail posts you give out.....I just want to help you and my intentions are genuine.. but if I was a scumbag and wanted to hurt you (I guess like some one this site) you would not be hard to find. Listen to kj's advice... I have been hurt by message boards a little bit and now do not give detailed information at all. If you want to start seriously counting you are going to have to cut out your public appearance.. which means no more trip reports. I know you make good money inyour career so you might just want a good hobby.. if you step up your game you can play a break even game ... get all the comps you want.. and they won't kick you out cause your being polite.. if you like me you will go for blood and take all the money you can get your hands on (I have professional career outside of gambling as well)

like I have said I have seen you play perfect basic strategy and really think if you take a month and a half off and improve your game you could easily win 20-40k a year with your bankroll. I was a blackchip gambler like you before I started to count. Once I started to count a whole new world opened up to me. If you know who I am based on this post please keep it descreet cause I value my annonimity so please pm me so I can talk to you further if your interested. I want to help not hurt.....

This might be a perfect opportunity to let the boardwalk settle down for a while.... take time off and step your game up.... and resume play in PA, CT, DE.... where much better games can be found....

like I have said I have seen you play perfect basic strategy and really think if you take a month and a half off and improve your game you could easily win 20-40k a year with your bankroll.

Hmmm why not say hello?

Sorry to see you go and to hear of the difficulties- I've enjoyed your posts since joining WoV in the past year.
Lack of prior planning on your part doesn't constitute an emergency on my part.

Sorry to see you go. Enjoyed reading your posts. Things will work out for you. Just wondering how does one find out who is posting. Don't we all have funny screen names?

I am partially to blame as I revealed too much personal info - I suppose being a real person is the wrong thing to do online
