Wow, a true wild west gunfight between occupants of a Maserati and a Land Rover in the heart of the Strip.

Not too sad, except for the collateral damage to the passengers in a cab who were caught in the middle of the skirmish and died.

How would a vehicle catch on fire like that after a collision?

I wonder how fast the cars were going for that to happen?

The gunfight is alleged to have been a continuation of bad blood between patrons at a night club.

Not the kind of image of Las Vegas that Ma and Pa Kettle want to see, that's for sure.

I second this and this goes for most places, not only the strip. And this from a guy still in my 20's for a few more days, not far removed from those late night club exits and early morning sunrise breakfast's at that very corner (Bills gambling hall) or just down the street at Tuscany. I lived a blaock away at Flamingo/koval for 2 and 1/2 years.

Nightclub rage or Road Rage, but it seems that all them bullets were coming FROM the SUV since no guns or ammunition was found in the Maserati or along the street.

Ma and Pa Kettle ain't got no money. People come from Los Angeles to party. Seven out of ten highest grossing nightclubs are in Vegas. Ma and Pa Kettle ain't ever amongst them. The woman in Las Vegas who was arrested for having sex with a Pit Bull might or might not be Ma and Pa Kettle Territory. In Nevada such things are illegal only if performed in public. Somebody in the SUV wanted to party! So they partied!

Oh for the good ol' Days when you went to the Horseshoe and said hello to Benny Binion if you wanted to party in Vegas and if you were Ma and Pa Kettle you quietly settled into an RV park and baked in the hot sun as you gambled at a locals casino.

Quote: Dealer'sUnionRepresentative

Police are investigating whether the dispute began with a customer refusing to tip a dealer.

.Would be a great rumor to start but its only a different type of "dealer" who can afford cars like that.

Is it just a coincidence that 90% of the Vegas Strip show seems to be filmed in that area?. I for one will not go out on the strip after 2:00 AM I do not think it is safe anymore. There definitely seems to be a criminal element that you notice more at that time. I hear more sirens between 2:00 Am and 6:00AM then the rest of the day combined.

Gangbangers or rapper wannabes shoot or stab someone or each other over totally stupid shit more often than not. Why if I shot someone over casual disrespect issue, I'd probably have to kill everyone on this board eventually. (theoretically...)

What is even worse is that this took place at the portion which is part of the self-proclaimed Ultra Plush "THE Hotel" although the incident may have resulted in there being people over-charged.

Would it have been randomness for cab driver and occupant to have been wounded?
Would it have been randomness for it to be "passing cab driver returned fire and ended the incident"?

No, I guess you are right: this sort of thing tends to catch the unwary and unlucky. Some hooker with her nights earnings? Some poor slob trying to make a living? Some decent driver who refused to long-haul someone? Who knows.

I wonder is Nevada's "dram shop liability law" would be construed liberally enough to find liability against the club that presumably overserved the murderer?

Certainly serving copious alcohol to apparent thugs could lead to foreseeable negative consequences.

Looks like a dispute at a nightclub spilled onth the strip. Reports are now saying that the shots only came from the Range Rover.

In the end, it will show that someone looked at someone wrong, "Dissed them" or talked to the wrong person.

But also the liberal media will use this as a gun issue when the odds are people involved had ciminal records and never could have purchased a gun legally.

I'm surprised that its taking so long to find out about the dealer plates... it might be simply a dealer driving the vehicle rather than having recently sold the vehicle, but surely dealers have all been contacted and are aware of the publicity. A dealer might not want to give up his customer but under the circumstances it just seems safer for a dealer to do it promptly.

Anyway, its a new "image" to 'Vegas, Baby" and perhaps yet another indication of how Vegas is a destination for party-types rather than gamblers.

My assumption is that over 90% of tourists are on the strip vs anywhere else in Vegas. More people = More bad things happen.

Art who?
It might be interesting to focus on the poor souls in the taxi, a driver and rear-seat passenger. Apparently the gas tank was ruptured and there was a fire. In Las Vegas, the door locks are under the control of the cab driver so that he can obtain his payment. That rear seat passenger may have had some interesting struggles before it was too late.

Although news reports keep mentioning Utah as a possible source of the new car's dealer's plates, everything suggests some gang banger from Los Angeles. Got dissed in the valet parking area, got even once he caught up with the car. Life is simple. Life is cheap.

Tupac? Tupac had just decided to audit Death Row Records. His days were numbered after that!

This LV Strip incident just seems to have been some "Got dissed ... Got even" road rage incident. Even the taxi and his passenger were going thru a green light at the time they got hit by a car whose driver was trying to flee bullets and didn't know that the best way to put the shooters at a disadvantaged angle is usually to punch it into Reverse.

It would be nice to live in a town where homicides were so infrequent that I could vividly recall them nearly 20 years after they happened. Unfortunately, in this town, I forget them 48 hours later because 3 more have occurred in that timeframe.

Chicago's murder rate (515 in 2012) is equivalent to 1 homicide for every 5256 people in the city (2,720,120 population as of 2011) or approximately 19 per every 100,000 people a year.
