Just curious if any experts had an answer
Background of event....
I bet mostly sports at casinos
When I win, if I have over the $100 denomination, like I win $479 for example...after I cash out, I'll take the $79 and pick a color on roulette and bet it.
Win or lose I leave(bets range from $50 to $150, nothing crazy like $1000)
Everytime I do it, the dealer calls out 'black outside' to the pit boss
normally when I win and double up, the pit boss introduces themselves and asks me if I want a 'players card' etc
Is it bad for me to bet at roulette like this?
Can they 86 me for doin it?
What do the different colors mean?
thx in advance and sorry if the question seems stupid, im just curious

Is it bad? Depends on whether it's a 0 or 00 wheel. If it's 00, you have better things you could do with your money. Otherwise, not that bad (see below).
You can't get 86ed. Why would you be worried about that?
The only thing that's a little weird is most roulette players buy one of those coloured stacks (a different colour for each player), and bet a bunch of chips. If you bet regular chips, they can't be sure it was you or someone else they should pay. This could create a problem if someone standing next to you claims they made that bet. The dealer is actually protecting you and the game by alerting the pit boss to your large bet.
You should consider getting a players card, and giving it to the boss even if you make only one bet. Someday you might get some offers.

Wisdom is the quality that keeps you out of situations where you would otherwise need it

Contrary to what dwheatley said, it's perfectly fine to bet using regular checques on the outside bets. Since those betting areas are large, multiple people could be making those bets, and it's easy to keep track of whose is whose.
It's when you play the inside numbers that it gets easier if you use colored Roulette chips.
As far as the dealer's call of "Checques play," that's standard at any table when a player makes a bet considerably larger than the table minimum. Usually it's for a $100 bet, but I've seen it called when a player bumps his bet considerably, even those it's still under $100. It's just procedure to alert the pit boss so that they can watch or potential cheating, as well as to make sure you're using a players card, or offer to get you one.
As far as actually using one, it doesn't hurt. You should tell the pit boss what you are doing and that you generally only make one bet, win or lose, after a day at the sports book. If he makes it sound like it's not going to be a pain in the ass to rate you for one bet, then why not?
While you're at it, you should ask if there's any benefit to using a player's card in the sports book as well.
You may get nothing but pennies per hundred dollars bet, towards a meal. Even those pennies add up. Do you ever eat at the casino? Wouldn't you want a discount for no effort?
