I've played at NYNY many times, and I keep coming back because I think it has the most fun gambling atmosphere of any casino I've played at. Almost every time I've played here, I've ended up talking to the other patrons at my table (and I'm not the most extroverted person in the world).

Win or lose I've had a great time and met some other people looking for the same thing as me--have a good time, gamble a bit, and hope to get lucky and win.

I've even ended up leaving the casino with a group of people I'd never met before and hanging out with them for the night. It just seems like people at NYNY are really laid back and looking for a good time. Just the type of crowd I want to be around when I'm in Vegas.
The ratio of people to cake is too big.

It sounds like you are a very social and friendly person. You may want to comment on my review of NYNY that's posted here. We obviously have very different opinions.

I imagine that opinions can differ for a variety of reasons: games played, time of day visited, won or lost, etc. We all value different things and have different weights that we might give to a particular item.

I don't make sports book wagers so the expiration limit on the tickets is of little consequence to me. Moreover, if two casinos each have a thirty day expiration they might still have radically different policies as to how rigidly they enforce such expiration limits.

The NYNY review mentioned watered-down drinks. For some reason the mere thought of that would largely turn me off to a casino. It is not that I drink all that much or am even an expert at detecting a watered-down drink. For much of my gambling I try to drink only fruit juice or water. However the mere knowledge that the casino served watered-down drinks would be a major hurdle for me. I would not trust them and I really would not like to gamble there. I would much prefer to have less frequent drink service than to have watered-down drinks. Its just a matter of honesty. A good brand of liquor served once an hour at full strength would far outweigh a cheap brand served every ten minutes in a watered-down fashion. Others might prefer the more frequent service, I would not.

The comp system can be somewhat archaic in its data input. Thats okay. I can tolerate delays and many casinos have a day that starts at either 3:00am or 4:00am for comps because their day for IRS purposes starts at those hours. The casino does not want their day to start at midnight because that is simply too busy a time for them. I am perfectly willing to accept this somewhat strange time to officially star the "day". What I am not willing to accept is a comp system that tolerates unfulfilled promises. Rewarding you at far less than your expected value means they are cheap, rewarding you at a rate other than that which they had indicated to you means that they are dishonest and misleading. I would have great difficulty with a casino that had that reputation.

Although I've heard some very good things about the NYNY casino and the NYNY "crowd", I think I'd rather risk losing my money elsewhere than reward a casino that served watered-down drinks or reneged on its comp promises.

NY NY is more for tourists. It does have a unique atmosphere, and we like to go there just to hang out, pwople watch and get a slice of pizza, but I would never gamble there.

But I can see why others would enjoy the experience there.

I'm not really interested in their player's club, the returns are too low compared to a dozen other properties, but I don't play for comps anyway. I play for fun, and it's fun to win so I go elsewhere where I can win more and more often.

I go to Vegas too much to even play on the strip, other than an occasional Craps game at Casino Royale or Wheel of Fortune (wifey) at a few choice casinos.

We do like to hang out at the upper level bar at Margaritaville, and some of the classic rock bands at Carnival Court(Harrah's) are very good.

We might go to see a show, but that's about it.
