I have heard/read for months now that MGM plans to finally revamp their rooms. Does anyone have an estimated time table on commencement/completion? Another site (I don't think I'm supposed to post links here) says it SHOULD start in September 2011 and be completed September 2012, with the first round of rooms completed in October 2011. Any locals know anything that I wouldn't be able to find by google-snooping?

I'll be there at the end of September, so if nothing else, I'll ask and report back.

Very likely they'll close off blocks of rooms, move material in and out by service elevators (if any), and even program the regular guest elevators nto to stop at floors being worked on. Assuming they'll recarpet and change the furniture, that would be a relatively easy and quiet job. If they'll re-tile bathrooms and change plumbing fixtures, there will be lots of loud noise.

So if you'll be there, call ahead and ask for a room far away from the areas being renovated.

Vegas being Vegas, the best time for noisy work would be between 2pm and midnight, I guess. But common sense is not as common as its name suggests :P

The last units in our apartment building sold about a year ago. Til about five months ago the hammering of workers finishing apartments upstairs, heavy tools being used, and so on, began promptly at 8 am every day except Sunday. To this day I wake up spontaneously at around 8 am on Saturdays even if I went to bed at 5 am.

Geez, I didn't think about this. I'm going to be there on a busy weekend (Sept 23-26) during the i-heart music festival. Something tells me we're going to be at the whim of the Las Vegas Casino gods on this one...

Regardless, I'll get as much info as I can.

Btw, what is "EVS" (perhaps a brainfart on my part) and why are they letting people go?
