Here's a question for anyone who happens to play golf on the forum and/or is a member of Caesar's total rewards program.

While searching for a tee time yesterday and mulling over my round for today, I was reading the 2011 list of best public courses according to Golf Digest. There were a few courses in the LV area, one of these is named "Cascata" and is owned by Caesars Entertainment Company. It's up pretty high on the list, and accordingly carries a $250-$375 greens fee charge not including fees and gratuity for the mandatory caddie.

These numbers are absurd to me, but does anyone have any information either on this course or surrounding courses which may be owned by a casino company (Caesars, MGM, Boyd, etc.) and what level of play might be needed to obtain fully or partially comped fees at any of these courses? How about "best value" course in the Las Vegas area which I'll define as an hour give or take from the Las Vegas Strip.

As a side note, I got my first eagle of my golfing career today. Pretty excited about that one.

Thanks as usual for any answers.

MGM owns Shadow Creek, which is an outstanding course. I think if you want to pay for a round the cost is $1,000, but most people that use it are comped whales. For their smaller fish they are half-owners of the Primm Valley golf course. To be honest, I'm just as happy at a community course as Shadow Creek. In face, whenever I play a really nice course I always totally blow it on my golf. I find at a cheap course I'm more relaxed, which improves my score to the level of just god awful.

A course by my house, actually three of them, is Angel Park. I think that should be considered when shopping around.

I am certainly not on the level of comped whale. And that number is again, absolutely out of my fathomable price range. I paid $22 for golf with a cart today and had a blast. Was the course in great shape? No. But it was fun with friends in 70 degree weather in Mid-March in New Jersey. Can't beat that.

Thanks for the words of wisdom Wiz. FWIW, even with my eagle today I still only managed to shoot an 88, so I'm no shark on the golf course either. Typically I'll shoot in the low to mid 90's on a community or public course. Obviously scores increase for more challenging layouts.

Cascata is incredible. I was lucky enough to attend a seminer held there by Tiger Woods (before his trouble) and they let us stay after and play. All comped by Total Rewards for me, a Diamond level player! A once in a lifetime trip for me.

Congratulations on the eagle and keep us posted on your success at finding reasonable priced (under $100) courses around Vegas.

Thanks for sharing Jim. It looks pretty amazing, but I don't have the budget to justify the $300 greens fees and then caddie on top of that. Did you know beforehand that you were going to be able to play the course or was that an added bonus after the seminar was over?

Desert Willow is in Henderson and is as low as $20 (more likely $29).

It is short executive 18 hole 3,811 yards par 60 course with 6 par 4’s and 12 par 3’s (within 10 miles of the Strip).

We were actually told beforehand that we would not be playing, it was a big surprise! I had to use loaner clubs. This was put on by AT&T and other people that had been there previously said that they let them play every year.

Try Biloxi for a nice golf and gambling getaway. Play Grand Bear (Cearsars Property) or Fallen Oaks (Beau Rivage). Just don't go during the summer - way to humid.
