Discussion about the Suspension List
Recently there was talk of administrators editing posts of those posting while drunk,to save them from themselves. Is that still on the table? If so, is it just for drunks or would it extend to other posters? Does the person have to have "value"? Who decides value? For example, I don't see value in posting about filling a sock with rocks and using it to beat minorities into the ground but that's just me. When I see a cheery "hey hey" at the end of a post and it makes me chuckle, maybe I find value in that.

every single suspension comes from threads that I block as soon as they are started. I know we dont want sensors hip but it is generally very clear on which threads ate going to turn in to problems. If we eliminated those useless controversial threads then the suspension list would be much smaller.

I can't imagine you actually think Soxy should get a free pass on this. IMO There's no place for that stuff on any respectable forum.
I like Soxfan also, but 7 days seemed like a light sentence, that's some 30 day minimum sentencing stuff IMO.

I made no comment whatsoever on the merits of the suspension of soxfan, if fact I deliberately and skillfully avoided it. Would you like to know my thoughts? I agree with everything you said and I would think that soxfan may also agree.

I can appreciate the effort to be fair but, mods, it makes you look weak and ineffective. Once a decision is made stick to it. FYI. I didn't realize indecisive flip flopping back and forth was going on, since I don't have the suspension list synced to my pager ;)

From a fellow blackjack player who finds value in many of your posts, I say you should give the Mods a break, or better yet, volunteer to join them! Maybe you could even be a secret Moderator and never have to worry about complaints from the community.

I believe this site was proclaimed a kingdom, resided over by a benevolent king. (Sounds better than the images the word dictator evokes.)

Why do you waffle over racism from your friends mickey and sox but are firm and decisive over a much lesser offense from a first time offender like VDC that you happen to dislike?

I'm honored that you chose one of my posts to chime in on. I consider it quite an accomplishment on my part, especially when you've only had 26 chimes in 28 months. Don't be a stranger.
If I were an administrator and the flip flop advice were given to me in the same respectful manner that I gave it here, I would be grateful. I would be very grateful that someone cared enough and had the courage to point it out. Are suggestions to better the forum not welcome in your eyes?

I think Lee Kuan Yew was my favorite. If you read up I think you might agree. I think he would have run this site pretty fairly as well.

Not only was JyBrd0403 trolling, he vilified me by using a misquote of me that Kerkebet had doctored. Then he accused me of trying to change it. It's really a bad comedy because anyone can see my original quote and the doctored one. In addition, he recklessly didn't check the accuracy of his accusation before printing it. He libeld me, and he owes me a retraction and apology. I don't think 3 days is enough.

He was making absurd accusation of racism and accusing members here of being in a terrorist organization. And, he "substantiated" these claims by small snippets of select quotations.
He was clearly just sour that he lost a debate and decided to accuse everyone he disagreed with of being racist, so yes that is trolling.

soxfan was banned for cause, but no rule currently in effect specifically applied, though I thought there was one. So I reversed myself reluctantly in the absence of a hate speech rule. However, as Face reminded me, the Wizard had made a statement about no longer supporting that type of posting, so once I found the Wizard's quote, I applied my original ruling. "You think" incorrectly about the "many" suspensions on soxfan. He has had 2 previous bans, both a year and a half ago.
JyBrd has been a member over 5 years, had a ban over a year ago, and 2 bans over 3 years ago. However, in this case he broke a rule in posting only to attack other members, and to add insult to injury, misquoted GreasyJohn, turning the meaning of what GJ said into something completely opposite. I am giving him this one warning/ban to cease; there will be no Martingale for JyBrd on this if he continues once he returns.
You, yourself are trolling this thread with the way you are baiting both me and 1BB on this, in this and a couple previous related posts. Warning, AxelWolf.

Baiting would apply to a situation where one member is trying to get another to cross a line and break a rule. We definitely have many members who do that. They should probably be punished for really actually breaking the rules in that way. But Axel pretty clearly has no intent to get 1BB to cross a line - he just wants a response about this most recent disciplinary action, which was recorded on the suspension list. I agree that you have been misrepresented on this matter. You were trying to discuss a difficult topic sensibly and were taken out of context. Please consider this post as an acknowledgment of that, and I agree both JyBrd and Kerkebet owe you an apology, but I can't do that for either of them. If you do not get a public apology, it will have to reflect on them and their characters.
It is possible that Kerkebet simply misunderstood what you wrote; if so, I expect an apology from him very soon. In the absence of one, I will assume he meant to misquote and thereby defame you, and will take action. I am providing some time for that to happen.
In JyBrd's case, he has been suspended for the insult to you as well as the attack on all 3 of you. You have protested and corrected the error in several threads. I would expect an apology from him in your case, but we'll see what he does if and when he returns.

This is the first time I've heard kingdom and it sounds much better than dictator. I was thinking of our European friends who are involved with, make that who own, this site. Given world history some of them may be sensitive to that word. Did you know that in Germany certain references to Hitler can get you arrested?

Back in December 2013, I bumped against that same limit with the initial post of the Casino Chip of the Day thread, where I maintain an index of the chips that have been posted. In that thread, I found it better to split the index into two posts at the start of the thread. It was a little difficult, because there had been thousands of posts added after the index, but we were able to work it out to have the two-post index right at the front.
I think that would have been a nicer solution for the Suspension List thread, and I don't think it would have been much of a problem to implement there, since it was/is a single-post thread that could have become a two-post thread. Just my 2¢.

Before Mike sold his site, in trying to explain how he rules, if you will, his referred to himself as a kind of king, but a just and benevolent one (as I recall). I think this reference was apt and apporopriate.
I'm the one that used the word "kingdom" specifically. What the new owners' think is probably similar to this definition, whatever word they may choose.

If we were invaded by Russia, and local extreme militia groups were fighting back, yes I would want to help them fight back. Extreme times call for extreme measures. And, a military adviser is not paid to be politically correct, he is paid to secure the country from the invaders.
