Been reading pretty much every post for several years now. I just pointed out that the admin did not overrule the ban. So although he may not agree with, he did not overrule it.
Quote: 1BBBoz, I'm not sticking up for anyone or anything but the truth and you often seem to be there to remind me that the truth, personal opinions and disagreements are not always appreciated here. Are you saying that I should not discuss the Suspension List in this aptly named thread?
Reread the first sentence in your response. Perhaps you'll see the irony in it.
Discussion or obsession? Truth or your version of it? Irony or ironic?

That wasn't my point. He made his feelings known and they were ignored. As we're often told, we don't know what goes on "behind the scenes". This circle the wagons thing happens when someone dares to disagree or offer a different opinion and I don't understand it.

Just because the others did not agree with his feelings, does not mean those feelings were ignored. Sit on a company board and you will know that often many opinions are expressed but not all will be moved on by the board. That does not mean the opinion was ignored. If the admin felt as much disrespect as you seem to think then don't you think he would have quit the forum? Think of it this way, a good military commander will elicit opinions from others when devising a plan of operation but he does not use all of them during the operation. That does not mean he ignored those opinions and I would go so as to say he shows respect to those individuals from whom he elicited those opinions because he did ask for their opinion. If the ban had been placed without the green admins having been asked then I might agree with you on this, but from Wizard's quote, this was not the case.
Your life is ending one minute at a time. Use those minutes wisely.
Spending time complaining about a suspension on an internet message board isn't wise. Surely, you have better things to do.
And I took one minute to type this post. I feel like an idiot now.

Me me me me!
There is a difference between friendly gambling and commercial gambling. Friendly gambling is not illegal. Generally wagers with no percentage/commission taken by "the house" or bets where there are not multiple people placing bets with the "house" acting as the banker are not illegal.
Wagers between friends and wagers (like home poker games) where there is no monetary gain from a 3rd party are legal. Every bet I've ever seen on this site is between a couple of people with no commission, rake or benefit to the house.

Very few people would want to hold that title. Imagine the thread "Discussion about the goodie two shoes"Quote: MintyI think it would be great if we had a way to reinforce good behavior to cut down on suspensions and nukes without punishing. Imagine a forum with no nukes, no suspensions and rational discussion 24/7. Yes, some topics are inherently emotional and more likely to lead to issues (e.g. politics and religion), but I still think there's some way that we could improve. It wouldn't be easy, but it might be possible. I imagine some kind of banner on the side "x many days without suspensions." Kind of an interesting thought.

You still don't seem to understand because you have no idea which administrator I'm referring to. If you did you would not have mentioned him quitting the forum.

I was referring to Zuga. He's the one I quoted and he's the one who said that he saw no reason to ban strictlyAP over a private bet. Does anyone want to tell him to get over it? I didn't think so.
Maybe Ill have a talk with Zuga for you and see if we can get strictlyAP back for you.Quote: 1BBI was referring to Zuga. He's the one I quoted and he's the one who said that he saw no reason to ban strictlyAP over a private bet. Does anyone want to tell him to get over it? I didn't think so.

Ha ha. If that's my one wish I'd rather save it for something else. Sorry AP.

So it was Zuga you quoted. Ok so you are saying they just totally ignored his opinion and that you believe Zuga has been disrespected and hurt by this whole thing? If that is your opinion well so be it, but don't you think that Zuga could pretty much lift this ban whenever he felt like it? I mean he does seem to be sort of the owner now. Well in any case that doesn't really invalidate anything I have stated. I guess we disagree on this and that's ok, basically comes with the territory of living in human society.

You're back again. You claim to have read every thread and you don't know Zuga's position? Do you really think that an important person who oversees a huge business should involve himself in this nonsense? Zuga is a classy guy who has put up with more than he should have from the hangers on who just couldn't bear to see their precious site get sold. Talk about getting over it.
Instead of trying to put words in my mouth, please go back and read my post to see what I really said.
While I've got you here, what games do you play? Have you been to Vegas recently?
Quote: 1BBA secret administrator, a nameless, faceless ghost who mysteriously and conveniently appears to do the dirty work and nuke a member because of a dispute between two people. A person with the awesome power to disregard the thoughts and opinion of the very top green name on this forum. Wow! This is what it's come down to and most are okay with it. This certainly makes my hall of shame. Rules are made to be broken but I guess it depends on who is doing the breaking. I also would like to see this member reinstated.
I'm glad someone agrees. I think Zuga didn't overrule the suspension cuz he's like wow that's petty and meaningless...let the peons do whatever they want, so long as it doesn't disrupt the business. But he clearly spoke to the contrary about getting involved. I think that secret mod should be demoted.

If the mods, secret or not, are peons, what does that make you and me?
Quote: BozIf the mods, secret or not, are peons, what does that make you and me?
Dang, I had to ask Mr. Google what is lower than a peon.
I'm still not sure.

I was referring to "you and me". It was the forum that lynched SAP. The secret mod just made the final swing of the hammer. The other mods were not involved. Is there a reason you're trying to twist my words? Are you familiar with a metaphor? I was not implying that anyone, mod or not, was actually an unskilled farm worker from the pre-industrial age.

In Warcraft 1, before it turned to stupid massive online, peasant is equal to peon. Except, peasants are human. And peons are from a different dimension. In my opinion, peons are more important than grunts or spearmen.

Actually it's "You and I", but hey I'm willing to admit i'm a functional illiterate. And I'm also proud to admit I was right there with the rope.
But no twisting of your words on my part. I'll let you get your own rope.

So basically you're trolling, to provoke a response that will get me nuked...if not, I don't know what you're proudly admitting...OK thanks for the input.

Zuga seems to be a stand-up guy to me too. Yes he did get some grief from some past posters here but that should expected and in my opinion he handled everything very well.
If you checked my profile (and I think you already have) then you would know exactly what I do not play and why. When I did play it was blackjack but that was close to 30 years ago. Now that I audit the games and am in the casino 40 hours a week, I don't like going into one on my days off. I suppose you will have something to say about that but hey no one likes see an auditor walk through their door so I am use to it. If you want to know what brought me, it was the math on the Wizard of Odds site. I trust the numbers operations provides but verification from an outside source is rather useful.
Feel free to ad hominem all you want but I am done with this one.

Didn't take too long for you to pull the troll reference out. Not bad. Why not skip the basically and call it like you see it?
As for nuking, my thoughts are you will do that on your own. You don't need my help.
But as stated before, move on and keep on posting good stuff like your trip report. But that's just my advise, which isn't worth much.
I have no skin in the game except to wonder why any gamblers would debate a nonpaying deadbeat?

I stopped looking at profiles because most leave them blank. I just checked yours since you brought it up. There you go supposing again. I have nothing against auditors. I don't resort to ad hominem and I wish people would understand that term. Anyway good talk. I'm happy that you finally joined the forum. I sincerely mean that.

In Wc3, Peons (Orc) are better than wisps (Night Elf). That is, of course, if they're fighting 1v1. If you want to dispel magic or drain mama, a wisp can detonate itself in a small area (AOE ~ 125 distance). But I still think wisps < peons.
So I'd say we are all wisps, being lower than the Admins. Zuga is like a level 10 Blademaster.

I don't appreciate being called insane. I would be suspended for making this comment to you.

Haha, valid point. It wouldn't have to be directly associated with anyone, but merely a notice. I'll admit I sometimes enjoy the drama that people get caught up in and seeing the aftermath, but so much time is spent suspending and debating suspensions it's incredible. I'm really interested in psychology, so this stuff appeals to me, but obviously overhauling the whole system would be difficult.

You might be right. However, I know that some people on this forum have a competitive side (myself included), and would like to push the number as high as possible. It would be a challenge of sorts.
How would you even calculate this? You would have factor the number of posts in. Then you would have to factor in the topics they participate in and who they communicate with, or someone would just not participate often.Quote: MintyQuote: AZDuffman

It would be unfair for someone who was participating in a thread with someone like LarryS VS someone participating in a thread with someone like Face.
Perhaps you should be rewarded for surviving non suspensions if you're credited with someones suspension.

12 accredited suspensions
3 nukes

The thing is you can only challenge yourself. There are too many people who eventually pull the "try to get fired" thing and one or two who think they own the board just because they have been here since the beginning.
Quote: BozActually it's "You and I", but hey I'm willing to admit i'm a functional illiterate.
It's "you and me" as far as I can tell, in this case. It's in the predicate of the sentence, so it's probably "me".
Quick check - if you drop the "you and", is it right to use "me", or "I"?
