MDawgs "explanation" was clueless (that I'm bringing in millions of people to sign up for new members freeplay ad infinitum)
When it comes to using Freeplay on other people's players cards MDawg does not understand how it works.
I know he is smart enough to understand if someone explained it to him but of course no AP is going to.
I'm this case the short reply may be what led to personal insult. It leaves the reader with the option of attributing the "clueless" to the poster vs. the posted explanation.

Like most people on this site he is very intelligent. He is very quick-witted, and seems to have a great sense of humor and an interesting personal history in the gambling business which give him some good insights, He has told some stories about himself that reveal that he can be kind-hearted and compassionate towards people.
And here's the crazy thing:
- I grew up in Queens -so did billryan
- I grew up with a deep passion for comic books and baseball (a NY Mets fan). So did billryan, although he seems to be more of a Yankees fan. I still own 13,000 comic books and Bill has mentioned that, for many years, he owned one or more comic book stores.
- From the first time I saw the astonishing dioramas in the NY Museum of National History, I have had a love for dioramas and miniatures and scenes of miniatures. Bill has posted that he loves dioramas, particularly military scenes.
But despite having all that in common, billryan acts like he is my adversary. He seems to comment on almost every non-math post I make in the forum in an adversarial way. Yes, we've had different life experiences which have shaped in us different political values - but I've been noticing that bill has been "adversarial" to a fair number of forum members, some with political views that are similar to Bill's.
My bottom line: bill seems like a high quality person and I'm sorry we got off on the wrong foot. I hope he stays safe and healthy and that the future will be better than the present and the past.

I think if suspensions are increasing, it's more due to the expansion of reasons for a suspension. I am sure that I could list a number of words or phrases that would have passed muster even not so long ago, but now in our "woke" culture are no longer acceptable. Words that we all use in daily conversation are now taboo in "polite" society. We have so many words now that can only be referenced by letter: N-word; C-word; S-word; F-word; B-word; that, to paraphrase sheriff Browdy, "We're gonna need a bigger alphabet!". I wonder if it will degenerate here such that we know that we cannot say "You are an idiot" but we CAN say "you are an I-word."
"Political" is so all-encompassing HERE that I'm not sure if what I am saying in this post will be okay. Not to mention the narrow, singular judgement of just one person who seems to be the prosecutor, judge and jury of suspensions. It's his board, so his is the absolute and appropriate perspective, but perfectly reasonable people can and do disagree. Too bad. There is no appeal, and I am sure that a more intense review of suspensions than I am willing to undertake would show an arbitrary and inconsistent standard. Without remembering the specifics, I can recall several suspensions, and non-suspensions, that made no consistent sense. If Mike is having a bad day, so are you going to have one if you step out of line.
Justice Scalia was famous for beginning many of his jousts with the litigants in a free speech or libel case with "So, sticks and stones will break my bones but names will never hurt me, right?" This is the rule that I apply whenever I read written words.
Consider this. The Falls Church, Virginia school board has - UNANIMOUSLY - decided to remove the names of Thomas Jefferson and George Mason from two of their schools because "our schools must be places where all students, staff and community members feel safe, supported and inspired."
I wonder how long it will be before even MENTIONING the name of Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, or Abraham Lincoln will earn a poster here a suspension?

That is the point of being suspended. You don't get to post again. Breaking the rules isn't helping your chances.

Nathan I believe you're addressing and talking to the wrong person on this issue. Sure, he has the final decision, but it seems to me like decision will remain the same until you can convince Barbara.
If I recall correctly you mentioned somewhere that the only reason why you apologized was so you could get back on and regretted the apology therefor your apology wasn't sincere or genuine in the least bit. The only thing you're actually sorry for was the fact that you messed up and it got you permanently banned. I don't think you have any actual remorse for what you said to her. I would agree, she gave you a rough time, however, it was rightfully so considering the fact that you had so many chances and given so much leeway as it was, she had to keep you in check or things or would have just be totally absurd.
I hope he reconsiders. I will definitely miss his contributions to the forum.
If he actually sticks to his resolve this time I will be impressed.

Garbage troll posts drive traffic. We lose quality members because of the garbage members that complain nonstop, it’s been a problem for years sadly.

By valuable members I mean regulars who contribute good content to the forum.
It becomes trolling when the intention of a post is to cause disruption in the forum. See the two most active threads in the forum if you want an example. I would wager that at least 90% of the bans on this forum come from the a small handful of similar threads created by trolls who are only here to stir the pot.
I have also taken your advice and spend very little time on this forum compared to 2017/2018.

When I first moved to Vegas and came on these boards, a number of regulars helped me out tremendously. I was turned on to many small promotions that while not worth their time, were valuable to me. Max Pen threw a trump victory dinner and was nice enough to invite a relative newcomer who was his complete political opposition to it. There I met a number of posters including Axel and Mr. Wizard. On several occasions, when I thought I found something worth exploiting they were kind enough to show where I was mistaken. That was four years ago, and except for the two I mentioned, I don't think any of the other twenty or so forum members who attended are still members. Thankfully, they have been replaced by super hi-rollers who never lose and the worlds best-unpublished game designer. It's the circle of life.
