Quote: AxelWolfO'REALLY! Then why where so many people ask to take down their avatars? Where was the freedom of speech movement then?
Edit to add: For the most part, I don't think anybody should have to take down their avatars. I hadn't seen any that were offencive. But now that we went down that road, let's make it fair to everyone and start voting on all the avatars.
I agree with you that I don’t think any of the avatars should have came down. I viewed the last round of avatar removal as those in conflict with the ban on political discourse. I view this evenbob avatar dust up as going farther towards some general level of offense that none of the moderators that weighed in share. In fact both Mike and OnceDear posted that they didn’t think EvenBob’s avatar violated any rules.
Just moving farther down the slippery slope . . .
And the person that complained about MaxPen's Avatar just doesn't like MaxPen, or they just want to be a troublemaker.Quote: onenickelmiracleThis is a good point, some people are just voting this way because they're offended by Evenbob and not the butt. It's not even supposed to be considered to be a real vote. We can test it by having votes on every person's avatar posting. I'm kind of offended by the lewd act your avatar has of a man grinding his body on a cello. It's sick, just sick.
I'd like Bob, this place wouldn't be the same without him. My vote had nothing to do with Bob whatsoever.
What makes you think I was implying pride?Quote: AZDuffmanMotivation to be offended is not something to be proud of.
For the record, I voted I was okay with the avatar

What if I post up an avatar of something that looks like female genitalia, but in reality it's just a close-up of a different non offensive body part?
What if Max posted up an avatar of somebody that looks exactly like Putin, but it isn't?

Fair. I guess the mods might determine it breaks that rule.

The ladies at the Girls meet the internet FB page have done something similar to what you've suggested.

But in response to your last post that’s not how all votes work. Ask the Senate.

What's funny is I'm part Indian, but I've been buying the butter for years. It's the people that aren't Indian that are offended.

It always is. They pulled Speedy Gonzolez cartoons in IIRC the late 90s because they did not want to "offend Mexicans." Meanwhile the Mexicans actually loved him. They were extra popular in Mexico itself.

Jewish people tell highly anti-Semitic jokes about their culture.
The rule is generally we can joke about the stupidity of Judaism, but that's not an option for everyone else. We can laugh at ourselves. The rest of you are anti-Semitic.
You are just saying that is true for all people about themselves (as I pretty much knew). I wonder why you didn't know that?

No, I am saying certain white people like to get offended for everyone else on their behalf because their own lives are so comfortable they need to find something to be upset about. Usually the "offended" group mostly does not care.

So you are offended that people try to avoid stereotypes of others?
Quote: darkozSo you are offended that people try to avoid stereotypes of others?
No, I am just sick of people who are offended at the drop of a hat. Even worse are people who get offended for a group to which they do not belong. They need a life.
Speaking up stereotypes, regarding my theory that black people do not take this virus as serious as others. I took a snapshot today of a group of six individuals practically huddling together well hanging out outside an apartment complex as if it was nothing. Do I have to mention they were not wearing masks? If I can ever figure out how to post pictures here....Quote: darkozSo you are offended that people try to avoid stereotypes of others?
I noticed the same stuff going on at Walmart, Sam's Club and various other places, yet again.

Black peoples on the east coast seem to be taking it seriously. I feel like I’ve seen more black people masks wearing face masks in public than white people.
I think this is a very local stereotype, but around here you will often see black people at restaurants order a cup of hot water to rinse their utensils in before eating.
I think I mentioned before that it might be a regional thing as well.Quote: gamerfreakBlack peoples on the east coast seem to be taking it seriously. I feel like I’ve seen more black people masks wearing face masks in public than white people.

Now that you mention it that seems correct, More Black women than men. One at the office was wearing a mask one day back in January. She only wore it a day or two. I find in general Black women do not like "risk." Black men not as worried.

I agree with what he said in that video. He even had Ann Coulter smiling and laughing. However, there was a dig at Trump in there and his whole show is very political.
I recommend to the forum if you agree with what somebody else says about something, don't just throw out a link, but restate their opinion in your own words.

I can't judge how blacks are handling this as I rarely see any in Bisbee, but everyday I observe groups of white people mingling together. My shop is directly across from a Dairy Queen that is now drive thru only, but that doesn't stop people from getting out of their car and eating by the picnic tables. It seems to have become the place to hang out since the town shut down the village green.
The clubhouse at my campground still has its daily card games and with all the bars in the county closed its business has actually stepped up a bit.
One thing I've noticed is almost all the protesters this week were white. That's probably not the only thing they had in common but that's for another forum.

It is, I will say bring it to DT lest I get thrown in solitary for 3 to 7 days.
So, I think its odd that Darkoz keeps insisting that Evenbob's avatar should be removed because of a poll result.
IMO, political animus has become personal animus and personal animus is the driving force behind this avatar discussion.

I’ll be offended it EB is forced to remove the avatar at this point.

Those voting choices were just jokes in a thread having nothing to do with EB's avatar. They were never meant to decide the matter.
If you did that, it would depend on context, but I might not send you any longer.
Like I wrote in another post, if this is what people are upset about in April 2020, then I am happy for them.
That's exactly what you should have said to the person who complained about Max's Avatar, and for that matter, anyone who's ever complained about someone else's Avatar that wasn't x-rated or significantly/obviously offensive.Quote: Wizard

For me, and probably some others.... this this isn't really about Bob's Avatar. It's about the other people that were forced to take theirs down. There's 21 people offended by Bob's Avatar, so let's be fair and have him take his down. Do you think there's 21 people that were offended by the Putin Avatar? I don't see how a rainbow flag isn't political(?)
I asked before, does it matter what the actual Avatar is or does it matter what it represents? Would a doppelganger Avatar of Putin be against the rules?
