No. You don't have to. But if you expect to be taken seriously and you start out by saying you are one gender then change later to the other gender then your credibility is certainly in question.
Although a certain poster has made silly claims about your 'lawyerliness' to the mainstream forum members here your credibility has not been called into question, and we accept you as a lawyer with specific expertise on divorce issues. If you had joined the forum and said at first you were an engineer and when someone asked you about it months into your tenure here and you said you were really a lawyer then there would likely be skeptics. Or at least a distrust.
What???? We're only supposed to have studied one field and worked in one field for our entire careers?Quote: SOOPOOIf you had joined the forum and said at first you were an engineer and when someone asked you about it months into your tenure here and you said you were really a lawyer then there would likely be skeptics. Come on Doc...! You get my point. If you start here by lying how does someone tell when the lying stops and the truth telling starts?
Of course. I just forgot to post the smiley after my typical smart-aleck comment. ;-)Quote: SOOPOOYou get my point.
Edit: BTW, I do know a few engineers who later became lawyers. It can/does happen. At least two of them went into patent law, which makes some sense, but I don't remember the specializations of the others.

You thought it would be 5-5?
Or you just were looking to create an issue that divided people here. Let’s face it, you like controversy where ever you post. And you have admitted you like the drama and play both sides to keep it going.
And you walk a fine line to avoid being held accountable for it, which I respect. You play the game you enjoy with the best (or worst) of them.
Like a lawyer who shows up at car crashes, you do the exact opposite here. You try to create them then walk away. One pays the bills, the other creates excitement.
Not judging, just putting facts out there for the jury to decide.
Very funny when it backfires, much like dunking right over top of a guy with a big mouth.Quote: BozYou thought it would be 5-5?

I don't understand many of the posts in that thread. If we were a democracy, we could have death cage matches? A system with direct determination by popular vote would somehow be communism?

I wondered whether people felt strongly enough about it to make a bonafide issue over it.
As for me loving controversy: you bet.
Controversy is stimulating.
Controversy can lead to new ideas.
Controversy can rile up the emotions.
Nothing wrong with that.
FWIW I eschew "drama" at home with my wife and family; that would cut too close to the bone and be a royal PITA.
Quote: rdw4potusI don't understand many of the posts in that thread. If we were a democracy, we could have death cage matches? A system with direct determination by popular vote would somehow be communism?
I believe the logic is tied in with "mob rule" -- majority of people have an income less than the mean, so they vote for stuff that favors them and screws over the rich. You can see this kind of already happening, with a bunch* of people (for who the hell knows why) are supporting a "universal basic income".
*I don't know how many actually support this, but I've seen some people on facebook, other forums, and other social media where people are saying how great a UBI would be. <disgusting.jpg>

People who incite controversy on forums
just for the sake of controversy are often
called by other names, and banned. You did
the same thing on GG, you were always
stirring the pot and then laughing about

No. Mr. Vs "proposal" had certain similar aspects to a cage match. "Only one survives", etc. I was being sarcastic because it was annoying as a proposal, and more annoying to have to close the thread, because it was only going to lead to people being upset.

Keep that stuff to the crap forums, would ya please? We don't need it. You know better, which is of course why you did it.
My 1yo dog stole a pan of fresh-baked banana bread off the counter and dumped it on the floor today, got a couple bites torn off before I caught him. Guess which of the two of you are higher on my s!#/ list. Hard to beat that from the dog, but you won.

Were there nuts in the bread? If not then the dog did you favor.
It will probably be necessary when there is 1 job for every 100 people, etc. Would kind of make sense before then for there to be some kind of new Hitler that just kills the 99 with 1 click. UBI is the latest liberal dream. On one hand, there is one thing about it that I like. Under the "pure" proposal, all other welfare programs would end. No more welfare, food stamps, WIC, Section-8, et al. GONE! Use it on silly stuff if you want, you just don't eat then. But I know reality. Sooner or later, reality is "sooner" there would be a liberal saying UBI is "not enough" and we need food stamps back, or child care for single moms, or whatever came to mind.
Look for Bernie to push it in 2020. Look for Hillary to follow with a "lite" version. The Democrat Party is in a far-left cycle so expect every version imaginable. Look for college students to love it, but want free tuition to go with it (really crazy!)
Ending now to avoid hijacking.

Quote: NathanI'll admit, many times I don't think some of my threads through before pressing "Post," which is why they come across as weird. For example, I started a post called,"Favorite Posters?" On another website that got me permanently banned and was deleted less than an hour later. When I started the thread, my goal was for it to be a praise thread, but in hindsight, I thought,"You do realize that this thread didn't come across as a praise thread but more like you are trying to get people to alienate each other, right? Eventually a poster let's say VegasLovesMe could have written something like Slot Lover is my favorite poster and then Natty Natt 25 would have said something like,"I stood up for you and defended you when most of the Forum really sunk their claws into you while Slot Lover did nothing to help you! Shouldn't I be your favorite poster? How could you say Slot Lover is your favorite poster? You scumbag." No wonder it was quickly deleted.
Quote: AxelWolf
Axel, LOL, but even I admitted a "Favorite Posters,? " Thread was just plain weird .I just wish that I got a warning before being permanently banned on that website. A simple PM saying something like,"I have deleted your "Favorite Posters' thread. We don't tolerate threads like that that could invite hostility soon. This is your one and only warning. " I would have responded that I meant for it to be a praise thread but could see how it could soon turn into trouble and thank them for giving me a fair warning.

On the other website I got banned on it has been reported that they ban people at the drop of a hat(Did I get that saying right?) and people who are active posters one day get permanently banned suddenly the next day. So no voting. :/

Some might like it if you mentioned the name of that site and the name you posted under before you were banned so that your history of posting there could be examined in order to try and end speculation as to whether you are in fact what you portray yourself to be.
Me, I wouldn't waste my time exploring it, but I'm certain that some would.

I would love to but I am waiting for the green light from an Admin to do so. ;)
You don't need a green light from a Mod to mention what site you used to post at. They don't want people linking to other sites with the intention of spamming or linking to other sites/posts of previously banned members.Quote: NathanI would love to but I am waiting for the green light from an Admin to do so. ;)

Long before Nathan, we have strongly discouraged people bringing stuff over from other forums. Some forum where she got canned, sending people there to review her body of work for clues about her seems a bit, uh, self-destructive.
So, no, I'm not green lighting it. If she wants to say where she was or whatever, I want no part of it.

Nope, I never posted a "Favorite Posters?" Thread on here. I learned my lesson not to start threads like that anymore after being permanently banned once for doing that.
Where were you banned for doing that?

Nope, not going to fall for that. Babs implied doing so just might be a bad idea.
