Large Images and Page Formatting

The large image causes all the text on the page to extend to the right off of the screen. Browsers Firefox 3.5.6 and IE 7. I suppose a larger / higher resolution display would work, but I think the text still would spill off of the designated background.
I just wanted to make a note of this odd behavior. This is not a huge issue here on WOV because we aren't that image intensive.

I created an image and uploaded it into wikimedia. To reference it in this forum I used the "img" function. I don't know how to size it so it doesn't distort the entire page. I need administrative help.
