I'm still not understanding this. All the
myriad of threads that deal with TV
shows, climate change, how hot is
it today, unicycles, movies, Bitcoin,
on and on. It's still OK to post in
those threads because they aren't
political or religious?

I see it as SCOUTS "I know it when I see it" standard. I can deal with that.

I had a foolproof horse racing system, at least, after the fact. The only race I have ever bet in my life was profitable and I decided never to bet on a horse race again. It's the greatest system ever and I will die a winner. More than that, anyone claiming to be a handicapper who even attempts to boast of the profit margin I have over the course of my lifetime betting would be laughed out of anywhere.

The main problem with "systems" in horse racing is that you are up against the parimutuel system. An idea might actually show a profit, until prices get forced down by success.

My belief is that "body language" will always be profitable, given the nature of people they will never study this field enough to take the profitability out of it. (is profitability a word?) Most players go straight to the Racing Form, then to the beer lines. I spend most of my time in the paddock/walking ring. It's like "tells" in poker, studying tells will never get old.

????
Going to the hospital is the biggest gamble we take in our lifetime
May the odds be in your favor DRICH

Personal insult directed at me! Often patients ask me how dangerous a certain anesthetic/procedure is. I often tell them.... Not as dangerous as letting your husband drive you home after!

Im interested in DRs experience. Im sure we will be regaled!

There must be 2 EBs out there
EB goes over the DT to start a Gay thread
Then EB blocks the thread

Nobody there wants to talk about
that, so I blocked. I also didn't like
a new member taking my post
from WoV, I didn't trust it.

Here I thought it was the Epstein Thread that prompted this New Rule. Now that I've read more about this I guess it was a bunch of different threads that pushed it over the edge. I didn't even know there was a Gay Thread, guess I missed that one. I can't imagine. lol And I really don't have an urge to go find it. Maybe on a rainy day.

I don't get it, this went over my head. Soopoo, are you a doctor or something like that?

Yea, something like that, but more importantly a good dude overall.

And the world needs more SooPoos.

Sadly this site will have less moving forward.

No doubt this rule will result in a changeover of the current majority posters.

As a result, new viewers of the site will likely find what that they were looking for when they clicked the search link...I can't imagine what goes through the mind of a new visitor that clicks the link at the bottom of the WoO site and ends up seeing the cesspool that is Recent Threads. Those new visitors certainly won't stay/join as new members if they are interested in gambling.

I would broaden the Forum Topics to include threads like SooPoo's Portfolio thread...basically topics involving money and risk which certainly investing & gambling have in common. Look at how many Wall St. guys play poker! I was going to start a thread on NHL Futures, but decided why bother as the thread would get buried instantly by the onslaught of new political threads and get no responses...and I know, no one likes the NHL anyway except for PokerGrinder (Go Jets Go...and what happened to Helle last season?) plus a few other members that slip my mind right now.

Some old gambling-centric posters will return and/or post more of what is happening in the gaming world both from an innovation and current events standpoint. I certainly don't post here much anymore because the majority of the posters here don't care about gambling topics (and I know plenty of others in the innovation world that feel the same).

Wiz, simultaneously with banning political topics here, close down DT and start up WizardofPolitics.com site. Charge a $2/month subscription price. You'd make money and the portion of Wov that likes the political discussion along with the DT only members may jump over there because they like the current political community/banter and are familiar with the website set up. Give these members what they want & charge them for it because advertisers likely won't be that interested in paying to be there. You could force members to internally confidentially disclose (e.g. no other member sees the disclosure) their political leaning upon sign up and if enough of both sides of the political spectrum vote a member off the island as abusive, that member gets banned. You could even pay a moderator with a portion of the subscription dollhairs. $0.07/day is a small price to pay if the alternative is to quit their daily posting addiction...I'd expect a high conversion rate to the modest subscription price model.

It will be a long transition Wiz, but it is time to take back control of what this Forum was intended to be...and maybe you create an even better place for the political posters to have their own site and make some money for providing the experience.

I will post more and probably even create topics now that I don't have to wade through dozens of frivolous topics that have nothing to do with why i joined here 10 years ago. It turned into a cesspool of non gambling related posts that should be discussed at DT or another site.

I am an anesthesiologist. So I was just defending my profession! Anesthesia is SO much safer now than when I started practicing, our malpractice rates are WAY lower than they used to be. 30 years ago it was $20k a year, now it's around $10k a year. Figure in inflation and rates are maybe 1/5 what they were.
