23. (Arkansas) Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones’ hospitality company Legends is facing delays from legal challenges and community setbacks in its bid to build a $225 million licensed casino in Arkansas in partnership with Cherokee Nation Businesses.

24. (Indiana) Horseshoe Southern Indiana is saying goodbye to the boat. After more than 20 years on the Ohio River, the casino is moving to a new facility on dry land. So Caesars Entertainment is throwing a Bon Voyage Party for the riverboat on Saturday, Nov. 30.

25. (Illinois) An Illinois legislator says the state’s new gambling expansion bill needs to be cleaned up. The state’s recent gambling expansion authorized the construction of six new casinos and legalized practices like sports gambling.

26. (Oklahoma) Two Indian gaming experts say recent action by the Oklahoma Horse Racing Commission bolsters the position of the tribes that their gaming compacts with the state will automatically renew. Gov. Kevin Stitt earlier this year said the gaming compacts need to be renegotiated. He believes the state should receive a higher share.

27. (Las Vegas) Officials in Las Vegas say September marked the seventh time since January that McCarran International Airport handled more than 4 million passengers in one month. The Clark County Department of Aviation reported Wednesday the 4.3 million people arriving and departing from the airport in September was up 6.8% from the same month a year ago.

23. (New York) Amid financial struggles across Upstate New York’s non-Indian gambling industry, the Oneida Indian Nation announced today it will expand one of its three casinos in Central New York. Point Place Casino in Bridgeport, Madison County, will increase the size of its gaming floor and add 100 slot machines, bringing the total to 600.

24. (New York) Motorists could be facing in tolls on the state thruway after 2020, there’s no end in sight to the continuing dispute between the state of New York and the Seneca Nation of Indians over the payment of casino revenue sharing and folks living in the 27th Congressional District probably won’t pick an interim successor to Chris Collins before April.

25. (Massachusetts) Gaming regulators want to know the exact status of federal litigation around the Mashpee Wampanoag tribe’s quest to secure land in trust before making a decision about moving ahead with the state’s third casino license, though Gaming Commission members appeared in no rush Thursday to begin accepting applications for a southeastern Massachusetts casino.

26. (Virginia) A petition drive seeking to reverse the Norfolk City Council’s approval of a land deal for a waterfront casino resort fell short Thursday, with backers failing to gather enough signatures to put the issue before the city’s voters.

27. (West Virginia) Despite a slow start, mobile sports betting revenue in West Virginia has continued to grow. The Charleston Gazette-Mail reports that the West Virginia Lottery Commission announced Wednesday that the apps’ revenue topped $1 million last month. The apps produced about $25,000 in revenue during their launch week at the end of August. Lottery Director John Myers says growth has been consistent as the apps continue to mature.

28. (Florida) It looks like a rock ‘n’ roll guitar that Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page would have played. But this one is 450 feet (137 meters) tall and is a light-beam hotel that the Seminole Tribe wants to become South Florida’s latest tourist destination. The Guitar Hotel had its grand opening Thursday on the tribe’s land in Hollywood, once only a trailer park and some smoke shops.

29. (North Carolina) The New Bern Police really hit the spot Thursday morning. Literally. The Spot, located in the plaza at the intersection of Red Robin Lane and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, is one of nearly 40 illegal gaming businesses estimated to be in Craven County – 22 of those located in New Bern, alone.

30. (Illinois) More than four dozen investors, many of whom are business and civic leaders in the region, have a stake in the proposed Hard Rock Casino Rockford. There are 53 people or entities that have invested and secured a piece of ownership in 815 Entertainment LLC, a company established to unite Hard Rock International with local investors.

31. (Las Vegas) Nevada-based Full House Resorts has partnered with Wynn Resorts International to expand its sports betting offerings. The casino operator, which runs five casinos in four states, announced last week that it had entered into two agreements with WSI US LLC, a wholly-owned Wynn subsidiary that focuses on interactive gaming and sports wagering.

21. (Connecticut) Voters in East Windsor overwhelmingly defeated plans related to the money that would be paid by a potential new casino in town. “I’m excited. I think the voters in East Windsor have sent a pretty clear signal that they want people putting forward ideas that benefit the community in a more thoughtful way,” said Selectman Jason Bowsza, a Democrat who is running for first selectman.

24. (Nevada) In the 1980s, Michael Milken embodied Wall Street greed. A swashbuckling financier, he was charged with playing a central role in a vast insider-trading scheme and was sent to prison for violating federal securities and tax laws. 22. (National) Google has updated it policies to allow five states to advertise gambling after sports betting was legalized in each of them. Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Montana, Iowa and Indiana are the states in question as they followed New Jersey, Nevada and West Virginia in legalizing sports betting.

23. (New Jersey) The Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992 would've turned 27 today. Signed into law by President George H.W. Bush on Oct. 28, 1992, PASPA restricted regulated sports betting to primarily Nevada for 26 years. PASPA isn't with us anymore. The U.S. Supreme Court deemed it unconstitutional in May 2018, setting off a bookmaking land rush around the nation.

24. (Atlantic City) For the second time this year, the owner of the Showboat Hotel has applied for a subdivision of the larger lots under the former casino. Showboat Renaissance LLC, owned by Philadelphia-based developer Bart Blatstein, submitted an application seeking major subdivision approval from the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority on Oct. 25.

25. (Michigan) A key state House committee chairman plans to push for the legalization of online gaming and sports betting in Michigan after negotiating higher-than-proposed tax rates and other issues with vendors, operators and sports leagues.

BetMGM Lands sports betting deal with Yahoo Sports.

*** MGM Resorts and GVC Holdings’ Roar Digital joint venture has agreed a deal to power sports betting for Verizon Media-owned media platform Yahoo Sports.

Under the multi-year partnership, Yahoo Sports will launch real-money sports betting on its app in regulated US states next month, with all transactions to take place on the BetMGM online sports betting and gaming app.

It comes after Roar Digital launched its BetMGM in New Jersey last month.
BetMGM, which replaced the PlayMGM app that was introduced in the state by MGM in 2017, is powered by GVC’s sportsbook platform and also includes the Casino and Poker Games previously offered through PlayMGM.

(Las Vegas) A woman accused of driving a motor home into a North Las Vegas casino, critically injuring an employee, said she did it because she was owed money and had been trespassed from the property, according to an arrest report. Jennifer Stitt, 50, remained jailed today on a count of attempted murder at the Las Vegas city jail, records show. Bail was set at $100,000.

25. (Las Vegas) UNLV and Caesars Entertainment Corp.’s soon-to-open Black Fire Innovation research and technology hub has caught the eye of technology giant Intel. Caesars announced Intel as a new partner for the facility, set to open in January. The California-based company will provide technology and computing resources, along with research and internship opportunities for students and other partners, according to a Tuesday morning press release from Caesars.

23. (New York) The state Gaming Commission is in the process of considering firms interested in conducting a comprehensive review of gambling in New York. Proposals from interested parties were due two weeks ago, with the project scheduled to start on Dec. 1 and produce an initial draft by April 1.

(Pennsylvania) Philadelphia’s Stadium Casino is more than a year away from opening its doors to the public, but it may be taking bets long before the paint is dry in the new virtual world of online gaming. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board on Wednesday granted a sports-betting certificate to Stadium Casino LLC, which allows it to begin accepting sports wagers online in the next few months.

25. (Michigan) Sports betting and online gambling would become legal at Michigan casinos under legislation approved Wednesday by the House, though Gov. Gretchen Whitmer continues to have concerns that the expansion could syphon revenue from the state’s iLottery. The main measures in the 10-bill package passed on 63-45 and 62-44 votes, with many Republicans and some Democrats in support. The legislation, which also would regulate the fast-growing paid fantasy sports industry, was sent to the GOP-led Senate for future consideration.

26. (Nebraska) Touch screen games have been popping up in bars, gas stations and over businesses across Nebraska. The machines have now caught the attention of the Hall County Board of Supervisors.

27. (Las Vegas) Parking at Las Vegas’ McCarran International Airport could cost passengers a little more starting next year. The Department of Aviation will look for county commission approval next week to increase fees at McCarran’s parking garages by varying amounts.

28. (California) Harrah’s Resort Southern California closed to guests and employees Wednesday, Oct. 30, due to high winds and mandatory power outages in the area. The Valley Center resort announced the closure via social media and in a statement. “The safety and security of our guests and teammates is our highest priority,” part of the statement said.

29. (California) The groundbreaking for the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians new downtown Cathedral City casino is set for Monday. The tribe is inviting the public for the ceremony, which will take place at the corner of East Palm Canyon Drive and Date Palm Drive. Event entrances will be located on First Street and Buddy Rogers Avenue.
