THe hotel reviews on the site are a bit dated, in my opinion so fresh imput would be appreciated. Price doesn't matter since the rooms will be comped. Probably the suites too.
I'd also be willing to stay at a Strip property and not leave, thus avoiding the walking. However, Ii don't think my paltry 20K line of credit would mean anything to them.
Gracias for all answers.
I had some decent comp offers for the whole year since, too, with only a couple days play.

you can always ask them.
Quote: beachbumbabsI think the 4 Queens is underrated. I had an outdated but very comfortable suite there last year. Nice amenities, wet bar, large tv, very comfortable furniture, good bathroom, short hallways, elevator goes up from the casino floor.

I'll second that. Other perks are that I believe it is the only hotel downtown that doesn't have a resort fee, and if you are a guest there is no parking fee either.
It aint the Nugget, but it aint Nugget prices either.

Yeah. Most are over 5 years old which is like 20 in Vegas years. For example, user "teddys" wrote a couple of good reviews 7-8 years ago.
One was for the Hacienda except it's now called the Hoover Dam Lodge and it's owned by Dotty's so all the table games are gone including the good single deck bj teddys mentions. Another was for the Eastside Cannery which was reviewed as having a party atmosphere. Now, however, it's owned by Boyd Gaming who seems to have no clue what to do with it. When I visited earlier this year the casino was barebones with a mausoleum kind of vibe.
I'm not complaining. A good, thorough review takes a lot of work (plus money) and it's easy for me to simply sit in California and call for updates to make my next trip easier.
Anyways, if you're not married to the idea of downtown, the Wizard thinks South Point is currently the best deal in town in terms of gaming and amenities. I hope to go there soon.
Quote: MaxPenDowntown Grand has nice rooms and a quieter atmosphere. Plus it's the cleanest place downtown. One block to chaos if that's what your looking for.
I've only stayed at the nugget and the grand, I think.
However, I was also satisfied with The Grand. This was a long time ago, but iirc I was not thrilled with a meal in their cafe. However, it is very close to pizza rock, which is perhaps the best pizza in Vegas and The Triple George, which I think is a really cool place. A bit more upscale.
Only bad thing is it is also close to some place called Hogs and Heffers, which brings in the 50 year olds playing vroom vroom in their little costumes.

You know how old men like to remember the "good old days". I know, it's annoying. But I'm going to say a couple things about Hacienda anyway.
First of all, they had full pay Joker all over the casino. They even had a couple machines with the 101% table. And like FOREVER they had a multiplier promo, Monday and Wednesday was 2X, and Tuesday was 4X. Cashback was 1/4%. No exclusions. So on Tuesday you could play full pay Joker at 4X .25.
They had card-of-the-day promos. And you could earn 500 points, (easy), and get free dinner buffet.
And one more thing. Screw Dotty's.
The Grand is nice if you want to have a quieter place of respite to sleep and recover...and I agree on Pizza Rock, it is on my must do list every trip to Vegas. Le Thai also makes that list
Quote: ParadigmI prefer The D downtown...sure it's loud but I think it has the best energy of the downtown casinos. The Suites along the private hallway off the floor elevator lobbies are pretty nice. There is a chance based on room location at The D that you will hear the concerts from the Fremont Street weekend concerts stages below.

The last time I was in Vegas we were with another couple and they stayed at The D. The place was so loud that I couldn't hear the stickman call the roll even though I was right next to him. It got quieter when I went back to the FSE. Also, they had a very odd elevator set-up.
There's been a few recommendations on my thread for the Downtown Grand. I've checked it out a few times on YouTube and it always seems deserted. Is that just a few videos or is the place really that empty? Any thoughts from people who have been there would also be appreciated. Thanks.

I visited SP last time I was in Vegas, and dropped a couple K there in an afternoon and was hoping to get some free room offers for future trips. I've gotten absolutely nothing from them. Very surprised.

I just stayed at the Downtown Grand and can confirm it seems much cleaner than other downtown spots. The casino floor was surprisingly quiet. Machines are spread out and it feels more wide open than other joints. Maybe this gives the feel of being dead. It felt dead, which I didn’t particularly mind, but understand some might. I liked coming back to the quiet and cleanliness.
My room was loud at night — lots of noise from the Fremont stages, although that could be the case for any place. I’m not sure; it could be where I was placed. My only real complaint is that I never was able to access WiFi. I couldn’t even access a log in page. It was less painful to just use a personal hotspot from my phone. They do have a free shuttle to the strip that runs frequently.

Same here. Zip zero nada mail 6 months later. Oh, well.

Well well well. They must have heard us... because I got a mailer today for the fourth quarter. These benefits are good for each month of the quarter.
1. 2 free room nights with an upgrade to a newly remodeled room each month
2. $20 in slot credit (I didn't gamble that much, so not surprised that it's low) each month
3. $20 in resort credits each month
4. 2 free "Nitelife" showroom entries each month (worth approximately $0 for me)
5. 25% off Spa and Salon services
6. Free entry to Fitness Center
7. Free Funbook (whatever that is)

That's very surprising My intro to SP was when I stayed at the time share next door. Did 300 points for the free buffet promo and got offers , some I couldn't refuse.

I concur with the above for DG, I have stayed there a couple of times and gambled there probably 10+ times. Always a dead floor, I can't believe they are expanding as when I am there, it is always slow.
You just have to decide what you want: A loud, energy filled floor with dancing dealers & a stickman you can't hear or a quiet place to come back to when the evening is done and you have had enough?
The elevators are a bit strange, but you get used to them.
Quote: AyecarumbaHow about the Hotel Apache at Binion's?
I think they pulled furniture out of storage and dusted it off. Actually cleaned the rooms(for now) and maybe some paint touchups. They're trying to pass it off as a retro experience. Heard that it is awful. Have not personally experienced or even seen though. This is 3rd party info.
