Back during my Vegas trip, I also stayed at the MGM Signature Resort. This represents the 3 hotel / timeshare / apartment suite complex, which is behind the MGM Grand property. It is connected by an underpass. Each complex has their own pool area which is about a decent sized swimming area. There is a mature crowd here, but it is also family oriented as well. Dining options did not impress at the pool area.

Sorry forgot to take pics, but what I can say is that I enjoyed the bathroom here more than the Vdara. In fact, I enjoyed the entire suite which was HUGE!!!!. I had a balcony view of the strip from the side. The room was very comfortable, though lacking in a mini-bar. Living area was large and the couch expanded into a fold-out bed. Artwork decor was tasteful. Bed was also super-comfortable. Free wifi access is a plus.

There is a bar area across the Starbucks in the hotel. Dining options once again are limited.

It is a long walk to the MGM Grand, but there are moving escalators to help reduce your walk time. The hotel is non-smoking I believe. Staff were really friendly. It is a private area. So plenty of security. The Signature is part of a gated complex area. Enjoyed the fitness room a lot. Good amenities like free apples and bottled water.

Overall, I would recommend staying at the Signature. it is close to the forum shops near I believe the Venetian? That's just right across the street. I have walked it from the Strip, and it is a bit far. But hey, no one expects to stay in their hotel room for their Vegas trip.

Do you mind giving me an idea of the nightly rate and
how many bedrooms ?

So far, after many years of going to LV, our favorite
place to stay is the Planet Hollywood Towers. The
1 br king bed suite is fantastic. And good deals
are available from time to time at BOOKIT.com.

ps:

We stayed in the PH towers for about $ 100 a night
including tax last year in the 1 br suite ( not studio )
but that was in the middle of the summer, so maybe
not a peak time.

I have also seen many very favorable reviews of
Trump Towers on line, and the rates there approach
the affordable range on BOOKIT.com as well.

Rates vary wildly. ~120-200 per night + resort fee. They are all large one bed rooms unless you're opting for the penthouse. A suite alcove will have two bedrooms. So room 1 and room 2. My group took the entire alcove.

The rooms are huge. Imagine walking in, to the left is a giant bathroom with full stand-in shower and jacuzzi and segregated toilet with door for privacy. Walking past a large queen sized bed. Past a kitchen and then into the living room area. And finally the balcony. The room is bigger than some apartments. It's probably comparable to Vdara or Wynn in size. I just liked the layout better.

Never been to the Planet Hollywood Towers. What's the 411 on it?

AWMcD:

I assume it started out as a high priced time share
place, and they have only been able to sell a fraction
of their weeks / inventory.

So, that's good for the little guy who wants to
stay in a really really nice place. We didn't use the big
fancy stainless steel appliances in the kitchen, except
the refrigerator to store soda pop and water.

The most unusual / coolest thing though was that
a screen came down over the floor to ceiling
window, so you could block out the light if you
wanted to, AND there was a projection TV
that played on that entire screen. I think that
would be nice to have during March Madness,
but otherwise was just cool to gawk at for
a bit before heading out the casino / strip.

I used to always stay at the places that offered
the lowest rates, and I still like to find a good
deal, I just spend more time now looking for
the best combination of upscale and value.

Another nice thing about PHT is that it is a
very short walk from the parking garage to
the elevators.

I stayed at MGM Sig a few years ago and really liked it aside from the long walk to the strip. There are Property Management companies that rent out privately owned MGM Sig suites as well. I don't know how their rates compare with getting directly from MGM.

I often stay at The Signature and the gym and pool, along with free Internet, make it good value. I also like to cook my own meals at times so it's ideal for that. Here are some pictures of the suite that I stay in which is the one-bedroom suite:-
