Stripped/Joker Decks

Hi forum :) Quick question

How do casinos obtain stripped decks for Spanish 21? Do they manually remove the tens or buy the decks with the tens removed? Do some casinos buy four kinds (48-card, 52-card, 53-card, and 54-card decks) to cover all games from Spanish 21 to UTH to Pai Gow Poker to Double Draw Poker?

Also, how much does a deck of cards cost a casino?

I actually have seen both kinds of decks.

No specifics, but best useful guess:

I personally pay around $3 for a pack of Bees.
While casinos do get custom printing, they probably also get volume discounts. My very best guess is that a casino is paying between $3 and $5 a pack.


From the new deck procedures I've observed, the floor supervisor brings new packs to the table, removed the cellophane overwrap, opens the tuck boxes, removes the cards from the tuck, fans through, removes ranks, jokers, and premium cards as appropriate for the game on offer, places the extra cards back in the tuck, and places the cards in the discard tray. This is repeated for each new deck brought in. The tucks are placed in a clear plastic bag, marked with the table number, time, and date, and secured either under the table, or at the supervisor's desk.

Correction!

I used to pay around $3 for a pack of Bees.
It looks like the price is now just over $4 a pack.

Cue incoherent old-timer grousing about the economy and how what this country needs is a five cent nickel.

I do hope if you're buying playing cards, you're buying by the brick (12 pack), not the deck. If you haven't looked into it, bricks are often ridiculously affordable.

I also have seen it both ways. I have also seen where the casino forgot to take the tens out of the deck. When they discovered the error all the players who were losing had their money returned. The dealer and the floor supervisor were given a written warning.
