Personally, I am looking forward to another table games exhibition. It looks like the exhibition will also cover security related products and services. Hopefully it will still get a good table games turnout.
The question for the poll is will you attend and will you be presenting a table game at the exhibition?
The price has me tempted but my less than stellar experiences trying to get my games out there has me a bit jaded, so I'm probably not attending.
On the other hand, just yesterday I booked a hotel for G2E. Cromwell for free plus $45! resort fee plus tax. Four nights, $204.08 all in. I'll probably extend my trip by staying elsewhere before or after.

It's going to be a great show! The agenda is pretty incredible.

You should have added to the poll: "I am not attending, but looking forward to Wizard's videos/interviews with the exhibitors."
Quote: mrsuit31For those attending, with games, what are you going to show?
Hi Mrsuit31, did you ever get any or do you have any installs of your game?
I always thought it was a good game

I have a few games out on the market right now. Some installs have been casualties of Covid, but other installs are in place or being put in place...
Advantage Play 3 Card Fury was just pulled out of Eagle Mountain in CA and we will be replacing it with the BJ side wager combo of Empty The Rack BJ and Break The House BJ. Covid hurt carnival/novelty game play there due to space/staffing issues and floor data dictated the need for more BJ. 3CF also just received State approval by the CA DOJ and will be getting local approval for its first CA cardroom install shortly. I have one other install pending at a CA tribal, but I am honestly not sure how quickly it will come to fruition. We had planned to submit two months ago, but we have not yet moved forward ("we" being the facility and I). Several others have been pending since the start of Covid, and I hope many move forward with our original plans soon enough (no guarantees on those just yet).
Empty The Rack Blackjack is currently live at the Strat in LV with a few other properties in the area investigating adding it to their mix as well. We were supposed to launch in LV at another property as Covid was beginning and we have still not made any plans to officially move forward. Those contracts were finalized in March of 2020. Needless to say things changes very quickly thereafter.
I have received my Tribal Vendor license from a OK tribe and, once approved by the tribe, we will be debuting my newest game "5 Card Fury" at one of their facilities in the coming months.
The BJ side wager combo was just approved in WA State and I have a call tomorrow to discus the trials for a larger group of properties in the State. News there to be announced soon.
The 31 Games (Money$uit 31, 31 Classic and Double Shot 31) are not back out on any floors at the moment, as the poker and BJ variants are really the focus at the moment (and during covid) for a few reasons.
The next few months should bring lots of install news as long as things go according to plan.
In a nutshell, that is my Covid progress report on the install front.
Quote: GialmereThere was a lengthy WoV thread on it a few years back.
Thanks. I thought it was a game as opposed to a side bet. I'll look for it my next visit there.

Thanks for sending the link Gialmere.
I hope nobody minds me dropping a link in this thread, but it is the most recently active thread in Game Inventors' Corner.
Anyway, to get an idea of the experience that most people could have (or similar) when trying to bring a new game to market, I conducted an interview with DJTeddyBear that can be found here:
https://wizardofvegas.com/articles/when-it-doesnt-work/
After ten years and over ten thousand dollars (which he considers getting off cheap) spent, his game still never made it into casinos.
MrSuit31 is also mentioned a few times in the interview, so please, MrSuit31, if there are any inaccuracies there that you want edited or any statements removed, just shoot me a PM and it will be done within 24 hours.

No worries. No need for correcting or removal.
To confirm, I personally never exhibited at G2E, only Cutting Edge (I attend G2E as often as possible).
As Dave said, I had at one point in time licensed my 31 game patents (two issued) to DEQ, who exhibited one of the variations at G2E (I can't recall which year, but think it was 2017 or 2018).
I am a lawyer, but work with family to give me freedom to pursue this on my own. With that comes significant sacrifices.
It took me several years to get my first install for the original version of Money$uit 31, I believe 5 or 6 years from the initial idea. I have been in all sorts of facilities at this point, some tiny, some huge, but point of the matter is that you will take whatever you can get when trying to introduce a new game to market. It is a very VERY tough/rough sales game on this side of things as an independent. That said, you do need to target the appropriate market for a number of complex reasons (target demographic, game approval cost, license requirement/cost, etc....).
Thanks. 👍

It sounds like you might have a great story to tell about getting your game to market as well!

Cool! Great news - for me, anyway.Quote: ParadigmThis got kicked to Feb 14-17th, 2022 based on the website post. Posted only to keep the thread current.
It would have been hard for me to attend being so close after G2E.
I may actually buy an expo ticket and go!
Now I gotta hope for no snow…
This is extraordinarily odd. Willy Allison's long standing World Game Protection Conference is scheduled for Feb 15-17th. Marcus' conference would directly compete for the same audience over the same days.Quote: ParadigmThis got kicked to Feb 14-17th, 2022 based on the website post. Still gotta hope for no snow (I live in New Jersey), but now I gotta hope for covid to settle down by then. If it were next week, with what’s been going on lately, I’d cancel…
Read ALL the material that the organizer / venue has provided. The short answer is, it's probably easiest to rent stuff right from them. And they WILL rent you a lot of the generic stuff you may need.
The paperwork should have a list of recommended suppliers for most of your booth needs. They may also have a specific set of procedures for bringing in booth materials. You'll learn a new word: 'Drayage'. That refers to the logistics of shipping, storing and bringing your show materials to the booth.
You won't be allowed to bring in anything that you can't carry by yourself. No carts or hand trucks allowed.
----
What are you showing? What booth number? I'll be sure to stop by (that is, as long as I don't get sidelined by covid or snow).
Good luck.
Quote: DJTeddyBearFrom my day job, I have experience running a small booth at large shows (think G2E size shows). This show is smaller, so some of this may not apply.

Thanks, the exhibitors packet with that paperwork should be sent out in a couple weeks, so I guess I can wait and see what they have available to rent. I was assuming it was more focused on generic things to rent (tables/chairs/etc...) as opposed to renting a blackjack table to throw my own layout on which is why I was curious if other exhibitors had experience with this aspect (whether they live within driving distance and can bring their own table, or rent from a local company they can recommend, or have to ship their own via freight...?).
I will be showing a new player vs dealer poker game. My provisional is in my lawyers hands and will be out later this week, I will start a thread once it is submitted and share the details. I will be in booth 5, look forward to seeing you there.

This exactly matches my experience with trade shows at my old day job.
We learned the hard way to use the organizer's preferred and recommended company for exhibit transport. Their trucks unload first; other trucks might get a chance to unload later.
Our exhibitors learned quickly to carry cash to get certain things done, since they weren't allowed to do some things like "plug in extension cords" without hiring an electrician. Maybe this show is different.
On the other hand, who is going? Is there any interest in a dinner meet-up?Quote: DJTeddyBearI attempted to get a meet-up going at G2E this past October. The result was 3 of us having dinner at Mirage. Good dinner and good company, but not exactly what I was hoping for. I figured that rather than try to organize something for the TGC, I'll let something come together organically at the conference.

I will be going and exhibiting two new games: PICKPOCKET POKER and FIVE CARD SPLIT. If you go to the GGPC/GTGC website and click on the Exhibition Floor Plan tab, you can find my booth #s and a brief description of the games.
It's a shame that exhibitor participation has been dampened somewhat by the continuing restrictions in place in Las Vegas because of the Governor's response to the Corona Virus. The lineup of speakers and scheduled conferences to be held is outstanding, and pricing for the conferences and exhibitor space is comparatively reasonable for this 4-day event.
Richard Marcus has done a great job organizing this event and will be happy to hear from anyone who is interested in attending and/or exhibiting.

31 booths and 21 of them appear to not be sold yet. Ouch.
And of the 10 that are sold, 3 are the second space of a double size booth. I.E. Only 7 exhibitors. Double ouch.
Then again, maybe some potential exhibitors merely haven’t made their decision yet, and/or the page isn’t up to date.

I signed up early December and the website was updated the next day, unfortunately I think it may just be a down year. I second what Lucky said about Richard Marcus doing his best to put on a good show, he has been very responsive to my questions.

In fairness we're still in a weird place in the pandemic, it's understandable and probably a good thing for a smaller show this year. I know I plan to exhibit next year and that'll only be more time for us to get ahead of COVID.
On a related thought, considering the big names that pulled out of the CES at last minute, and shortening it a day, I’m hopeful that this show still goes on as scheduled.
We’re looking at May or June.
Well, at least now I don’t have to worry about snow. 🤪Quote: emailDue to the ongoing Covid situation, I must unfortunately postpone the conference. I have been receiving cancellations and with the looming threat of US domestic flight vaccine mandates as well as the possibility that the State of Nevada and/or the venue will adopt vaccine mandates and gathering limits, I think the conference will be compromised.
As you know, this is a debut event, and I want it to be as perfect as possible, which I’m going to absolutely see to. I have put together a great Presenters Roster and program, but to go ahead with already bad and possibly worsening conditions is not the way to get this initial event off the ground.
I am looking at May and June for new dates. I think by then, with warmer weather and probable reduction of Omicron cases, things will be looking much better, possibly to the point of no mask requirements. Just think of that giant breath of fresh air with a maskless conference! In the meantime, I will improve the program even more and will book some first-class entertainment to go with it.
I ask you to bear with me, and please take a look at your calendar and advise if there are particular weeks during May and June that are not good for you. I want to coordinate so that all you guys are satisfied and that this conference benefits you as well as me.
I am dedicated to making this the best Table Games and Game Protection conference ever. And it will be worth the wait!
Thank you for your continuing cooperation. It is GREATLY appreciated.
Richard

Yes it is. He recently (~2 weeks ago) enlisted Bear River Casino + Resort as the field trial location for the best new table games winner, I assume that means everything is still as planned...
Obviously, the booths are close to dead while sessions are happening.Quote: zbrownsonAny past attendees who can tell me what the foot traffic is like during the conference itself? I am a first time exhibitor and planning to hire a dealer for the opening reception, but debating whether it is necessary for the rest of the conference, or if the booths typically just get mild traffic during session breaks? Any thoughts from past years...?
link to original post
But the breaks, as well as the reception, is time to check the booths, grab a bite / drink, and general networking.
While there are some attendees that only go for the opening reception, I think most go for the entire duration.
Additionally, attendees are encouraged to visit each booth and try every game. They need to get their bingo card stamped at every game booth to qualify for the raffle prizes. I also think the reception time tends to be less of a booth visit time, and more of a catching up with acquaintances time.
So, do you need a dealer each day? Frankly, if you think you need one for the reception, you probably need one each day. But do you really need, specifically, a dealer? Or do you just need another person in your booth, ready to demo the game while you talk about it?
That could be anybody. Even one of us. Not that I'm volunteering, but I'm not saying I wouldn't be interested either.

Very informative! I'd already decided against a dedicated dealer myself in favor of someone coming along with me to operate, but it's nice to have an idea of what that traffic will look like. Exciting stuff!
Quote: teliotI am wondering what the odds are that this conference will not happen (again).

Well at this point cases in Vegas are very low, and were low in June last year as well. That combined with the minimized state restrictions compared to last year and even to February this year, seems like for better or worse, everyone is done hiding from COVID at least as far as events and indoor activities go. Plus many people (myself included) have gotten up to two vaccinations plus a booster, so unless there's a significant unexpected spike or new variant, it's unlikely to be pushed again.
I'm more interested in when the next conference will be, given the timeline. Would be unfortunate for it to be November of next year as was originally scheduled, only because that would be a long time to wait, but having it in June is already uncomfortable just due to the heat. Maybe February again.
I'm not saying this conference has no value for the typical attendee, but I wouldn't recommend paying to exhibit a game there any longer.
