I was hoping for some help and thoughts on this. Thinking about Super Times Pay Video Poker, and the maximum payout amount and the odds of getting it. I am new to this game, but as I understand it you get a random multiplier every so often of up to 10x.

So thinking out loud if your playing $1 VP 10 play and get dealt a Royal Flush with the maximum multiplier your dealt Royal would be worth $400,000... sound right?

I am sure the odds of this are probably worse then hitting the lottery, but from what I understand you get a multiplier 1 in 15 hands, and the 10x max multiplier comes up 4% of the time. Getting dealt a Royal is 1 in ~650k, so this would make the possibility of it to happen with a maximum multiplier in the 1 to hundreds of million range, right?

(sorry I do not even know if this is possible, but I assuming it is I do not know how to calculate the odds of it happening)

Yes, you are in the right order of magnitude (hundreds of millions).

The odds of a deal royal flush are 1 in 659,740.
The odds of a 10x multiplier are 1 in 15 (for getting any multiplier) times 1 in 25 (getting a 10x) = 1 in 375.
These combined make the odds 1 in 243,652,500.

So, it's possible.

Ok, so 4,000 units (at $1 each) times ten plays, times 10x multiplier is $400,000 indeed. no question there.

The question is: would the casino pay it, or would it claim that slot jackpots are capped at X amount, possibly $50 K? They do that in side bets for some table games, only the cap is for the entire table. At the tables there is a sign saying so, though, and I don't recall any such signs at VP/Slot machines.

No cap, but it's hard to find Super Times Pay in denominations larger than $0.25 for exactly the reasons the thread suggests. Casinos are afraid of paying a huge jackpot. (He won HOW much!?).

In one of the Detroit casinos, it is possible to play up to 9 lines of Spin Poker at $1.25 a line, so a dealt royal with the 10x multiplier would get you $90,000. I hit a royal there with the 8x multiplier. Of course it was on the bottom line, and I was only playing one line.

The Barona has a $5/5 play game with a top jackpot of $1,000,000 (dealt royal with 10x).

Thanks. That's good to know. Not that I expect it to happen, you know, not to me, but that there are no caps on VP jackpots.

I know where a $1 10-play 8/5 Bonus Poker is...
yes, that's $60 a pop...
A "normal" dealt royal would pay $40,000
A 10x dealt royal would pay $400,000
Hmm..that's actually not bad odds, lol.

Thanks for the help and math guys.

TImspeed: Same here, after finding a machine with that same game/paytable (maybe the same one your referring to?) is why I posted the question. I was considering the same thing since I could play the machine sustained for a good amount of time... it is interesting at least considering that their are obviously multiple lower jackpots that you could achive with the multiplier active.

At one casino, I play this game exclusively. Warning: anecdotal evidence:

It is HARD to get the multiplier to line up with a good hand. You will whiff more times than you can imagine. I think my best hand on the 10x was a dealt two pair. I have never gotten anything like a 10x multiplied full house or flush. My biggest 8x hand was a royal, but like I said, I wasn't playing that line. I have gotten a few 4x/5x multiplied full houses, and I think a 2x/3x multiplied quad once or twice.

That said, your variance may vary :)
