First time long time. I’m new to video poker, and I’m looking for a strategy card for 6/5 JoB. Now I understand that everyone says to avoid it, not to play it, don’t support it, etc. The reason I’m asking is because on most cruise ships, the pay table for JoB is going to probably be 6/5, and I’m looking for an alternative machine I can play for tier points that isn’t a slot machine (which on cruise ships have a much worse return, 80-85% RTP, which make 95% seem a lot more attractive).

The best I can find online are the following sites (can’t post links yet, forgive my formatting):

thegamblersedge dot com slash vpoker slash vpokerstart65JoB dot htm

This seems to be a basic chart, so I don’t know how specific to 6/5 JoB this is.

casinocenter dot com slash changing-times-for-video-poker

This is the closest full strategy chart I could find, although it only goes to 7/5.

I’m sure I would be fine with basic strategy, especially just starting out, but would be curious to see a full chart for 6/5. Thanks in advance!

Here is the Wizard of Odds "Video Poker Strategy Maker." https://wizardofodds.com/games/video-poker/strategy/calculator/

And here are the results for 6/5 Jacks or Better using the above: https://wizardofodds.com/games/video-poker/strategy/a-1-b-74-c-1-d-0-d-1-d-2-d-3-d-4-d-5-d-6-d-25-d-50-d-800/

Welcome to the forum.

How much is a tier point worth to you?
Is it worth more than you're paying?
(I don't need the answers, but it doesn't usually make sense to buy a $5-off coupon for $75.)
May the cards fall in your favor.

Generally speaking, 6/5 bonus poker, when available, is often the best game to play. Even Caesars bars in Vegas, known for having bad pay tables, don't go below 30/6/5 (the "bonus" is paying 30 instead of 25 for a four of a kind). A 6/5 bonus strategy chart is available here: https://blog.vidpoke.com/p/bonus-poker-65-basic-strategy.html

But honestly, for a given game family, the difference in percentage based on pay table increment for a Jacks or Better type game is pretty similar. If unavailable, I would use a 8/5 jacks or better strategy. The best strategy chart is one you understand, and the Wizard's auto generated charts are a bit much for casual use. Here is a better one: https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/8-5-video-poker-charts.pdf

My strategy card for 6/5 Jacks or better would simply read DO NOT PLAY.
The difference between fiction and reality is that fiction is supposed to make sense.

If you are serious about cruise ship gaming ask the Jackpot Gents on one of their live streams in the comment box or send an email. Steve Bourie just got off some cruises and is doing a series on slots on cruises (well, his son is while Steve is on another cruise). Steve has gone on probably half a dozen cruises now over the past year, based on how often he is absent from the Monday live streams. Steve should know what the general best game on cruise ships are, the Vegas Message Board or Cruise Critic might also have info.

If you really don't mind playing 6/5 JoB and want a strategy, just use normal 9/6 JoB strategy, the cost in error to using 9/6 JoB strategy on 6/5 pay schedule is 0.01%, if you REALLY care about that 0.01% then the only thing I can say to help is that a majority of the exceptions involve taking 3 to a royals more over 4 to a flushes, there is some exceptions in optimal JoB strategy where you want to take the 4 to a flush over 3 to a royal that don't really apply when you make the flushes pay 5 (Wizard has a JoB optimal page where you can see the normal exception rule)

Other exceptions you are on your own, I do not know of any strategy cards for 6/5 JoB.
